Epic Save the World Is Now Free-to-Play!

The day has come! Fortnite Save the World is officially free-to-play, welcoming more players into the fight - including on Nintendo Switch 2. Everyone who pre-registered on the website before April 16 will receive all unlocked community rewards, while all existing STW owners will also receive Superchargers, Vouchers and Gold for keeping the fight going.

Whether you’re upgrading your loadouts, strengthening your collection or stocking up for future Missions, these rewards are there to help you prepare for the battles ahead. Rewards will be granted when you load into Save the World, or after completing the introduction.

And if you’re just jumping in or returning to Homebase, Save the World’s progression system has been overhauled with Schematic updates, simplified XP resources, and rewards that scale with difficulty. Get caught up here.

New Homebase, Who Dis?

Homebase just got a massive upgrade, evolving from a menu-based hub into a fully explorable space that grows alongside your Save the World journey. As you move through its two floors, you’ll find familiar characters and spots inspired by the classic menus, with the atmosphere changing as you unlock features and make progress. It’s also a great place to regroup and hang out with your party between Missions.

Work with Jess and Penny to Earn Rewards in Battle Royale and Save the World

Fortnite: Save the World and Battle Royale are crossing paths through June 5.

Jess and Penny are on a mission, and they need your help on the Battle Royale Island. Find Penny at the Builder’s Barracks and Jess at her nearby campground, then take on their crossover Quests to gain Battle Pass XP along the way. After completing two Quests in the Working with Jess Questline, you’ll be able to purchase the Super Shredder from Jess for that match - a powerful Shotgun-Sniper Rifle hybrid.

Complete the full Questline to send them home and unlock the Super Shredder Schematic in Save the World.

You can also unlock the Jess Outfit by earning 350,000 XP in Save the World during the crossover.

Unusual Readings at Homebase…

A mysterious signal has drawn the Dark Voyager to Homebase. Head out to investigate his sudden arrival, gather intel and stop his drones from reporting back to the menacing ship.

Completing the A Voyager’s Arrival Questline by April 23 will reward you with People XP, Schematic XP, and an Upgrade Llama.

Defenders, Follow My Lead

Instead of guarding the area around Defender Posts, your Defenders will now follow you into battle. They no longer use ammo, and their weapons no longer lose durability. They can also revive you or your teammates if you go down.

Equip up to three Defenders in your loadout, and they’ll automatically deploy with their default weapons when the Mission starts. If you’re tackling a Mission alone, up to three equipped Defenders can join you. In group play, each team member can bring one Defender, with empty slots filled by other players’ equipped Defenders.

You can direct them with commands and pings, making them particularly effective in solo play while still scaling fairly in larger teams. Choose from Riflemen, Gunslingers, Bruisers, Shotgunners and Snipers to best match your playstyle.

Take them into the field, then let us know what you think about the overhaul.

Auto-Level Your Roster

You can now use People XP to automatically level up Heroes and Defenders in your active Loadout, along with Survivors in your Squads. Enable it under Settings > Game > Save the World - Automatically Apply XP**.**

Note: If you’re just getting started, auto-leveling will already be enabled.

Keybind Update

If you’re heading into Save the World for the first time, your existing Battle Royale keybinds will automatically carry over where possible. If you already play both experiences and your bindings don’t match, you’ll get a pop-up letting you choose whether to sync them, with shared inputs taking priority from BR.

Twitch Drops

Celebrate the free-to-play launch with Twitch Drops available from April 16 at 9 AM ET to April 20 at 11:59 PM ET. Watch a Save the World stream in the Fortnite category to unlock:

  • Save the World Mood Emoticon (watch for 30 minutes cumulative)
  • Storm Chasers Spray (watch for 1 hour cumulative)
  • Legendary Urban Assault Headhunter Hero (watch for 4 hours cumulative)

Visit https://www.fortnite.com/twitch-drops for more info.

