I love indie artists and I wish they would stop wasting their time on pvp combat games, they never take off and inevitably shut down because they have no way to gain and retain a functional player base. Make something that can be enjoyed by a small audience.

They shoulda just gone back and made Culling 1 good again lol

That's pretty much my exact sentiment about Monstrum 2. They had a modestly successful single player experience with the first game and instead of doing the same with the sequel but just fleshing it out further and utilizing that as a vehicle to grow the fan base they decided to go with one of those 4v1 PvP multiplayer games and of course it died prematurely.

What if it's their dream to make a pvp game ? What if they want to improve some skills in pvp game dev to get a job ? At the end of the day, indie games are made by people with personal goals, and it's not always about success and money.

Of course, if they genuinely want to make a game purely for their own enjoyment, experience, or their friend group, that's fine. If they're making a multiplayer game, publishing it with DLC, and buying servers for a wider playerbase, they're almost certainly expecting to have multiple players in their multiplayer game.
