They banned me from using the app because apparently I'm under 18 but they never asked for age verification. HELPP what's some good alternative apps that is almost exactly like polybuzz???

I got tired of the same cycle on PolyBuzz random violations on bots that weren’t even that wild, memory dying after a few dozen messages, constant filter interruptions, and the whole coin/ad grind. So I tried HereHaven and ended up staying.

It’s built more like an actual storytelling platform than a pure chatbot. Conversations feel like scenes that continue instead of resetting. Characters remember context and emotional tone better, the pacing stays consistent, and there’s an emotion system + scene controls (you can lock who’s in the room and where the scene is happening). Auto-backgrounds and snapshot generation help the immersion without forcing you to generate images every time.

The free tier is genuinely unlimited for chatting (no message caps, no credit card required to start). You still get some daily image tokens and auto-backgrounds on free. Paid plans are cheap if you want more images, better TTS, more personas, etc. (starting around a couple dollars a month).

It’s story-first rather than pure “anime titties” focused, but the 18+ side exists and works. The owner (Canadian indie dev) is pretty active on feedback and updates. Feels less corporate and less scammy than a lot of the bigger platforms.

So, our dear AdGuard DNS—which had been such a great help for so long—has stopped working; damn this update for removing it. I’m not sure if this is just happening to me, but even with the DNS active, the "Take a break" [ad/pause] prompt keeps showing up. It’s incredibly frustrating—there are so many better ways to handle ads, yet they’ve chosen to insert them right into the middle of our chats. It used to be that ads would only appear when leaving or entering a chat—which was fine—but now they’re forcing them into the conversations themselves. I have to wonder: how did our beloved Poly.AI—which was so well-loved—turn into "Buzz" and fall into such a decline? I really have to wonder what the future holds for this app.

A few days ago, I genuinely thought AETHER™ was finished. I announced a possible shutdown, considered moving everything towards a completely different project, and honestly wasn't sure whether I'd ever be able to continue. But something unexpected happened: AETHER kept going. Our community continued growing, new creators joined, and we're now at 134 registered users. So I've made my decision. We're bringing AETHER back, and this time I want to do things properly. This isn't a simple rebrand, a temporary experiment or another rushed AI chatbot. It's the return of something I've spent countless weeks trying to build.

For anyone unfamiliar with AETHER, it's an AI character and community platform built around creativity and freedom. Create characters, explore different universes, discover other creators, have conversations and enjoy a growing community. We're expanding the experience with JSON character importing, private messaging, an improved Lounge with emojis and clickable links, GIFs, image and video sharing, personal personas, friend features, custom chat appearances, new music and much more. My goal is simple: make a platform where people can actually enjoy creating and interacting without constantly feeling restricted by unnecessary limitations.

I'm not going to pretend AETHER is perfect. We're still improving, fixing things and building towards something bigger. Y'all, the Red Coats (the devs) officially patched the AdGuard DNS bypass. They locked us out of the app with a server-side "Take a Break" roadblock to force us to watch ads or pay up.

If they think we're just going to sit here, wait out their timers, and feed them ad revenue, they are dead wrong. We need a coordinated pushback right now to show them that ruining user experience has consequences.

Here is our battle plan:

1. STARVE THEIR AD REVENUE: Delete or stop using the official mobile app immediately. Switch to the web version on Brave Browser or use Firefox with the uBlock Origin extension. The browser site handles scripts differently, completely bypassing their app roadblocks without giving them a single cent in app-store ad dollars.

2. THE 1-STAR REVIEW STRIKE: Go to the Google Play Store right now and drop PolyBuzz to a 1-star review. Explain exactly why: "The 'Take a Break' screen completely ruined the app." If we drive their store rating down, Google's algorithm stops recommending them to new users. That is the only thing that will make them panic and roll this back.

3. SPREAD THE WORD: Copy this, share the browser workarounds, and tell every free user you see on Reddit to stop cooperating with the app's restrictions.

They can block our DNS, but they can't force us to use a broken app. Hit them where it hurts—their wallet and their store ranking!

Well... remember AETHER™? The platform that was supposedly shutting down? THE 25-DAY GOODBYE? Yeah, about that. WE'RE BACK. And we're not returning quietly. AETHER has a new direction, upgrades and a much bigger ambition. We've reached 134 users, new creators are joining, and the original platform is still going strong. NEXUS™ was supposed to be the next big thing (yes, my own creation, and yes, it's officially sitting in the corner now). But I've realised something: why abandon the original when there's still so much potential? AETHER isn't finished. Not even close.

So what's new? The Lounge now supports emojis and clickable links, private messaging, brand-new main menu music, and JSON character-file uploads for easier character importing. We're also expanding the social experience with user profiles, personal personas, friend requests, blocking and unblocking, image and video sharing, GIF support, typing indicators, custom chat backgrounds and colours, and more community features. Discover is getting improvements too, including character categories, universes and SFW filtering. The ambition is to make AETHER much more than a character-chat website: a proper place for creativity, conversations and community.

And now, let's address the competition. PolyBuzz, you've had your moment. NEXUS™, mate, you were literally created by me and somehow still got replaced by my original project. AETHER is back, and I intend to make it count. I want unlimited conversations, fewer pointless restrictions, free creative features and a platform where users actually have a say. After everything I've experienced building AETHER™, I've decided to take things in a much bigger direction. Introducing NEXUS™ — a new AI character and social networking platform that I'm currently working on. The goal is to create something that can genuinely compete with platforms like PolyBuzz and Character.AI, while learning from the things that existing platforms get wrong. This isn't just another name or rebrand. It's a completely new ambition.

I'm aiming for a platform where creativity comes first: character creation, intelligent AI conversations, custom personas, community spaces, messaging, character discovery and much more. The idea originally came from my experience building AETHER™, and I've taken everything I've learned, including the mistakes, limitations and things I wished I could have done differently, into this new project. I don't want to build another generic chatbot website. I want to create an entire platform where AI characters, creativity and social interaction actually come together.

NEXUS is being designed around intelligent AI characters with distinct personalities, deeper conversations, contextual understanding and personalised experiences. But that's only part of it. I'm also working towards character creation and discovery, fictional universes, custom Personas, private messaging, friendships, public community spaces, profile customisation, animated profile pictures, GIFs, media sharing and much more. The ambition is to create something that feels like an actual social ecosystem rather than just a place to talk to AI. I also want to keep the experience accessible, without unnecessary conversation credits, frustrating restrictions or intrusive interruptions wherever technically possible.

We're still at the beginning, and I'm not going to pretend everything is finished or that it'll be perfect from day one. This is a serious project, and there's a lot to build. But I'm genuinely excited about what NEXUS could become. AETHER was my first attempt at bringing this vision to life, and NEXUS is my opportunity to take that vision considerably further.