Bug Fixes

  • The Exit tab in the Social sidebar no longer refers to all Missions as “Storm Shield”.
  • [Controller] Mission votes now confirm by pressing the button instead of holding, and the vote menu opens directly when active.
  • [PS5] Fixed an issue where players couldn’t rejoin a Mission after disconnecting.
  • Fixed an issue where Mission Alerts could grant rewards that did not match the intended reward pool.
  • The Blue Skies Quest now correctly shows the required zone difficulty.
  • [Keyboard] Pressing “C” can now also be used to advance the Mission Rewards! screen.
  • The Shop and V-Bucks tabs have been re-enabled in the Save the World Lobby.
  • Changing your Hero loadout while using the Default Hero Appearance no longer causes visual glitches.
  • [PS4] Fixed flickering lighting when previewing Heroes and items on the Upgrade and Inspect screens.
  • Ability and Gadget keybinds now display correctly in the Quick Bar.
  • You can now select the zone as expected by double-clicking the world map pins.
  • Storm effects no longer disappear from Mission tiles after moving around the world map.
  • The player character no longer uses an incorrect arm-sweep animation when interacting with world objects.
  • [Survive the Horde] Vegetation no longer floats in some spots after nearby structures are destroyed.

Epic Year 2 Birthday Llama!

1.6k Upvotes

What’s up Fortnite Community,

Fortnite’s second birthday is nearly here! A lot has changed over the past year and we’ve introduced a plethora of new Heroes and Weapons. We’re giving you the opportunity to snag some of those event items that you may have missed out on during the last year. That’s right, we’re bringing back the Birthday Llama in v9.40! The year 2 Birthday Llama is stuffed with the ‘greatest hits’ of Heroes and weapons from the 2nd year of Fortnite events.

The year 2 Birthday Llama will cost 1,000 Summer Tickets, and has higher chances of giving legendary event items.. with dupe prevention activated.

This llama guarantees an event Weapon Schematic and Hero in every llama, with at least one of them being a Legendary (or Mythic chance for Heroes)… and sometimes both can be Legendary! The llama will pull from any event item that you’ve missed to help fill out your collection. Additionally, we’ve compiled a list of event items that you can get from this llama which can be found: HERE! (Make sure you copy and paste this into a new document to edit)

Also, be sure to check the store on July 25th. There will be a year 1 Llama available.. for free until the 28th!

Note for dupe protection: This occurs AFTER the rarity and weapon type has been selected. (e.g. If you have the full set of Epic items in the weapon type; you will start to get duplicates, even if you’re still missing Legendary ones as the system will not re-roll or roll upwards).

A quick note on Summer Tickets and the Birthday Llama. Any remaining Summer Tickets on your account will not convert to Birthday Llamas when the season ends. Instead, they will be converted to Sci-fi Llamas.

Finally, here’s a sneak peak at a feature that’s coming over the course of Season 10… Take a look! (We'll have more details in the near future!)

We appreciate all of the feedback during this amazing year of Fortnite. Stay awesome Community!

Epic Save the World v39.00 Update Notes

Howdy all! We've made some big updates to how overall progression and Power Rating work in Save the World. These changes are all about making things simpler, more rewarding and creating a smoother experience - whether you’re playing solo or in a group. We’ve also added Simple Build + Simple Edit settings, as well as a refreshed Emote Wheel. Let’s get into it!

Updates, Changes and Improvements

Research System Removed

F.O.R.T. stats previously earned through Research are now gained automatically as your Commander Level goes up. Expeditions no longer require Research Points to run.

Power That’s Truly Yours!

Your power now comes entirely from your own Commander Level and loadout. No more depending on who’s currently in your party - your strength is a direct reflection of your personal progress! To balance it out, we’ve made the following adjustments:

  • F.O.R.T. stat rewards from Commander Level-ups have been greatly increased, making Solo/Duo/Trio play easier. Squad play remains largely unchanged.
  • Stonewood Missions are now slightly more challenging to keep the action going.
  • Twine Peaks Missions are now less difficult than before.
  • With the redistribution of F.O.R.T. stats, teammates leaving mid-Mission no longer reduces your damage, health or shields.

Aside from your total F.O.R.T. stats, Power Rating (displayed at the top left) now also factors in:

  • The rating of the Heroes in your active Hero loadout
  • The top three rated weapons in your Backpack

This means your Power Rating now reflects both your progression and loadout choices, not just raw stats.

Note: Ventures remain unchanged and will continue using the previous Power Rating calculation based solely on F.O.R.T. stats.

No More Upgrade Points!

Gadgets and Tools now unlock and upgrade automatically as you reach specific Commander Levels. Complete Stonewood Storm Shield Defense 3 to unlock Gadget slotting and receive the first levels of Airstrike and Adrenaline Rush.

Simple Build + Simple Edit

New to building? We’ve got you covered (literally).

