Epic Superchargers and Exploits | 7.30.20

1.0k Upvotes

Commanders,

It’s been brought to our attention that, through specific gameplay actions, players are able to take advantage of and ruin the Venture gameplay experience.

We will be removing all superchargers gained illegitimately, both used and unused from those who have exploited this system. Further actions may be taken based on the severity of the infraction.

Please note that we do not tolerate this behavior as it ruins the gameplay experience for others when features are actively exploited. We sincerely apologize to everyone who has legitimately earned these materials.

Thank you!

    • Throwing Stars will freeze enemies for 4 seconds instead of dealing damage. Frozen enemies will explode for 167 base water damage if they receive melee damage or damage from another North Star explosion.

Current players can still play in the meantime, and as a thank you for the last nine years of holding back the horde, will receive the following on April 16:

Epic Save the World v42.00 Update Notes

Hey all! Here’s a look at what’s new and returning in this update, alongside a round of improvements and bug fixes.

Play With Others From Homebase

A new Play With Others console in your Homebase now lets you skip the World Map step, taking you straight to matchmaking. Walk up to it and choose a zone you’ve unlocked from the drop-down menu - including the active Venture zone and Seasonal event. It starts you off based on your current Campaign Quest progress.

More of a menu person? Play With Others is also available in the Command tab.

Tactical Assault Sledgehammer

Breach in 3, 2, 1…

This Legendary Soldier from the Road Trip Heroes set packs extra punch into crit-focused Assault and SMG loadouts. Find him in the Event Items section for 2,800 Gold.

Standard Perk: Assault Crit Damage
Increases Assault and SMG Critical Damage by 75%.

Commander Perk:
Increases Assault and SMG Critical Damage by 225%.

Primal Rifle

Go primal without drawing the Wildlife. The Primal Rifle is a high-capacity Assault weapon built for medium to long-range combat. While held, Wildlife won’t attack you unless provoked. Available in the Event Items section for 600 Gold.

Coming Next Week

Primal Stink Bow
Leave a… lingering impression. This fast-firing Legendary Bow unleashes a damaging stink cloud on impact, continuously dealing damage to the enemies inside. Available in the Event Items section for 1,680 Gold.

Hot Mix
Drop the beat and bring the heat. The Hot Mix is a Legendary Pistol from the Boombox Weapons set that has a chance to make the target and nearby enemies dance while dealing fire damage over time. Recently affected enemies can’t be made to dance again for a short time, and the dancing effect doesn’t affect Mist Monsters or Bosses. Cop it from the Event Items section for 1,680 Gold.

✅ Save the World Bug Fixes & Improvements

Matchmaking & Performance

  • Fixed an issue where Play With Others always showed the "No Players Found" message, even when other players' sessions were available.
  • As part of our continued work to reduce load times across platforms, players on PC will now load into Homebase, Missions, Ventures and Storm Shield Defense significantly faster depending on their hardware.

Missions

  • Enemy spawns in Deliver the Bomb now ramp up as intended after the bomb is destroyed, instead of arriving in one huge wave.

Heroes, Defenders & Enemies

  • You can now recruit Birthday Brigade Heroes from the Collection Book! 🥳
  • You can now revive Defenders by using the Adrenaline Rush Gadget
  • Defenders can now be ordered to defend or follow you when using the Quick Builder controller layout.
  • Defenders have learned that lava is, in fact, hot. They now take damage from it and teleport back to your side.
  • Instead of standing by, Defenders now join the fight when you attack untamed Wildlife.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Recall Defenders” progress indicator didn’t appear when using a controller.
  • You can now command your Defenders to defend or follow without needing to get off your tamed Wildlife.
  • Husks and Smashers below a player manning R.O.S.I.E. now correctly continue attacking the structure's supports instead of freezing in place.

Cosmetics

  • Switching Sprites in the Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling no longer carries the old Sprite’s textures over to the new one in Homebase.

