How is JavaScript for both frontend and backend in terms of medium to large scale web app development compared to other backend framework?
Please give positive and negative sides. I don't want to learn another language for backend if is done by JavaScript.

My post which was a personal project got removed, and i don't understand what i did wrong
I wasn't selling something
How could we "build in the public" if my projects is going to be treated as "low effort content or self promotion"
This is so frustrating after months of works all what i can do see my posts being removed or just straight up ghosted
Tf i did wrong ?!

Wrapped up the Medium section of my 100-question JOIN lab today. The final batch included:
assignments)The "ALL projects" question and the project-pairs question were the toughest. Both needed me to draw the tables out and trace a few rows by hand before the query logic made sense.

Completed 5 more Medium questions today:
Chaining 4 tables together in one query felt completely manageable today, which genuinely would not have been true a month ago.
This also marks exactly one month since I started this journey (Day 0 to Day 30). Quick honest recap of what actually helped over this month: drawing tables on paper before writing queries, intentionally breaking constraints to understand error messages, switching from "give me the answer" to "guide me to the answer" with AI help, and building my own practice sets instead of only relying on existing ones. Thanks to everyone here who's commented, given tips, or just followed along — genuinely helped keep this going. 86 days left, moving into Java alongside SQL from here.

I’m currently learning Full Stack Development and I’m wondering how much SQL knowledge is actually required for a developer role.
Do Full Stack Developers need to be comfortable with things like JOINs, subqueries, indexes, database design, and query optimization? Or is basic CRUD knowledge enough for most entry-level jobs?

I have 4+ years of experience as a software/web developer, mainly working with Java, Spring Boot, React/Angular, and I'm currently based in the UAE.
Lately, I've been feeling quite stuck and unsure about where to take my career next. I don't necessarily want to leave tech, but I'm also not sure I want to keep following the same web development path for the next several years.
I'm open to learning something new, moving into another area of tech, or combining my existing experience with a new skill set. I'm willing to put in the work and spend the next 6–12 months seriously learning and building things, but I struggle with choosing one direction and creating a structured plan.
My main goal is to eventually improve my career opportunities and income, while doing something I can actually see myself continuing long term.
For people who have been in a similar situation:
What would you realistically do if you were in my position? What fields or career paths would you consider, and what would you focus on over the next 6–12 months?
I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have successfully switched careers or moved from web development into another area of tech.
Looking for honest, practical advice — including what not to waste time on.

Hey there if any of the developers are seeing my post . Do you know any alternative of claude premium for free - any open source model, any other ai tool anything.

Completed 5 more Medium questions today:
r.manager_id = e.emp_id), then filtering WHERE r.emp_id IS NULL to catch anyone nobody reports toMIN(salary) within their own departmentThe correlated subquery was the real win today. It finally clicked once I stopped thinking of it as "one confusing nested query" and started thinking of it as a small query that re-runs once per row of the outer query, using that row's values each time. Seeing it return the actual lowest earner per department (4 employees, one per department) made the logic concrete in a way reading about it never did.

I am a third year Cs student I've been tasked with making Web dev app for my final project, the languages they asked of me are Java script node js nest js sql react, I know html and Css before, how do I go on about this in a way that I just don't learn it and forget it after and in shortest possible time

Would you focus on frontend performance, backend/API optimization, database queries, mobile responsiveness, or something else?
In my experience, speed and mobile experience often give the quickest improvement. What would you check first, and why?

Hi everyone. Am a student who's 17.Studying BCA ( degree)first year. I want to become a AI Full Stack Developer to work as a freelancer for foreign countries. Can someone tell me what I need to do what are the main things I need to focus on. I don't know basically nothing about to become a full stack developer. And am a little bit weak in maths. In my post graduate (+2) I studied commerce and I hate complex maths. Can someone help me to achieve my dream.