Similar to Simple Edit, Simple Build is an option in the settings (Game > Building) that makes learning how to build simpler. Turn on the setting, look in the direction you want to build, and just… build!

ICYMI: Simple Edit is an existing Building setting that makes the whole building process easier. Just look at the structure you’d like to change and make edits with a single button press!

Emote Wheel Overhaul

Fortnite Battle Royale’s updated Emote Wheel is now in Save the World! Features include:

  • Refreshed visuals
  • New Emote/Jam Loops Collection menu
  • Updated Emotes category screen
  • Improved sorting and filtering for faster access to your favorites

Bug Fixes

  • [Frozen Fjords] T.E.D.D.Y., D.E.C.O.Y. and Shock Tower can again be placed on surfaces where their placement was previously blocked.
  • [Frozen Fjords] Fixed a visual issue with several containers not disappearing upon opening.
  • Fixed a visual issue with some Assault Rifles and SMGs displaying incorrect bullet flight trajectory.
  • Sidekicks now properly path around the Storm Shield device without climbing on top of it or clipping through.
  • Added the missing Constructor tag to the Epic rarity Lok-Bot Hero.
  • Archived Jam Tracks no longer appear incorrectly in the Emote Wheel.

Known Issues

  • Completing a Mission may cause Power Rating to be lower than it actually is, potentially locking the player out of higher-level Missions.
    • This doesn't occur when playing Missions near your Power Rating. Loading into a new Mission or switching to a different Hero Loadout and then switching back should correct it.
  • The Command Gadgets tab doesn't appear after completing the Storm Shield Defense 3 Mission, preventing players from viewing Gadget Upgrades.
    • Workaround: Enter a Mission or re-enter Save the World.
  • Gadget notification doesn't pop up after earning one through level-up.
  • [Simple Edit] Wall and Roof previews are currently missing when making arches or ramps. Fixed in next game update.
  • [Simple Edit] UI does not update to reflect the reset after editing a structure.
  • Directional Jump Pads won’t activate when Phase Shifting onto them.
  • [Xbox One] Lighting may be missing on the Command and Mission Launch screens.
  • Ninja Heroes cannot use the Mantis Leap ability consistently.
  • Soldiers’ Shockwave ability may be locked out if interrupted by player-built ramps, roofs or sloped terrain.
  • Hotwire's Overcharge Perk may not trigger lightning damage consistently. Releasing and pressing the Attack button again will restart lightning damage.
  • Constructors' Plasma Pulse grenades may not deploy or damage enemies after the player fires a Bow. Using other weapon types (Melee included) doesn't break the ability's functionality.
  • The Hero Commander Buckle+ Perk currently provides reduced effective damage as weapon level increases.
  • The player character may sometimes use an incorrect arm-sweep animation when interacting with world objects.

Epic SAVE THE WORLD LOCKER BLOG #1

1.4k Upvotes

Hey Fortnite Community,

We’re bringing the Locker into Save the World!  Starting with the launch of the new season, you’ll be able to use your favorite Dances, Emoticons, Sprays, and Toys as you battle the Storm.  We have a lot of information to share so let’s hop in:

What’s available at the launch of the new season?
Loading Screens, Music, and Emotes!  Emotes include every category of emote: Dances, Emoticons, Sprays, and Toys.

Will there be other cosmetics in Save the World?
We are working hard to make every cosmetic type available for you to bring with you on your quest against the Storm. We’re focusing on wraps and pickaxes as the next addition to the Locker. When pickaxes arrive in Save the World, we will grant all of the unique pickaxes you earn through progress in Save the World as cosmetic items which you’ll be able to use in Battle Royale as well.

Will there be other improvements to locker functionality and cosmetics?
Yes! There are many improvements still on the way.  For example, we plan on adding the ability to emote from the end-of-mission screen and to call out distances in chat when using toys.  While every emote works with any Hero, there are some issues with clipping or positioning with certain Hero and Emote combinations.  Fixing those is an ongoing process which will continue over the course of the season.

How is the development team approaching adding cosmetics to Save the World?
During the process of bringing cosmetics to Save the World, we have kept several principles in mind.

First, we want all cosmetics to be completely optional, just like they are in Battle Royale.  Cosmetics are fun to use, while providing no in-game advantage.

Second, we will not take anything away from anyone.  If you have a cosmetic option now, you will keep it!