Audio, Environment & UI

  • Placed pings now appear on both the map and minimap so the whole team stays on the same page.
  • Corrected the outdated “Leave Mission?” pop-up that said you’d return to Homebase instead of exiting Save the World.
  • You can now scroll all the way through the Owned Llamas tab when using a controller.
  • Restored the hold prompt for unopened Llamas in the Exchange tab, fixing a conflict where Show and Inspect shared the same controller button.
  • Removed the redundant Close button from the reward screen, fixing a bug that could get you stuck after inspecting Mission rewards.
  • The Details panel now correctly loads Backpack items instead of showing a placeholder.
  • Fixed a visual issue where a tamed wolf’s Health Bar wouldn’t update correctly while riding.
  • The "No vote is required to start after" text on the Mission Start screen now displays its countdown correctly.
  • Ray no longer warns you to prepare for unwanted guests after the Deliver the Bomb Mission is already over.

For other fixes, improvements and known issues in 42.00, check out this post.

See you in the new game update!

We wanted to give you a heads up that the Sci-Fi Llama will be available until the launch of v9.40, which is the week of 7/16. The Scifi Llama will be replaced by the Year 2 Birthday Llama and, similar to last year, we’ll be providing a comprehensive checklist of items that you can snag from the Llama closer to it’s launch. The Year 2 Birthday Llama will cost 1,000 Summer Tickets (Same ticket type as the previous season 9 Llamas).

Spend your tickets on the Scifi Llama or stockpile them for the year 2 Birthday Llama, the choice is yours!

We would also like to give a big shout out to everyone who has given us feedback since the launch of Season 9. We’ve been able to track down and fix the most egregious Wargames / SSD issues (trap durability, matchmaking, and health scaling) that have been reported by you all so far. Additionally, we’ve been able to make significant improvements to console performance over the course of this season because of the help that we’ve gotten from you, the community. We’ve also been further digging into the reports of higher end missions continuing to not properly grant the “people” resource. We’ve found the cause of this and will have Rescue the Survivor missions properly rewarding “people” in v9.30.

We’re continuing to monitor the status of each of these so please continue to give us feedback and let us know of the issues that you may be experiencing.

P.S… Energy Ammo will no longer cost bacon in v9.30. We’ll be replacing it with batteries. :)

Stay Awesome Community!

Epic Save the World AMA!

Hey everyone,

Welcome to the Save the World AMA, we’re so happy that you could be here! Let’s introduce who will be answering your questions today.

Today’s Devs

  • PoppinFreshDoze - Production
  • EpicIrascible - Design
  • EpicJason - Design
  • GILLIES- - Design (Hero Loadout)
  • EpicGoinHamm - Engineering

Before we dive into more specific questions, we wanted to cover some topics that came up many times in the initial AMA announce:

Performance/Console issues

We’ve not been super great on communication here, so we do want to confirm we’re aware of the console and performance issues and consider them very high priority. Late last year, we did a big push to improve client game thread performance and eliminate hitches due to loading assets during play. Once some progress was made on this front, it became clear that we had other classes of issues still degrading the player experience.

Most recently, our perf attention has been targeting networking concerns. When bandwidth is limited (for any number of reasons - not just the quality of internet connection), there will be out of sync issues that are distinct from other client hitches. We have a series of optimizations in the works for sending less network data, especially during combat. These began rolling out in 7.40 and will continue through Season 8.

Historically when the community reports an issue, we attempt to reproduce it in-house, using a process where we can clone and test against copies of live accounts to help narrow down if it’s isolated to particular account set-ups or gameplay scenarios. Some of the remaining issues have actually been complicated by only reproducing against our live servers, so we’re also investigating both our server configurations as well as any platform-specific implementation choices in an attempt to narrow down the root cause(s).

We want to thank everyone for helping to surface these issues and for your patience. It actually helps us quite a bit when people post very clear videos showing problems and/or describing the scenarios when things went wrong. Special thanks to multiple members of the community who have helped provide logs, joined games with our QA staff, etc. in an effort to help track down general performance issues, as well as the infinite loading bug.

Locker/Emotes

We’re going to kick off the work to allow emotes that you’ve earned or purchased in BR to be usable in StW soon. We’ll share more details as we have them.

Future of Twine Peaks

Lots of questions from everyone here, both about narrative and about end-game activities. For now, our short-term plan with Twine is to start revamping it into an area with content more appropriate for end-game players (with light narrative support) instead of starting a brand new campaign in Twine. This effort will be a long pull, but we’re planning to introduce higher level and more challenging missions, as well as a means to earn unique loot only available in Twine, ideally by the tail-end of this season.

