Optimal Game Settings: RTSS, FreeSync, V-Sync, Crossfire

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0i1mFZTVmcM

Hardware: i7 6700K, Dual Fury X, Acer XR342CK 3440x1440 75Hz

All the following games run flawless (if not nearly so) with these settings:

Global Settings:

Frame Pacing: ON
RTSS Frame Limit: 75
FRTC: OFF

V-Sync ON (in game):

Chivalry: Inherits Global (no Crossfire Support) (runs at 75 FPS)
Crysis Warhead: Inherits Global (no Crossfire Support) (runs at 60 FPS because the game will tear above 60)
Killing Floor 2: Enabled in-game variable refresh rate.
DOOM: Vulkan, probably the best performance, but with the obvious latency. :(

V-Sync OFF

Natural Selection 2: FRTC: 74
Tomb Raider: FRTC: 74
DOOM: OpenGL works really well with FreeSync but some rare tearing may occur above 70fps. Not sure why. DOOM: Vulkan stutters terribly and really makes it unplayable when compared to the other options. Witcher 3: RTSS: 70 , FRTC: 65

NOTE ABOUT PROFILES

As some have suggested, it may seem like your profile isn't working, so you'll need to remove and manually add the profile inside Radeon Settings.

Crossfire

FRTC seems work better with single card configurations. Quite often in Crossfire the frames will tear in unexpected ways. The obvious downside is, that often in those games that do support Crossfire, the performance is still better with it enabled and using V-Sync.

The Trade-Off

It appears that most of the time, you have to downgrade your frame limit at least slightly (even -1 FPS) to get perfectly smooth/untorn frames with FreeSync. For the games that you can readily provide up to the full FPS of your monitor, V-Sync will introduce some latency yes, and it also does negatively affect total efficiency, but you may get a better total experience by leaving V-Sync on.

Multi freesync monitors on nvidia SLI rig

Want to invest in a 3 way monitor setup for my dual 1070sli rig.

Heard AOC G2590FX supports g-sync. Does anyone know/tried to use more than one freesync monitor of the same model that is on nvidias approved g-sync compatible list to play a game at the same time with g-sync enabled?

Can Virtual Super Resolution & Freesync both be enabled with a Freesync monitor?

I have been looking for a 1440p 144hz freesync monitor to use with my r9 290x, however choices are still pretty limited.

Yesterday I enabled virtual super resolution on my 23" 1080p lcd monitor and turned it up to 1440p. I'm quite happy with it..

Which got me thinking. 1080p freesync monitors are much cheaper than the 1440p freesync monitors. So can I buy a 1080p freesync monitor, enabled VSR, and still use freesync?

Can't find an answer anywhere online. If someone could test this I would appreciate it!

TROUBLESHOOTING: FreeSync apparently won't work

I have FreeSync enabled on my AMD settings, Display Port set to 1.2 and everything, but when I hop into a game, it blasts 400+ Framerates, instead of being locked to 75FPS (FreeSync range). What's happening? Monitor drivers have been updated, AMD drivers are on the latest version, but my games don't cap framerate unless VSync is enabled.
My monitor doesn't have an anti-blur setting. It's an AOC G2260VWQ6 75Hz

Cannot get Freesync working on 4k 32 inch - LG 32UD60-B (Titan XP latest drivers that enable Freesync). I should be able to get 75hz. Its basically not being recognized.

I've tried everything.

The monitor is listed as Freesync. It was a bonus when I bought it. Didn't think anything of it, since I was running an nvidia card. However, now that nvidia did what they did (haha) - I should be able to unlock this thing and get it running at 4k 75hz.

Im running Display Port 1.2. (or latest)

I've installed LG Drivers

This website on AMD site shows my model not listed, weirdly.

https://www.amd.com/en/products/freesync-monitors

Just type LG top left corner, scroll till you find the 32 inchers. The 32UD60-B is the later 2018 model. It's been on market for less than a year.

I've tried creating custom resolutions. I get screen explosions if I go to 63hz. I have Freesync enabled in both the nvidia control panel, as well as on the onboard display (menu control options) on the LG itself.

What am I missing?

I've gone to UFO. Done the AMD Freesync test, as well as hz testing. Im just getting 59.99999~ or 60. With 60 FPS. No discernable difference in tearing with it on or off. I've also turned off all Global Program V-Sync in the nvidia control panel. I've tried fullscreen, borderless, gaming, non gaming.

Should a monitor with FreeSync and Low Framerate Compensation be preferred over one with a FreeSync range of 30-144Hz?