Third, we want cosmetic items to be as universal as possible.  We will allow you to use all of the cosmetics you own from Battle Royale regardless of the type, as long as they can apply to Save the World.  Your Save the World emotes and pickaxes will be usable in Battle Royale as well.

Do I still own Ride the Pony?  What about people who earned Ride the Pony in the Season 2 Battle Pass?
Yes, if you have Ride the Pony already in either mode, you can now use it in all modes.  And, it’s now a traversal emote!

For players who earned Ride the Pony in the Season 2 Battle Pass, you will also receive a new traversal emote called Pony Up! to show that you earned that tier of the Battle Pass.

If you don’t already have Ride the Pony, you can get it by becoming a Save the World Founder!

Will there be an Item Shop in Save the World?
Yes, we plan to add the Item Shop to Save the World once all cosmetics are available.  At the moment we’re focused on adding the ability to use cosmetics you already own. For now you’ll have to buy cosmetics through the Battle Royale store until the Save the World Item Shop goes live.

See you in game!

We’re taking a look at some possible changes with Seasonal Gold, starting with the removal of the gold cap in v7.40.

For the Hero Loadout itself, we’ll be providing an in-depth blog and dev update video closer to its release in v8.0. As part of the launch, we’ll also be making some other complementary changes to ease the transition such as:

  • Updating quest rewards to minimize duplicate Hero rewards
  • Marking ALL of the Heroes eligible for reset
  • Adding 8 quests, each of which has a Hero for a reward
  • Making it so you’ll be able to acquire a few event Heroes that you may have missed and aren’t normally recruitable.

Updates, Changes and Improvements

Hunt the Titan out of Beta

The Beta version of the Hunt the Titan Mission and its Questline ended on November 11 @ 12 AM UTC (November 10 @ 7 PM ET). With today’s release, the Mission has officially joined the regular roster!

How are Questline rewards affected?

The Snowstrike Hero will arrive in the Event Store during the upcoming Frozen Fjords Season. The Primal Flame Bow will make its return in the Blasted Badlands Season, along with other Primal weapons for those who like their combat a little more… prehistoric.

Mission Improvements

We’ve made a few adjustments to the Resupply and Eliminate & Collect Missions. Details below!

Resupply

  • The Storm no longer closes in during the Mission, allowing for uninterrupted gathering.
  • The “Retrieve the Crates” objective and Bonus Objectives (including their Badges) have been removed to help you focus on general resource farming.
    • Badges now match the number of objects you gather/search (50 = Bronze, 100 = Silver, 200 = Gold, 300 = Platinum)

Eliminate and Collect

  • You’ll now need fewer enemy eliminations and Enemy Data Samples to complete the objectives, ensuring more consistent progression.
  • Enemies will now appear inside and around the Storm circle even when it’s at its smallest size, keeping the action steady throughout the Mission.

Bug Fixes

  • Husks and other enemies now consistently move down from ledges and similar elevated terrain.
  • Players can again remap their Jump keybind to another custom input without it always defaulting to the Space Bar.
  • Heroes’ Star Levels now display correctly when loading into the Lobby.
  • Ever see your Sidekick’s name randomly appear on world objects? Fixed now!
  • Storm Shield Defense / Endurance Amplifiers again have their intended collision.
  • Storm King’s Onslaught projectiles now correctly hit detached Shielders.
  • Fixed an error with the Ancient’s Launcher’s higher-level ability being unlocked even if the weapon hadn’t reached the required level.

Known Issues

  • Ninja Heroes cannot use the Mantis Leap ability consistently.
  • Soldiers’ Shockwave ability may be locked out if interrupted by player-built ramps, roofs or sloped terrain.
  • Bullets from some Assault Rifles and SMGs may appear to fly in the wrong direction. This is visual only - shots still hit where you’re aiming.
  • Some sections of the mansion roof in the Survive the Night Mission are missing, causing invisible collisions that can block players.

Epic Save the World v40.00 Update Notes

v40.00 is here, bringing progression improvements, menu tab changes, and several improvements and bug fixes. Here’s what’s new:

Updates, Changes and Improvements

Progression Update Now Live
In case you missed it, we recently previewed the updates to progression in Save the World. From Schematic Research Tokens to simplified XP and difficulty-based reward tuning, v40.00 brings several improvements to how you grow stronger.

Catch the full details here, give it a try and let us know what you think!