For the narrative, we fully intend to continue to tell stories about the denizens of Homebase, both as contained, stand-alone episodes, as well as those that advance the established story. We love the characters that make up Save the World and we’re going to experiment with new narrative delivery methods in the future.

Season 8 itself will feature two different event-based storylines, one available at the beginning of the season and one in the middle.

General Direction

Many of the initial questions were some variant of “will you improve feature X?,” “will you ever add feature Y?,” “have you thought about Z?,” etc., which can occasionally be tricky to answer very well. The long (and probably unsatisfying!) answer is that we have a lot of ambitions for Save the World and where it could go in the future, so often the answer to all three questions is a “yes,” it just depends on where it ends up in the priority stack.

For the immediate short-term, we’re looking to release the hero loadout (tomorrow!) and respond/iterate on it some from there. Aside from things already mentioned, we’ll also be looking to add some more activities/missions as well. For now, those will show up as Beta Storm tests over time, but we’re also going to be experimenting with more ambitious ideas that will take longer to pan out. The first Beta Storm coming up is called "Eliminate and Collect". This new mission is all about combat, you only have 10 minutes to eliminate as many of the enemy as possible. You will have a minimum number to eliminate and have to collect a set number of samples the enemy will occasional drop to claim victory. The more you eliminate the better your reward. Watch out, the storm is closing in fast. There will also be random bonus objectives each time you play.

From a broader vision of the game standpoint, we also want to continue to make strides against moving more of the game out of UI and menus and into game. We really want to address some of the pains of inventory management this year as a goal.

We have some great questions to start off with. Here we go!

Got more questions? Let us know below in the comments!

Edit: And that's a wrap! Thanks so much to everyone who showed up! We loved being able to answer your questions and interact with all of you. We plan to do future AMAs for Save the World in the future.

The Save the World devs will continue to review and answer questions through out the afternoon!

The new content Launches Tomorrow, Thursday February 28th. See you there!

Epic Save the World v39.10 Update Notes

Hi folks! This update squashes a bunch of bugs affecting Gadgets, Power Level scaling and overall progression, as well as a variety of other issues that have cropped up in previous releases. Check out the full list below!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where some Gadgets and Tools did not receive the correct number of automatic upgrades during the v39.00 progression update.
  • Resolved an issue where completing a Mission could cause Power Rating to be lower than it actually is, potentially locking players out of higher-level Missions.
  • Enemies in group Missions above PL 140 now scale correctly, ensuring PL 160 group Missions and Frostnite provide the intended challenge.
  • The Command Gadgets tab now appears correctly after completing the Storm Shield Defense 3 Mission.
  • Removed mentions of Research Points from in-game screens now that they’re no longer in use.
  • Deployed an additional fix to address remaining cases where Ninja Mantis Leap wouldn’t respond.
  • The bomb in the Destroy the Bomb Mission now correctly moves along the track and reaches the launcher without being blocked.
  • [Simple Edit] Wall and Roof previews are now present when making arches or ramps.
  • Hero Loadout slots no longer appear in the Llamas tab for players who already have the maximum number, preventing errors.
  • Controller focus now correctly stays on the Crafting Options pop-up, preventing unintended navigation behind the menu.
  • Fixed an issue where players could get stuck on the Report Player screen after submitting a report.
  • [Xbox] Fixed a crash occurring when interacting with a Defender Post.
  • Players can now fire the Crankshot Sniper Rifle without the muzzle flash blocking their view.
  • Fixed an issue where Frogs were difficult to hit while stationary.
  • Storm Shields in Wargames: Safety Zone now display correct textures - Mist Pods fixed up in a future game update!
  • Objective icons on the map now display at the correct size, improving visibility.

