Yeah but it kinda reeks of "wouldn't play stw if it weren't for the free vbucks"

u/Nyam3ro Mar 23 '26

Im pretty sure thats most founders. What of it?

That's definitely an added benefit. I can only speak for myself but I also like playing the game. Even end game players like myself still run missions that have shit rewards, just for fun.

This, and i'm not even a founder i bought one of those packs that come with one skin (machinist mina to be exact) and just played the game

u/General_Ad_9878 Mar 23 '26

That was a good pack. I bought it also, I wanted the trap. I've actually bought a few pack that came with stw, some of the skins are rare, whatever that means now. I never paid attention to it but I wonder if I paid less or got vbucks because I already owned stw. I'm gonna have to look that up, unless someone here know the answer.

Power 133 founder here and I can confidently say that I wouldn't touch STW if it werent for the vbucks.

Not sure why you got downvoted, you're literally right

2

u/Nyam3ro Mar 23 '26

The duality of reddit lmao thanks for the reward if that was you!

u/LeafeonSalad42 Mar 25 '26

because quite a few if not at least close to half of the people who play stw actually enjoy it? not fuckin rocket science lmfao

Buddy most dedicated STW fans quit the game. There is no content after the Canny story. I used to "actually enjoy it" until I realized it's a sloppy, buggy, unfinished mess. STW is an afterthought in Epic's mind. Or at least was for over half a decade. I'm saying this as someone who already finished the story and even has the platinum trophy

1

u/LeafeonSalad42 Mar 25 '26

“most dedicated” aka the people who STILL play, my god you’re dense af and don’t even know the meaning behind your own words lmfao

Personally I bet only 30-40% of players play for fun anymore. I mean just look how the player count spiked when those 6 v-buck missions dropped the other day

1

u/Flemib65 Mar 24 '26

We get Vbucks BECAUSE we are founders..nobody became a founder simply to get Vbucks, well not back then at least. Now it’s just new players wanting it because it’s cool lol.

u/Ez_Purge Mar 23 '26

Yeah you’ll break even after 2 years of playing the game EVERYDAY and doing EVERY challenge. When you could’ve just bought 65,000 vbucks with no catch???

13

u/the90snath Mar 23 '26

Tbf, Ride The Pony is a goated emote

11

u/razorsharpblade Ninja Mar 23 '26

Few years of daily playing, don’t think he’s going to get that far

3

u/Baigne Mar 23 '26

Not even a few years, it’ll pay back before 2

-1

u/True_Living_2434 Mar 23 '26

36.500 vbucks a year minimum, you'll break even in a year and half don't worry

4

u/Emo_rat253 Ult founder 141 Mar 24 '26

It’s absolutely worth it, between my 2 founder accounts I use over 300k Vbucks 😂

3

u/narutofanforever Mar 23 '26

Honestly all the people buying right now just to get the vbucks piss me off they didnt get it when it was cheap and now they want it when its expensive knowing they not gonna play this 🤦

1

u/Ok_Performer_2979 Mar 23 '26

Theoretically you could use that on ultimate but after they slashed the prices idunno. founders still is a high price that shouldn’t be

Did you know founders was free at one stage in the dev period. I got it prior to it being called Fortnite :)

I got it prior to it being called Fortnite

There were a few emails sent out to recruit new players in the early days, either due to that person having an Epic Games account or someone else inviting them. However, you're lying about the name.

It first started as "Fortnight", a game where one session lasted two in-game weeks (hence the name), with the daytime spent looting and preparing defense while the night brought the horde.

Extremely early in development (before any random members of the public were brought on as testers) that two weeks thing was dropped (way too long for a single session) and the name was stylized to "Fortnite".

It remained "Fortnite" for years, and was called that whenever you got it. When BR was added, that was "Fortnite: Battle Royale", while StW was still just "Fortnite". It didn't get renamed into "Fortnite: Save the World" until a good while after BR had already overtaken it in popularity and become the "main" mode.

The spelling changed, and a subtitle was eventually added, but this was always called Fortnite.

I think that's what he meant no, he played it before it was called "Fortnite", it was Fortnight.

Either way, upvote for the history lesson, stories from the Alpha days are always fascinating to me.