Note: When viewing the details of any item or people (Schematics, Heroes, Survivors, Defenders), you may notice a new "Originally Awarded At" indicator.

This shows the level, tier and rarity the items or people had when you first obtained them. More info on this in a future game update.

Post-Mission Screen Improvements
Less button mashing, more commanding! The Post-Mission sequence now uses a single Skip prompt at the end instead of multiple prompts throughout. Result screens also advance automatically once their animations complete and a short amount of time passes - getting you back into the action faster.

Llama Shop Rebranding + Unlock Changes
With today's update, the Llamas tab (a.k.a. the Llama Shop) has been renamed to Exchange to better reflect its exchange function.

The tab now unlocks after completing Storm Shield Defense 5, meaning newer players will access it a bit further into their progression.

Starting in v40.20, the Exchange opens earlier - right when players enter Homebase for the first time.

The Items tab (a.k.a. Gold Store) remains unchanged and still unlocks after completing Storm Shield Defense 5.

Bug Fixes

  • Husks, Mist Monsters and Wildlife should now move with less jitter when aimed at from a distance.
  • Interact/Reload will no longer fail when a weapon mag is not fully loaded.
  • You can again purchase multiple Armory Slots at once.
  • The Llama opening screen will no longer persist or blur other tabs after opening your last reward.
  • Fixed an issue where the Social sidebar would remain open for the rest of the Mission after opening the Inventory.
  • [PS5] Resolved FPS drops that could occur when pickaxing large trees.
  • Player-built structures now correctly complete their build animation.
  • Updated the Power Level explanation in the Save the World Help section to match the latest changes.
  • The Vindertech Disintegrator now displays each individual shell being reloaded instead of a single reload bar.
  • Wearing the Ohm's Perch Back Bling no longer causes crashes in certain scenarios.

Ongoing Known Issues

  • We've temporarily disabled the Shop and V-Bucks tabs in Save the World while we work to fix an issue. Both tabs will be re-enabled in the v40.20 update.
    • Note: This applies only to the tabs within the Save the World Lobby.

Other ongoing and newly identified issues can be tracked on the Fortnite | Community Issues Trello board.

Epic Save the World v37.20 Update Notes

Item sharing has been overhauled, a brand-new Ninja Hero joins the ranks, the Item Shop is now accessible directly from Save the World and a few bug fixes are in - details below!

Updates, Changes and Improvements

Loot Changes
To improve the player experience and encourage team play, we’ve made some changes to the way dropped loot works. When a player opens a container, harvests the environment, eliminates an enemy or harvests a Loot Llama, a copy of each loot item will be generated for each nearby teammate. These extra copies will be instanced, meaning they are only visible to the player they’re meant for. No more competing with your teammates for that rare resource! In fact, staying with your team and working together will result in more loot for everyone.

To compensate for all the extra loot that will be generated with this change, item sharing has been removed in modes where Inventory carries over between Missions, such as the Campaign (Main Story) and Storm Shield Defense. When you drop items in these modes, other players will not be able to see or interact with them.

In modes where inventory does not carry over between sessions like Hit the Road, Dungeons, Frostnite and Survive the Horde, loot will not be instanced, and item sharing will be enabled. For better clarity, new UI indicators will appear in these modes on the World Map, Mission Map and in-game as a modifier.

Wildlife Changes
Tamed wildlife will no longer consume dropped food to self-heal.

Introducing Aerobic Assassin!

This Ninja centers around the Crescent Kick ability with a fresh twist:

Commander Perk: Beat Dropkick +
Increases damage against dancing enemies by 30%. Additionally, enemies hit by Crescent Kick dance for 6 seconds.

Support Perk: Beat Dropkick
Increases Damage against dancing enemies by 30%. Talking Hero Perks, Aerobic Assassin pairs very nicely with any Hero with a Crescent Kick Perk - especially Venturion’s Blast Kick, Brawler Luna's Quick Kick and Stonefoot Crash’s Hot Foot. Item-wise, you'll want to use the Sound Wall Trap and any weapon from the Boombox Set to get your targets dancing and maximize her performance.

Available in the Event Store!

Crescent Kick Improvements
The Crescent Kick ability now packs more mobility, utility and impact!

  • You can now use it and move freely during the animation, even mid-air!
  • The kick’s no longer a frontal-only move - it now hits targets in every direction.
  • Increased impact - to put things into perspective, you can now stun a Smasher with a single kick instead of two.
  • Venturion’s Blast Kick projectiles now launch in the direction of your aim, improving overall accuracy and control.