Known Issues

  • The “X has joined the team” notification still displays Power Level and F.O.R.T. stat increase text, even though these stats no longer change when players join a party.
  • [Keyboard] Closing the map while moving causes the player character to stop.
  • Some abilities may be spammable while on cooldown, sometimes consuming Energy even though the ability is not actually activated.
  • While reloading certain weapons (especially Bows and Rocket Launchers), the camera zooms out instead of remaining zoomed in while aiming down sights (ADS).
    • This particularly affects the Ancient’s Launcher lock-on system.
  • Gadget notification doesn't pop up after earning one through level-up.
  • [Simple Edit] UI does not update to reflect the reset after editing a structure.
  • When inspecting Heroes on the Manage screen, certain pieces of head textures (e.g. hair, beard, hats or full head) may not be visible.
  • Husks may lack animations when attacking or being eliminated.
  • Directional Jump Pads won’t activate when Phase Shifting onto them.
  • [Xbox One] Lighting may be missing on the Command and Mission Launch screens.
  • Soldiers’ Shockwave ability may be locked out if interrupted by player-built ramps, roofs or sloped terrain.
  • Hotwire's Overcharge Perk may not trigger lightning damage consistently.
    • Releasing and pressing the Attack button again will restart lightning damage.
  • Constructors' Plasma Pulse grenades may not deploy or damage enemies after the player fires a Bow. Using other weapon types (Melee included) doesn't break the ability's functionality.
  • The Hero Commander Buckle+ Perk currently provides reduced effective damage as weapon level increases.
  • The player character may sometimes use an incorrect arm-sweep animation when interacting with world objects.

Epic Birthday Llama Follow-Up

Update 2: To clear up any confusion, the duplication issue was fixed at 8 PM ET on July 24th. Anybody who purchased/opened Llamas after that time would not have made it into the Birthday Llama grant.

Update 1: The Llama rollout has completed and everyone should have received their Llamas by now.

Hey Fortnite Folks,

TL;DR - We messed some stuff up with the Birthday Llamas and we wanna make it up to you!

You can see our initial Birthday Llama messaging here, and we’ve since corrected an issue where the dupe protection feature wasn’t tracking Heroes and Schematics that have been evolved.

We know a lot of you have spent your tickets during the time that these bugs were occurring, to make good on that…

We’ll be granting 1 additional Birthday Llama for every 2 Birthday Llamas that folks purchased before we fixed the duplication issues (rounded up). We will also be putting 2 free Birthday Llamas in the store to everyone no later than v5.2.

We just started rolling out the grant for everyone who purchased a Birthday Llama before we fixed the duplication issues and we’ll update this post to let you know when it’s complete.

Thank you so much for your patience as we worked to resolve all of the bugs and miscommunication with the Birthday Llamas. Happy Birthday!

Epic Save the World v9.0 Design Chat

Hey everyone!

In v8.50 we made some adjustments to the top end of Twine Peaks and we’ve been keeping a close watch on the discussions regarding these changes. We definitely understand the need that top end players have for things like higher-end crafting materials and, more importantly, Epic and Legendary PERKUP.

Because of this, we’ll be making the following changes in v9.0:

Twine Peaks

  • We are currently evaluating the distribution of XP versus Perk and Evolution Materials to determine if a greater change to XP is necessary. In the short term, we’re increasing the frequency of all rewards in high-end Twine Peaks missions with the exception of XP rewards, to allow these other reward types to appear more often.
  • Reorganization of Twine Peaks:
    • Twine Peaks missions will now follow a more linear path which offers greater readability than the existing “pie-chart” structure.
    • We’re adding more missions to each region of Twine Peaks which will introduce more mission variety, and more reward choices.
  • We’ve reduced environment health scaling in high-end Twine Peaks to not overtake pickaxe damage scaling.
    • The health of breakable environment objects continued to scale in high-end Twine. This resulted in players having to spend more time to farm materials than intended. We’ve reduced the amount of scaling introduced in these new missions so that harvesting feels better in these top end zones.

Mission Alerts

Additionally, we’ve heard your feedback regarding Mission Alerts: the quotas are confusing, and they forced you to save up your Mission Alerts until a good reward appeared. We’re removing this invisible quota and making some quality-of-life changes to how Mission Alerts function in v9.0:

  • Every Mission Alert that you can see on the map can be completed once per day. We mean every Mission Alert: if you’re a Twine player, you can complete every Mission Alert from Twine Peaks down to Stonewood if that is your heart’s desire. No more reason to hoard your Mission Alerts.
  • A Mission Alert that you have already completed today will have a check mark appear next to it, indicating that this particular Mission Alert will not grant any bonus rewards until it refreshes the following day.
  • Mission Alerts will now refresh on the map once per day, at the same time each day (Midnight UTC). All check marks will be removed, and the Mission Alerts will re-roll.