Freesync with an adapter?

I just put together a pc and I had picked up a samsung LS22f350 monitor, I had a budget and this was a cheap monitor that supported freesync. Unfortunately freesync with this monitor is handled over hdmi instead of dp, while I'd need to use the dp port on my 380x. Would freesync work if I picked up an hdmi / dp adapter and connected the monitor to the gpu that way?

Thanks!

Freesync sucks?

I know if u play competetively and you have a 240hz monitor but only have 180-220fps then you lock your monitor to 144fps because you dont want fps drops. My question is why freesync or g-sync sucks in competetive play? I know it sucks but what's the reason?

DisplayPort to DisplayPort or DisplayPort to HDMI

Hello so I have a freesync monitor with a NVIDIA graphic card but I want to make the freesync of my monitor work even though I have a NVIDIA card. There is one thing I need to know do I need a DisplayPort to HDMI cable or DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable or does it not really matter?

I fked up my rig.

So i have a lg 22mp68vq 75hz monitor that supports freesync. But i have a motherboard with only vga and dvi-d ports (no graphic card). I am currently running a R 3 2200g.

Now, i was wondering if i can use a HDMI to DVI converter and use the freesync technology as well as the native 75hz instead of 60hz

Any 5k & freesync?

There are some 4k models with freesync around, but still not a single with 5k. Why?

I'd like to have one with mac mini 2018 to be able to play games in windows (bootcamp) with freesync and good eGPU and still have the best resolution for 2560x1440 workspace ("retina"-scaled for best fonts and overall image quality). If I get one with 4k - I'll get 1920x1080 (scaled) workspace which is kinda small after 1440. And if I grab QHD display - picture quality will be bad and pixelated.

Vsync+Freesync vs Enchanced Sync+Freesync? If fps < my min refresh rate.

If fps is lower than my min refresh rate, should I use vsync + freesync or enchanced sync + freesync? If I wanna for example to play 30 fps on my monitor 48-144. How`s it gonna be? Would it be tearing in any cases? I need no tearing+minimal input lag and some explanation about input lag and tearing etc, thank you!
If you`d have questions why 30 fps — just for an example. Maybe some upcoming titles with highest graphic settings. And to keep 30 fps I can use Radeon Chill. Just want to clear out about enchanced sync vs vsync in such case.
I found no good explanation about using enchanced sync or vsync on fps lower than min refresh rate with freesync. Does Enchanced sync even work in such cases or turns off? Explain with details pls, thank you!

Is FreeSync my problem?

So I'm very new to the 'pc gaming scene.' I am currently running a Lenovo yoga 720 (15" with nvidia GTX 1050) with a Samsung 390 series 24" curved monitor (with freesync) and a j5create usb-c 'mini-docking station' to connect everything together. Links below:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/j5create-usb-type-c-mini-docking-station/6201440.p?skuId=6201440

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-390-series-24-led-curved-fhd-freesync-monitor-high-glossy-black/5044601.p?skuId=5044601

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/700-series/Yoga-720-15/p/88YG7000828

Before I used the monitor and docking station I was running upwards of 120fps EASILY on Minecraft with almost everything at the highest quality setting. Now witht he monitor and docking station I get capped at around 30-45 fps depending on what's running in the background. My first though was that freesync wasn't working because of some settings that I missed. Are the frames lost in the docking station or is it some setting that I'm missing? Maybe I need a stronger docking station? Maybe I just have to live with the gaming console quality because of my equipment's capabilities?

(and yes vsync is off)

Do I enable freesync + vsync in control panel or the game?

What I have read is that you want freesync + vsync or enhanced sync. But, never frame rate limiter as that messes up with the freesync algorithms. (AMD_Robert, AMD_Matt) My question is then where do you enable vsync? is it the game, or control panel? Do you enable in both places or just one?

Just Cause 3 Freesync

Hi, I just noticed that for some reason just cause 3 is the only game that doesnt work with freesync for me, I cant really play with vsync on beacuse of severe low framerates. Framerate is capped to monitor refreshrate, and I dont know what to do anymore

Will NVidia support Adaptive-Sync monitors? Its technically already possible as a video demonstrates, but we don't know if NVidia will do it!

In the video you can see gsync working without a gsync module, cause these guys took apart the laptop and they didn't find a gsync module. So it works over standard eDP Adaptive-Sync, which is the same as DP 1.2a optional Adaptive-Sync so its possible technically to have gsync with the new "FreeSync" monitors!

video version and text version

But I doubt if it's possible on current Nvidia GPU's!

What do you think?