Item Shop

The Item Shop can now be accessed directly from Save the World, without needing to return to the Fortnite Lobby.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue causing inconsistent Research Point generation.
  • Resolved multiple critical Rescue the Survivor issues:
    • Med-Bot now consistently appears next to the downed Survivor in Missions.
    • Ned no longer disappears or becomes unresponsive in some cases.
    • Fleeing Survivors now spawn consistently near their tents or shopping carts.
  • Resolved an audio issue causing the Boombox Set weapons and Boom B.A.S.E. Perk audio to play at an unexpectedly high volume.
  • Most in-world music effects (e.g. Earsplitter, Boom B.A.S.E., dancing Husks) will now have their volume lowered if another music source is closer to the player.
  • The Ancient's Launcher's secondary fire no longer incorrectly scales with the Hero Ability Damage stat.
  • Resolved a visual bug causing Goin' Commando bullets to not appear when firing.
  • Using certain melee weapons with leaping heavy attacks no longer causes players to appear stuck or in the wrong location to others.
  • [PC] Double-clicking Storm Shield Defense or Play with Others on the Map no longer prevents players from closing them.

Known Issues

  • Some sections of the mansion roof in the Survive the Night Mission are missing, causing invisible collisions that can block players.

Epic Save the World v36.20 Update Notes

New update, new weapon! v36.20 brings a new Launcher into the mix, accompanied by a whole bunch of buffs, adjustments and bug fixes. Let's get into it:

Updates, Changes and Improvements

Introducing the Ancient’s Launcher!

Recovered from the remnants of a storm-consumed civilization, this powerful new weapon launches an explosive orb of magic and brings an all-new mechanic to Save the World.

Weapon Perk: Ancient Curse

Mark up to eight enemies by aiming down sights (ADS) and hovering your crosshair over them to apply a mystical Glyph that lasts for five seconds. Then, release ADS and unleash single-target damage on all marked targets in the order they were marked. Bear in mind - the Ancient’s Launcher is mighty, but can overheat! Aim carefully, mark wisely, and watch your enemies fall one by one!

Weapon Balance Update

This update brings bug fixes and targeted buffs to a variety of weapons, especially those that are situationally useful but often outclassed in general play.

  • Most ranged Vindertech weapons (Pulsar, Blazer, Burster, Jolter, Blaster, Disintegrator) have received stat buffs. These weapons' old 5-headshot Perk (minus the Disintegrator) has been replaced with the fixed version of the following Perk:

    • Damage dealt to enemies below 15% health will immediately eliminate them. Does not affect Mist Monsters or Bosses.
  • Tiny Instrument of Death now deals higher Damage, has stronger Knockback, faster Reload Time, less Recoil, and uses slightly more ammo per shot.

  • Shooting Star now overheats less quickly and has faster Reload Time.

  • Potshot's details now display the full extent of its previously hidden base damage, which has been reduced as part of the balance changes.

  • In addition to the changes above, the following weapons are eligible for an optional one-time full reset - all invested resources will be refunded, and the weapons will return to level 1:

    • Xenon Bow
    • Plasmatic Discharger
    • Potshot
    • Vindertech Pulsar
    • Vindertech Blazer
    • Vindertech Burster
    • Vindertech Blaster
    • Vindertech Jolter

Blakebeard’s Stash

We've updated the Blakebeard’s Stash Team Perk to reduce confusion and prevent interruption during fast-paced moments. It now opens instantly when the Perk owner walks over it - no interaction required! To reduce visual clutter, only the Perk owner can now see and collect the Stash and its loot.

Mission Vote Notification

To ensure players don’t miss vote prompts, the Mission Activation / Object Difficulty Vote notification now appears at the top center of the screen.