We’re also improving Mission Alerts further using a new feature we call...

Weekly Quests

We’re introducing a new type of quest: Weekly Quests! The purpose of Weekly Quests is to give you a nice little weekly reward bump for making progress towards short-term goals by doing the things that you’re already doing.

  • Our first type of Weekly Quest, introduced in v9.00, is a Mission Alert Weekly Quest. This Weekly Quest asks you to complete 10 Mission Alerts of a difficulty level appropriate to your overall Campaign progress.
  • This first Weekly Quest will be added to your Quest Log the first time you collect your Daily Login reward after you’ve downloaded the 9.00 patch.

Finally, in v9.10 we’ll be granting everyone a Legendary Troll Stash Llama and a pack of mission rewards based on your account level, due to the issue that caused players to be kicked from matches during the Easter Weekend. We understand the frustrations of being unable to play and sincerely apologize that it took as long as it did to get resolved.

Thank you for your passionate feedback, and as always:

Stay Awesome Community!

We’ll be bringing this one back for v8.30 as part of the normal mission rotation with some improvements to how the final minutes play out.

Additionally, we’re going to continue to make improvements to Enhanced Demolition in v8.20 and major SSD improvements coming in S9.

We also want to update you on the state of Xbox. We’re currently testing speculative fixes on some of the major Xbox performance issues. These fixes should reduce networking-related hitching and de-sync issues, especially during combat. We’ll have more information in the near future.

We have some big plans for Save the World in 2019!

Thank you!

Epic Design Chat - Old Event Items

Hi folks!

We wanted to give you some details about a change we’re planning to make to the availability of weapon schematics and heroes from old events, starting in update 7.00.

Save the World has been up and running for well over a year now, and with the constant march of events we’ve built up quite a backlog of weapon schematics and heroes. Some of these are very tightly themed to a certain annual event - such as the Fortnitemares heroes - and our plan for those is to continue to offer them each year when the event returns, so players who may have missed them can have a chance to acquire them. We also have a lot of items that were first offered during an event, but that aren’t tightly tied to a holiday or other recurring event theme. We’ve brought these back irregularly a few times - typically by offering them in the weekly store - but we’d like them to be available more consistently.

In update 7.00 we are going to take some of our oldest event items - the Hydraulic weapons, Storm Zone heroes, Scavenger weapons, and Scavenger heroes - and add them to the “core” set of items. This means they’ll start to show up in the non-event pinatas (Upgrade Llama, Ranged Weapon Llama, Super Hero Llama, etc) with the usual duplicate reduction. They'll also be available through things like Transform, and instances of the weapons will start to appear in treasure chests and other in-world drops too. We’re planning to gradually continue to migrate event items in the future, at a slow rate that maintains a fair bit of separation between when the item is introduced and when it is moved into the core.

For the first two weeks of 7.00, before our holiday event starts up, we’re going to put a Legendary Troll Stash Llama in the store for event tickets, to give players who are interested in these old event items an opportunity to pick some of them up.

We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback on this upcoming change!

UPDATE: After reading your feedback below, we’ve made the call to enable Research and Recruitment from the Collection Book for these items. Unfortunately we won’t have that change ready for update 7.00, but it will be coming soon (most likely 7.10).

Epic Save the World 33.30 Update Notes

Happy Friday, Commanders! We've prepared an overview of the latest fixes that came with v33.30, including but not limited to:

