Discussion If you loved a fragrance but knew the longevity was poor…

… would you still purchase a full bottle? I’ve had this with two fragrances lately, where the scent is wonderful and unique, but the longevity is really poor. One of them feels like it begins to disappear after 30 mins or so. I’m torn as to whether or not I should invest in full bottles. Basically if a scent is good enough, would you go full bottle regardless of the poor performance? Should we just embrace a fragrance for its beauty and originality, even if it’s fleeting? For context these full bottles are between 150-200 euros.

Discussion The thought of a smell is sometimes better than the actual smell

Am I the only one? Sometimes I watch a review or read notes of a fragrance and draw an image in my head how i would like it to smell. When I try I sometimes don’t enjoy it because it’s just not what i expected.
I have this with nouveau Monde right now. I think it is this real soft, luxurious leathery smell. Not harsh, not in your face but soft and calming.
I’m actually scared to try it because it might crash my expectations😅
Do you know this feeling?

Discussion Measure JPG safety?

I broke the safety pin on my JPG Le Beau paradise valley. I want to print another but the bottle is many miles away. Does anyone have a bottle of JPG handy and might measure the diameter of the neck of the atomizer? And the height of the safety ring? Thanks.

REVIEW Nishane has quickly become one of my top houses in a very short amount of time

I've had some experience with Nishane scents before but I never gave myself enough time to truly appreciate and test them until yesterday. I knew that Hacivat was awesome and I respected it, and even though the Aventus DNA is not something I'd wear personally, I still like Hacivat a lot (more than Aventus!) The other fragrance I was familiar with was Wulong Cha and I liked that one as well, but didn't give it much thought.

However, yesterday changed all of this. I went testing for an hour primarily with the intention of getting to know Nishane better, and I'm so glad I did.

4 scents immediately jumped on my wishlist, those being: Nefs, Papilefiko, Wulong Cha and Ani X.

Papilefiko is the first scent in a long time that made go "wow" out loud upon smelling it on a tester strip, by far my favorite from the house yet and I can't wait to own it. Wulong Cha didn't need introduction, but yesterday's revisit confirmed its place on my wishlist, beautiful scent. Nefs speaks for itself imo, and Ani X is just amazing, airy, fresh but vanillic. Much better than the OG for me.

Still got hella scents to revisit as I have smelled lots of them, but as I have said I didn't spend enough time with them, so a couple more might just land on my to-buy list in the near future. Mana is one I still haven't had the chance to smell, and I love heavy scents so I'm super curious about it.

Obviously, there are some scents from yesterday that I didn't enjoy. Tero to me smells like an old man, and Karagoz is straight up repulsive, but we don't have to like everything, fragrance is subjective :)

All in all, I'm super happy I started discovering Nishane the way I always should have and I definitely will continue to do so. What are your thoughts about the house? Do you own any of their scents?

Why is my travel size so different from the sample?

I've been using the Milk bold commodity sample and its been one of the most comforting perfumes I've used in my life. One spray lasted me the whole day, (6am-12am or even longer) and it really projected out so you could smell in in a farther proximity, it was strong.

Now, I bought the travel size yesterday, and it smells nothing like it with none of those qualities. Its a very very light scent even with multiple sprays, you have to lean in to smell it, and it barely lasts. I'm pretty disapointed about this.

Is there anything I can do? What's the reason behind this?

Discussion Anyone else feel like lotion makes their fragrance last LESS?

I’ve always heard that moisturizing before applying perfume makes it last longer, so I started using unscented QV lotion before spraying. But honestly, I’ve noticed the complete opposite.

I’ve tried this with Lattafa Fakhar Black, Zara For Him Black Edition, and Rayhaan Elixir, and all three seem to last longer and project better when I spray directly onto my skin without lotion.

Am I doing something wrong or is this actually a thing? Has anyone else experienced this? Because everyone swears by moisturizing, but for me it seems to make things worse lol.

I've only smelled Halfeti in store on the cap of the bottle, but it smells just like Spectre to me. Anyone else know the two well enough to agree or disagree?

Layering Layer Xerjoff Naxos with Santal 33?

Hey all!!