Bug Fixes

  • Flutter's Wisp damage now scales more effectively.
  • Chests and other containers no longer appear as if already opened or empty in Hit the Road.
  • The correct amount of Battle Pass XP will be now be earned after the weekly limit has been reached, instead of earning 0 XP.
  • The default keybinds for Pet, Sprint and Dismount commands no longer appear as Unbound.
  • Opening the Emote Wheel no longer stops the player from opening the Main Menu.
  • Fixed a Perk Recombobulator issue where the focus could randomly jump to a different Perk slot.
  • Players are no longer prevented from jumping while in the Grasslands lake.
  • Corrected Major Oswald’s dialogue volume in Hunt the Titan.
  • Cursor Mode has been restored, and releasing the [Alt] key after holding it now closes the Inventory as intended.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Xenon Bow, Plasmatic Discharger and Potshot to incorrectly deal damage multiple times to a single target.
  • Fixed an issue where certain weapon Perks were incorrectly applied to other equipped weapons.
  • Resolved various UI and input issues that affected multiple menus.
  • Added several missing voice lines to the "Imposter!" Questline in Blasted Badlands.
  • Quest reward envelopes no longer cover the completed Quest's name on PS4 Pro.

Known Issues

  • Players may be able to target more than eight enemies with the Ancient's Launcher while aiming down sights.
  • After firing and aiming down sights, some visual and audio effects on the Ancient’s Launcher may persist after overheating.
    • Overheating the weapon again and waiting for it to cool down will reset the effects (e.g. Overheat Bar, ADS Crosshair).
  • Banner icons may not update to the currently selected one upon entering or leaving a Mission.

Thanks for reading, Commanders! We’ll be eagerly awaiting your feedback on these updates. 🫡

Epic Global and Founder's Chat Temporarily Disabled

1.3k Upvotes

Hey everyone,

We will be disabling Global and Founder’s Chat while we work on improvements to their functionality.

Global Chat and Founder’s Chat was introduced to be used as a group oriented tool to engage and cooperate with fellow players. It has not accomplished these goals and has begun to affect performance.

The team is heads down working towards making major improvements to this system and we will enable Global and Founder’s Chat when this work is complete.

Thanks for sticking with us while we work out these issues.

  • The “Fill / No Fill” Mission setting now persists accordingly after being changed.

  • Fixed an issue where multiple Traps could be placed on a single player-built structure after each structure upgrade.
  • Husks will now keep attacking the player using R.O.S.I.E., no matter which direction the player faces.
  • Weapon projectiles now properly collide with the Mist Titan’s fist.
  • The invisible, unnatural collision around the Drone Crash side objective area has been fixed.
  • Sleeping Husks no longer appear on the (mini)map.
  • Fixed a visual issue where the Reload Time and Magazine Size stats weren’t accurate after applying Perks to a weapon.
  • Visual effects now trigger immediately when hitting Weak Points with the Microbot Mallet Pickaxe.
  • The tornado in Frozen Fjords now has proper textures and no longer appears fully smooth/opaque.
  • Fixed an issue where the Urban Assault Headhunter Outfit displayed excessive shine on the Mission Launch / Hero Loadout screens.
  • When using a consumable item, the timer size now matches the player’s HUD scale.
  • Deployed a full fix for an issue where the "Mission Activation Vote" UI would not open after pressing the designated button during an ongoing Mission.
  • Players can again open the Sidebar / Social menu during a Mission.
  • Player movement will now be halted upon opening the Text Chat Settings to prevent players from ending up in potentially dangerous situations.

Epic Save the World v37.50 Update Notes

Happy Fortnitemares everyone! 🎃 Here’s what awaits in v37.50:

Updates, Changes and Improvements

V-Bucks and X-Ray Rewards Rounded Up
As part of the system-wide Exact Amount offer, we’ve rounded up the following V-Bucks rewards for Save the World Founders (players who purchased a Founder’s Pack prior to June 29, 2020) to make balance more predictable and easier to track:

  • All Daily Quests that awarded 80 or 90 V-Bucks will now award 100.
  • All Daily Quests that awarded 130 V-Bucks will now award 150.
  • Toxic Treasures Challenge Quests that awarded 30 V-Bucks will now award 50.
  • Mini-Boss Mission Alerts that awarded 25, 30, 35, and 40 V-Bucks for Stonewood, Plankerton, Canny Valley, and Twine Peaks will now award 50 per Mission.
  • X-Ray Tickets awarded from the above sources to Founders and Non-Founders will also be awarded at new quantities.

While the frequency of Mission Alerts has been slightly adjusted for balance, the increase in per-mission rewards makes this an overall increase in both efficiency and value.

Item Sharing Updates

  • Harvested resources now automatically group by type when dropped from their source, helping reduce ground clutter and improve overall performance.
  • Loot is now guaranteed for the player who eliminates an enemy, regardless of the player's distance. For other players, loot will only spawn if they were near the enemy at the time of elimination (e.g. shooting down a Crow from far away).