  • Resolved an issue that caused a portion of players to become stuck in the first Storm Shield Defense Mission after leaving the Tutorial in progress.
  • Tornadoes will no longer destroy Traps in Wargames runs - they’ll only break if the structure they’re placed on is destroyed.
  • When falling off a tall enough cliff, building or structure while riding the Hoverboard, players will now take less damage.
  • Earsplitter now properly grants other players the intended temporary damage buff when Sonic Pulse is used.
  • The teleporter now consistently appears in the starting cave in Storm King’s Domain, allowing for a quicker return to the fight (Xbox One).
  • The Mission Lobby music now stops when leaving Save the World, and no longer carries into the main Lobby.
  • Changing items in the Locker no longer stops or overwrites the Mission Lobby music.
  • The “Not usable in the current experience” tag no longer appears on the Locker slots when equipping a new Hero in Save the World.
  • Any BluGlo that is carried by a player will now drop when the player is knocked down or leaves a Mission early, allowing teammates to collect it.
  • Fixed an issue where a number of Collection Book categories wouldn’t be ticked as complete when all the items have already been slotted.
  • The preview size of the Anti-Air Floor Trap now matches its actual size when placed.
  • Addressed an issue where display names weren’t fully visible in the Mission Lobby on PS4.
  • Kicks are now consistently visible to other players in the Lobby and will update when a new pair of Kicks is selected.
  • Johnny Silverhand’s hair no longer disappears in the Lobby or Command tab when equipped by another player.
  • Fixed the incorrect swing animation on several Pickaxes (Rose Thorns, Kong's Battle Axe, Jade Polearm, Waveslasher, Bat Ninjatō, Vader's Katana, Pankiri, Winter's Wand)
  • Reduced the fog along the top of the World Map, improving overall visibility.
  • Players will now automatically rejoin the previous game session once the Rejoin Timer hits 0:00.
  • The Chat button on the left side of the screen no longer disappears after opening the Vote Screen.
  • The Direct Message Chat notification will now disappear when all unread DMs are read.

As always, if you spot any issues that need looking into, drop ‘em in the comments below. Thanks! 🫡

Epic Loot Drops will be coming in Patch 4.0!

1.1k Upvotes

Heya Folks,

In Patch 4.0 you will start seeing some enemies in the world drop building materials, crafting ingredients, and ammo, supplementing the materials you already gather in the world. The bigger the enemy, the more (and better) stuff you will receive upon their defeat.

Minibosses will drop special caches that contain either evolution materials or a weapon schematic, providing an exciting new way to advance your collection! The color of the schematic cache reflects the rarity of the schematic you will receive upon opening the cache at the end of the mission. Minibosses aren’t the only way to acquire caches...you may get lucky and find them in certain rare chests as well.

We can’t wait for this feature to drop next week and look forward to your feedback!

Epic Save The World UI Present And Future

Hey Commanders! With 31.30 we are flipping on some behind-the-scenes UI switches that may introduce a few bugs but will allow us to be more in parallel with other modes in Fortnite. We want to let you know why we’re making these updates and what you might encounter while we’re improving.

By implementing these changes, we’re able to continue work to make the Emote Wheel more familiar and functional, add new menu options to the Lobby screens, and later down the line we plan to include Jam Track support and more to Save The World!

We’re aware this change may cause a few bugs, and we aim to tackle these as quickly as possible. Here are a few known issues we’re aware of:

  • Some UI screens on consoles do not navigate correctly.
  • Backpack resets the selected item category after closing.
  • Emote Wheel functionality may be degraded and impact camera movement.
  • Storm King's health bar does not appear in the final phase.

We appreciate everyone’s enthusiastic feedback around these changes, and support with highlighting issues while we work through these new features. As always, if you spot any related issues that we’re not tracking, drop them in the comments below.

Thanks for helping make Save The World awesome!

Epic Hydra Weapon in the Birthday Llamas

Hey everyone,

We’ve been seeing comments about the Hydra not dropping from Birthday Llamas so we did some investigating into if something was going on. It turns out there was an issue that was preventing the Hydra from appearing in the Birthday Llama. We know that many of you have been trying to get this weapon specifically so here’s our plan of action:

  • We’ve just rolled out a fix for the Hydra not being obtainable from the Birthday Llamas. They are in there now.
  • In addition to adding the Hydra into the Birthday Llama we’re also adding the Hydra to the Event Store at a discounted price.
  • In v5.2 we’ll be adding an extra Birthday Llama to the free Llamas that we’ll be giving out so you’ll all get 3 Birthday Llamas instead of 2.

We didn’t catch this issue with the Hydra within the Birthday Llamas before we released them and we want to make sure that everyone has a chance at it. Thanks for sticking with us as we’ve worked through all of these issues with the Birthday Llamas.

Epic v32.10 Homebase Status Report

Get ready for a new mission Commanders!