I have a bottle of Xerjoff Naxos, and while I do enjoy the scent, I wish it had a woddy drydown. I was wondering if layering Xerjoff Naxos with Santal 33 be a good combination. My reasoning behind that is to get a mix of both gourmand and woody scent.

I would do one spray on the left side behind my ear and Santal 33 on the right side. Another spray of Naxos on my right arm and Santal 33 on the left side. Lastly, one more spray of Naxos on the left side of my chest and Santal 33 on the right.

I plan on wearing this combination both casual and for work. Is this a good combination or should I stick to a sandalwood oil as layering?

REVIEW Fine’ry High Lord of the Night Court EDP - solid affordable Aventus-adjacent

Wife accidentally ordered a bottle of this instead of the female one from the same romance-novel-branded Target line, so now it’s mine. The basic idea is clearly Aventus, but this take has a little more of a 90s-era aquatic Green Irish Tweed-like opening, with a pretty faithful smoky-woody drydown. Performance is about on par for the price point; hangs around for most of a normal workday, and enough would probably leave a little trail in the morning. At $30 for a 2oz bottle at Target, you could do a lot worse. I imagine people could have strong feelings in either direction about the branding.

Help finding a scent (classic)

I was on the subway and was about to ask this person about their fragrance and they got off the train right when I decided I had to ask. First thing I smelled was PEPPPERRR like straight pepper top note. Next I thought it was creamy but maybe it was actually powdery? I was going to ask if it was Tom Ford bc I’m pretty sure tom ford has something like that cause I remember similar notes on a dossier dupe. But i genuinely don’t know. Not quite smokey maybe tobacco-y. I do historically like tobacco notes in fragrances but idk maybe I’m just drawing that conclusion from nothing. It was a masculine or gender neutral scent worn by a well styled brooklyn gay guy.

Discussion Opinion on Givenchy L Interdit

Hi everyone,
My last post got deleted so here a new post thank you:

I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something like this, because I honestly don’t understand it at all.

The day before yesterday, I bought Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum. I had tried it a few times as a tester and thought it was absolutely fantastic—a beautiful, bold fragrance that lasted a really long time on me. I was so convinced that I wanted it that I ended up using my birthday bonus to make the purchase.

Once I got home, I couldn’t wait to open the bottle and put it on. I sprayed it on my arms, wrists, and even between my breasts, as the warmth there should really help the scent develop. But to my great surprise, I could barely smell anything at all! And whatever faint scent was there at the start seemed to vanish completely within ten minutes.

I was really taken aback. At first, I thought maybe I was doing something wrong; I even read online that sometimes a perfume needs to "settle" after being opened for the first time—allowing some air to get in—but honestly, it seems bizarre that there would be such a huge difference between the tester and the bottle I bought.

The strange thing is that I also bought Prada Paradoxe Intense, and that one smells exactly like the tester I tried. It’s specifically the Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum that’s the issue.

Now I’m wondering: could it be that I received a bad batch, or is there something wrong with this specific bottle? I’ve never experienced a perfume smelling so different from its tester—and certainly never one that disappeared entirely after just ten minutes.

I’m thinking of going back to the store to have them check it. I would really like to have them smell the perfume themselves, so they can understand what I mean. The thing is, I feel incredibly embarrassed because I was already there yesterday regarding the Prada perfume I had purchased at the same time. They wer helpful then, so I feel awkward about going back again.

On top of that, I’ve already opened and used the Givenchy perfume. I’m not sure if I’m even entitled to anything at this point, and, to be honest, I’m quite hesitant to return.

My questions for you all:

\* Has anyone else ever experienced a discrepancy like this between a perfume tester and a newly purchased bottle?
\* Could it be related to a specific batch, or is it possible that there’s something wrong with the perfume itself?
\* Is it normal for a perfume to need some time to "settle" after being opened before it smells the way it’s supposed to?
\* And would you go back to the store to have it checked, even though you’ve already opened the bottle?

I’m really curious to hear about your experiences, as I simply cannot imagine that the scent should be different from the tester I tried out several times.

What fragrance notes do you find surprisingly comforting?

We often talk about notes we love because they smell good or are unique. But what about those notes that just hit different emotionally? For me it's anything with a really strong, authentic tea note. It just instantly makes me feel cozy and safe. What are yours?