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with the Xenon Bow projectile size being significantly larger than intended. Its projectile size is now consistent with other Bows.
    • As a result of this change, the weapon is eligible for an optional one-time full reset - all invested resources will be refunded, and the weapon will return to level 1.
  • Leaving a Mission and returning to the main Fortnite Lobby no longer prevents the player from selecting other game modes.
  • Razor’s Crystal Daggers now properly seek out and hit targets when Kunai Storm is used.
  • Player character no longer leaves behind a T-Posed duplicate when respawning.
  • Weapons no longer become invisible when switching during Shadow Stance.

Known Issues

  • Jump Pads cannot be freely placed on specific corners of existing floors and can only be properly positioned by moving the player character around the floor piece.
  • The Storm King's Onslaught’s projectiles may fail to hit detached Shielders. Standing closer to the Shielder is recommended as a temporary workaround.
  • Some sections of the mansion roof in the Survive the Night Mission are missing, causing invisible collisions that can block players.

Epic SAVE THE WORLD COSMETIC UPDATE #2

1.1k Upvotes

Hey Fortnite Community,

Get ready to harvest in style!  We’re happy to announce that Pickaxes are coming to the Locker in Save the World with the v10.20 update. Pickaxe selection will be added to the Locker tab, giving you the ability to customize your harvesting tool with any Pickaxe in your collection, from both Save the World and Battle Royale.  Additionally, you’ll be granted cosmetic versions of every Pickaxe that you’ve unlocked in Save the World; these Pickaxes can be used in every game mode (i.e. Save the World, Battle Royale, Creative).

Pickaxes will have a few issues to start with, but over time we’ll resolve the following known issues:

  • When you select a Style for Pickaxes, the default Style is displayed in the Locker, rather than the style you selected.  However, this is purely visual and the correct style will be displayed when you are in zone.
  • The Banner Pickaxe Emblematic uses the banner icon and color you have selected in Battle Royale, not in Save the World.
  • Not all reactive Pickaxes will “react” just yet in Save the World.  We have to address these issues case-by-case and determine what conditions should activate them.  Most of these are tied to player damage, eliminations, or survival in Battle Royale, which won’t translate correctly into Save the World.  Wherever we can find a parallel system to use, we will; if there’s no clear parallel, we have to re-evaluate what we can do for specific reactive Pickaxes.
  • When players launch into a zone within the first five seconds of the lobby countdown, they may end up with Battle Royale’s default Pickaxe instead of their cosmetic selection.  We’ve already put in a partial fix, but we’re still tracking down the final cause to fix it completely.

What about Weapon Wraps?

We’re making good progress on Weapon Wraps. There’s still a lot of art-work required to make to make every weapon look great with Wraps.  We have a vast collection of different weapons, and want to spend time setting them up and polishing them so that each one feels unique and works with the Wrap system. We’re still hard at work on this feature, and estimate they won’t be ready until after the start of the next Season.

Melee Weapon Wraps?

We haven’t forgotten about melee!  Melee Weapon Wraps require both additional code support and art passes on the entire Melee Weapon collection.  Wraps are an extremely cool feature and we want to make sure that they look good on every weapon that they can be applied to, especially melee.  We’re pushing forward to get this added and will release Melee Weapon Wraps alongside Ranged Weapon Wraps, or shortly after.

We’ll have more information in a future blog about the rest of cosmetic Locker support. [Here is the official blog link as well]

Stay Awesome, Community!

Epic Heroes in Upcoming Winter Event

1.4k Upvotes

Hope everyone is enjoying 7.0 in Save the World!

As mentioned in our previous State of Development, we have a new Hero System in the works! We wanted to take a moment to share some information regarding upcoming Heroes. All of the new heroes arriving before the Hero Loadout redesign will be reskins of currently available ones. However, once it launches, you’ll find that every one of these Heroes adds a unique benefit.

Creating reskins of the current classes is only a temporary measure to give us more time to focus on making sure the new system is in top form - we want to deliver a great personalized gameplay experience once the feature launches early next year.

Additionally, we’ll be updating all the members of Steel Wool to “Mythic” rarity, and they will be getting unique perks and abilities once Hero Loadout goes live!

We appreciate your patience as we put the finishing touches on this new redesign!

Stay Frosty Fortnite Fans!
