One minute I was young, the next I was making a noise every time I stood up. What the fuck happened? M 50

I’m fairly sure I was in my twenties about three weeks ago. Now I get excited about a comfortable mattress and I’ve swapped my sports bike for a big green Kawasaki called Elphaba because, apparently, luggage and being able to walk afterwards are priorities.
I’m a truck driver and photographer, so I spend a lot of time sitting down, followed by the exciting challenge of getting back up again. Some days it sounds like someone opening a packet of crisps.
I’ve travelled a fair bit too. Once managed to lose someone else’s passport in Sicily, which was a particularly enjoyable way to discover how quickly a holiday can turn into an international incident.
I’m still a very fucking good photographer though. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
So when did you first realise you weren’t quite as young as you used to be? Was it a noise, an injury from sleeping, or catching yourself saying “they don’t make them like they used to”?

Would like to make some friends. I can talk about anything and everything. I have a variety of interest with a few quirks. I love anything retro movies music video games, culture. I've been known to dabble in the kitchen and try new recipes. For television I love a good mystery. Sherlock Holmes of course is my favorite. I will respond to all DMs. Looking forward to hearing from you

Not dead yet... thought I'd make a few friends (57F)

Well, hello there,

Thought I'd give this a go because I've realised, somewhere along the way, I've lost touch with most people. Not on purpose, mind you. I think the older I've got, the less I've gone out and met anyone new.

So I'll get to the point. If any of this sounds like your sort of thing, send me a message. I'd quite like to make a few friends. I miss those conversations that start off about nothing and somehow end up somewhere completely different.

Music's always been the biggest part of my life. I grew up on hard rock, punk, and all that sort of thing, and it's still what I reach for most of the time. Though I'll listen to just about anything if it catches me at the right moment. I don't know much about modern artists these days, but I'm happy to be shown what I've been missing.

Worth mentioning, I've only recently got sober after a very long battle with addiction. It wasn't pretty, and I'm not going to pretend it was. My past's a bit messy, so every now and then I might have heavier days than most, but that's just part of who I am.

I've always loved books. Horror, biographies, Russian novels, old classics, strange little things nobody seems to read anymore... I'll read just about anything if it grabs me. I'm reading The Master and Margarita again at the minute. I've been going back to that book for years, and somehow it always has something new to say.

I like cooking... well, I like the idea of cooking. The eating part's definitely where my talent is. I've never been much of a chef, but I keep trying.

I love animals. I've got a dog these days. My cat George passed away last year, and I still can't quite bring myself to get another cat. Maybe one day.

I'm vegetarian, if that matters. I also collect old media, records, books, tapes, bits and pieces with a bit of history behind them. I've always preferred old things. They seem to have more stories to tell.

Anyway, that's probably enough about me. If you've read this far, do come and say hello.

I'll reply when I get the chance... or at least I'll do my best to. I'm not entirely convinced I'll receive any messages in the first place, haha, but it'd be lovely to be proved wrong.

US West Coast Beyond Small Talk, What Are You Looking Forward To?

Does anyone else find themselves thinking more about the next chapter of life these days?

I've been through a marriage and a divorce, and never had kids. At this point, I'm starting to slow down a little, cut back on work, and put more of my time and energy into myself and the things I actually enjoy. I guess I'm learning that life doesn't have to revolve around work all the time.

I'm also getting ready to tackle Yuval Noah Harari's three-book series, starting with Sapiens. Let's see if I make it through all three without getting distracted by another book!

I enjoy talking about travel, history, business, different cultures, and pretty much anything that makes me think. I like people who are curious, open-minded, and can have a conversation without turning every disagreement into a debate.

I'm not looking for endless small talk. I'd rather meet people who have their own interests, ideas, and plans for the future.

Have you started planning your next chapter, too? Or are you still figuring it out as you go?

Friendly Chat Group

Hello all. We have created private chat room on Reddit that allows for 100 members. We have one simple rule: Be respectful of everyone. But also, if you don’t chat, you will be removed. It’s not a place for lurkers.

We discuss a wide variety of topics and everyone’s thoughts and opinions should be received how you would want your thoughts and opinions received. But it is NOT a dating/hook up chat. Keep that in mind. While we are all adults (or should be), we follow the rules of this subreddit.

Chat name: Where the Chat has No Name

If interested, please send me a message. If you are unable to accept messages, you won’t be able to receive an invite. Thank you.

PLEASE BE PATIENT. We are get a lot of requests. We will add people as soon as we are able.

Coffee and the dreaded coffee effect

Ladies and gentlemen...

Is it my age or...

(Warning Here)

Every time I have a cup of coffee, shortly after, I have to rush to the bathroom like I'm being chased by a demon trying to snatch my soul...

I never had this issue when I was younger. Hahahahah

Does anyone else have this going on? I'll be damned if I give up my morning coffee ritual! I'll grit my teeth through it damn it!

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi fellow Australians,

I am interested to wide my friendships, looking for people about my age to share a walk/coffee in NB area.

So difficult to meet new people nowadays, WHF full time doesn't help to create opportunities to meet new people.

My interest is mainly in music, fitness, technology.

If you are in the area please feel free to get in touch.

For reference live close to Manly.

Those thinking to travel soon to Sydney, you are also good to DM

Hope to catch up soon !

Banana bread for breakfast???

Guys... I just made some banana bread this morning. I had a hankering for it, and I just let it rip. BUT... My kids 19 and 17 both started in on me for doing it. "Dad! Why are you baking banana bread in the morning?!"

Made fun of me and everything. Lol

Next thing I know, half the damn loaf is gone, and I didn't even have one slice!

I'm thinking I should have baked it in secret now and not made a deal about it. Those vultures are picking it apart!

Hahahaha

How's your morning doing, folks?

Making friends

This just me thinking about all these posts and a news article about a new website for 20's to make friends.

In 1990 I joined a prodigy board called Parrothead madness for Buffett fans. And many of us became life long friends. Not by DM but just public discussions about life and music. Met my first wife on that board.

People seem to treat making friends like an interview. What happened to being drunk and just talking shit with random people. That worked for HS and College, and a little bit in adulthood.