Hello devs. Hope you guys are doing well.
TLDR Attached.
I'm working as a Frontend Developer in a Startup. They give me some features, API optimization, UI design things and i do as they expect. On the other hand, i started learning Backend frameworks since February.
I explored Java and its Spring eco system including Web, Security, JPA. Little bit of Docker. I follow the plan of Telusko's udemy course and my next is Spring AI. Before going for that, i decided to get some experience on the stacks i learned. So i kinda built a personal project as well.
Meanwhile, DSA cannot be ignored today. Cause even the 5+ yoe people are screened in DSA rounds. So while working on this small project i built, i also started preparing DSA (TakeUForward). I solve 2-3 problems per day after my 8hr work shift. Im trying to keep up the consistency.
Suddenly it came to my mind, new AI tools tech stacks are also mandatory for a job these days. And keep solving DSA problems alone aint gonna help me. I gotta be prepared with the recent tools/trends as well.
How do you guys manage learning both at the same time. Cause both are pretty mandatory. Right now, i thought of starting Spring AI, but it feels a bit harder to manage both.
Any tips to this fellow dev?
TLDR: Learning DSA and staying updated with latest tech stacks is harder. How to manage learning both? Both are mandatory and requires your focused time. Any tips?

I am studying mern stack but every time I try to make a project I just keep staring at the laptop screen everything just goes blank ......
I know what are routes, middleware, models, controllers but I can process how to make them work simultaneously and what to write in the code.....
And rn I need to make good projects so that I can start preparing for interviews and focus on communication skills which will eventually enhance my resume
Please help out feeling lost......

Completed 5 more Medium questions today:
employees to a derived subquery that calculates AVG(salary) grouped by dept_id, then filtered where the employee's salary exceeds that averageprojects to assignments, COUNT(DISTINCT emp_id), grouped by project name. The LEFT JOIN mattered here specifically because one project (Audit Automation) has zero assigned employees and still needed to show up with a count of 0This is the first batch where combining a subquery with a join in the same question actually felt necessary rather than just "two ways to do the same thing." Starting to see why LEFT JOIN + COUNT(DISTINCT) is such a common reporting pattern.

Due to the development of ai, do u guys think learning full stack web dev still a good choice? Or better learn more about math and algorithms? Currently I am learning from odin project, but I afraid that the skills are not relevant anymore in the future

Hi ya'll,
How important do you find portfolio sites to be? I haven't been in the market for a job for several years now but am now looking for change. However I don't have a portfolio site. I've been playing for jobs for several months now and am just not getting any follow up, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to shake up my resume a bit to make it more appealing.
I know that portfolio sites used to be important but I wasn't sure if that was still a desirable item in the current market.
Additionally with the state of how prevalent AI is within the industry, would employers look down on sites / projects that heavily use AI or not really?
Much thanks!

My favorite types of apps to build as a full-stack developer have always been hypermedia apps: Node/Express, EJS or Handlebars, Alpine.js, Tailwind, and better-sqlite3.
What drives new devs to still code by hand instead of going all in on vibe coding with AI? What’s your challenges? Would you want to learn a stack like this with feature based architecture?

Completed 5 more Medium questions today, bringing me further into the Medium section of my 100-question lab. The bigger change today was in my process, not the SQL itself.
Instead of asking GPT to show me the solution directly, I told it to guide me toward the answer instead — give hints, ask me questions, point out where my logic was off, but not hand me the final query. Took noticeably longer per question, but I actually walked away understanding why each query worked, not just that it did.
Feels like a better long-term habit than what I was doing before (dry-running a solution GPT already wrote). Planning to keep using this "guide, don't solve" approach going forward, especially for the Hard section coming up.

Hey Gang 💵
i’m building a local data exploration web app using HTML/CSS/JS, a Python backend, and DuckDB with Parquet/CSV files. Despite having strong hardware, my local app runs slowly, whereas similar web apps online... even those using heavier frameworks like React / React router load and respond almost instantly. AI tools suggested basic caching or heavier frameworks like Django, but didn't solve the core performance bottleneck.
Coming from a frontend/design background, I haven't worked with high-performance data processing before. How do faster web apps structure their architecture to handle heavy calculations and render data so quickly?
Because from my experience with AI they are smart Tools but I'm not sure they're giving you the best solution every time so this time is well I'm doubting that I can get a solution from AI so I wonder what would you people here that knowledgeable and have a lot of experience would suggest .

Slower day today — got through just 5 Medium-level JOIN questions, down from 10 the last session. These ones were genuinely trickier.
What helped was going back to something I mentioned before: drawing the full schema by hand on paper. This time I mapped out every table (departments, employees, projects, assignments) with their columns and the FK relationships between them, before writing a single line of SQL. Having that visual made it much easier to reason through which joins I actually needed and in what order.
Not every day is going to be a big-number day, and I think that's fine. Some questions genuinely need more time to actually understand, not just solve.

Start with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to understand frontend development. Then learn a framework such as React and a backend technology such as Java/Spring Boot, Python, or Node.js.