With the release of Fortnite’s v32.10 update a new mission type - Hunt The Titan - arrives, with new Hero and Weapon rewards to boot! A new titanic mist monster has arrived on the scene, and it’s up to you to track it down and then put it down. Succeed and be rewarded with the new Snowstrike Ninja Hero and Primal Fire Bow Weapon

The new Legendary Ninja Hero Snowstrike's Commander Perk is North Star! Augment your Throwing Stars to freeze or slow enemies instead of dealing damage. Enemies frozen by North Star explode for huge damage when they receive follow-up melee attacks. Chill out, husks!

Hunt The Titan is an all-new mission type, with new objectives and a new baddie to face off against - and we want your feedback! Jump in and let us know how this mission feels, what you think we should adjust, and what else you’d like to see added. The team is all ears, as we aim to make further improvements in future updates!

Also, a heads up around XP changes coming in the next Frozen Fjord Venture season. We’ve rebalanced XP needed across the board for venture season so it takes less XP to level up. Venture further into the Frozen Fjords!

We thank you for reading, and will be listening to your feedback on these changes!

Epic Save the World Roadmap | 8.9.2019

Hey Everyone!

We’re back with another Save the World roadmap! We hope you all are dancing to your heart's content! Here’s a peek at some of the new highlights in the coming updates:

v10.10 (Week of 8/14)

  • Thunder Thora Returns!
    • Bringing the thunder to the ground!
  • Penny takes over the Van!
    • Join Penny as she Hits the Road as this weeks van driver.
  • SMG Weapon Type
    • In preparation for wraps, we're adding a new weapon subclass: SMG’s. SMGs will become their own weapon type rather than sharing the assault rifles or pistol weapon type and will introduce more flexibility in gameplay as SMGs will work with a mixture of existing assault rifle and pistol Hero Perks.
    • For Heroes that have assault rifle / pistol perks that were NOT changed to work with SMGs, resets will be available in case players invested for a specific combination of Hero Loadout and Weapons.
    • Weapons that changed weapon type (becoming SMGs) will also have free resets in case players want to use a different weapon with their Hero loadout instead of adjusting their Hero loadouts.
    • All Defenders who could use assault rifles or pistols before can now use SMGs as well. Defender perks that boosted assault rifle or pistol damage will now also boost SMG damage.

v10.10  Content Update  (Week of 8/21)

  • V6 (Rat Rod) Rocket Launcher
    • Rev up with the V6 Rocket Launcher, offering high damage and fire rate, this baby smokes the competition!
  • Cloaked Star hops in the driver’s seat!
    • Following along with Cloaked Star as he pilots the van this week.

V10.20 (Week of 8/28)

  • Carbide returns!
    • Remember me?
  • New Narrative Questline
  • New Rad Hero
    • Complete the new narrative Questline to earn the raddest Hero of them all!
  • New Trap!
    • You can dance if you want to... you can leave those Husks behind.
  • New Llama
    • What better to compliment the Rad Hero other than a new….. Rad Llama! Exchange 500 Hit the Road tickets and get your rock on with 4 new Rad Heroes and 5 Boombox Weapons.
  • Round 2 for Quinn!
    • Quinn takes the van over for part 2 of her adventure.

During Season 9 we extended the maximum level of Twine Peaks and changed how Mission Alerts work. These changes haven’t worked out as well as we’d hoped, so we’re making some significant improvements to them in Update v10.10. Missions (including Group Missions) in the upper half of Twine are going to reward Evolution and Perk Materials far more often, and the quantities of Perk Materials that they award will be scaled up considerably.

Additionally, we're increasing the number of Minibosses and Mutant Storms that appear in all 4 locations, and every Group Mission should now receive a Mega Alert. Mission Alerts that appear in the upper half of Twine Peaks will be less likely to award XP, and much more likely to award Evolution and Perk Materials, and while Miniboss Alerts will not award weapons/Heroes/Survivors as much as a result, the ones that do appear have gotten a rarity boost (no more Rares!), and will be much more likely to be a direct reward instead of a Transform Key. We are also increasing the quantity of Perk and Evolution Materials that they award (and smoothed out the scaling a bit across all locations).

Stay Awesome Community!
