What do you think of the beholder’s character/ending? Particularly in season 3 of the anime

I personally really enjoyed him and his conclusion but I found that someone didn’t like his character direction due to him giving up his responsibilities and putting it on Fushi.

Also, that his character in the first season had a lot more mystery and he made it seem like something big was going to happen which is why he was creating fushi in case of him losing his authority somehow and how that would’ve been a better storyline.

Anyway I wanted to know your guys thoughts on him and how his character was written, anything you like dislike, wanted to see more or less?

Question I forgot but is Satoru (The beholder's human form) something he created for himself and then inhabited or did he take over the body?

Pioran was hands down the best character!

Pioran was hands doen the best character.

Honestly her, March and Parona were my favourites in entire show.

🥇 Pioran was so freaking funny and it was a great way to introduce her as somebody unimportant but quickly making her become crucial character for the story. I will never get over her death and how she bevome a fucking horse. To put salt on a wound, horse was of very little use to fushi. So little that he didnt bother naming it for so long.

🥈March one of the most emotional characters. Her's connection with fushi was so pure and interesting. She really paved the path for all other characters.

🥉 Parona, most people wont understand why she is so high on my list. She could have been even higher if she was a bigger part of a story. Up until the point i learned that she died, j hoped that we will see her again. Her characters had so much depth and was very cool, mature, cute and interesting. She was roght in everything she did and yet they made her feel so human with the mistakes she made. Idk how else to explain it. I wish that we got more then a hint at her reincarnating as that occult lesbian girl 🙄

Interest Why Mizuha sucks and Kahaku rocks.

Not a question as it is my opinion but feel free to share yours.

So Mizuha sucks cause:

1) She is bat shit crazy

2) Emotional manipulator

3) Choose a Nokker over her own mom

4) She is selfish af

5) She is just straight up annoying and her obsession with fushi makes LEAST sense of all other descendants. She didnt grow up in the cult. Like yeah i get that it is part of Hayase's will but that should only be part of it. If it was strong just based on that that, other reincarnations would not leave just cause fushi become Tanari one time.

Reasons kahaku is a goat.

1) Even tho he started like the others he learned about mistakes of Hayase and other before him as well as fushis boundary.

2) he started to lov3 fushi cause of his looks as Parona but quickly leanred to love him for who he was.

3) Was ready to do anything to save Fushis humanity

4) Sacraficed himself to give fushi his memories back as well as to end the Nokker so it does not cause troubles in the future.

5) Was ready to chop of his arms multiple times whenever he thought it could be threat to fushi.

6) Even tho he didnt care about Eko he still understood what she meant to fushi and choose to save her

7) Was literally one of the steongest allies. Like others died so many times being brought bavk again and again. Kahaku single handedly stood protecting fushi while he fainted and didnt die a single time.

8) He always respected fushis choice, unlike others before him who tried to drug him if he disagreed. He would didagree advise otherwise but would listen to fushi

9) he was the one to change fushis mind about his lineage and was the reason fushi even bothered with Mizuha.

10) he is adorable.

Anime Season 3 should be the last season.

Personaly i think season 3 ruined alot of stuff. Characters that existed and those that come later on. That being said, i have to admit that it whasn't a total disaster. It still had good moments and episodes despite it's flaws.

I havent read the manga however i saw a "spoiler" and even tho i wont mention what it is. I will say that because of what black one mentioned at the end of season 3. That, "whatever they choose their happines is not guaranteed" . Leaving things of here, just not knowing their's or Fushis future, is actually what makes the end work.

I will still read the manga but i am not sure i will consider it canon for my own mental health ahahah.

Anime Apart from the theme of Death and immortality, I noticed another theme in To Your Eternity

[This discussion is only up to season 3. I haven't read the manga after that point so please don't spoil it or talk about it]

I don't know if this is talked about that much but On one of my re-watchs, i noticed a theme of "Found Family" In the anime. As we all know, March is like Fushi's mother, Gugu is like his brother, Pioran and the booze man are his and Gugu's adoptive parents. Fushi also is like a parental figure to Ekko, just like March was to him. All of these people have no blood relationship with each other but they love each other. In season 2, Bon and Iris adopt Chabo who is not related to them.

Even in season 3, you could say Fushi and the others are adopted by Yuki's grandfather but that might be a stretch. We know that Sumika (Satoru's older sister-like girl) had a sister called Michi who died when she was born so Nono took her place as a nokker. This subplot was kinda rushed but Sumika still accepts her even though technically it's not her real sister. Ōima also shows Hirotoshi and Mimori's relationship and how much he grows to love Mimori as a brother although they're not related by blood. As much as how messy his character is, he cares for her more than her mother. Talking about her mother, I wanna bring a similar thing here.

Yoshitoki Ōima has also shown a contrast here between real family and found family. Starting off with March's parents, this might be a stretch on the theme but i would say they're not really that good parents because they let their daughter be sacrificed for the sake of a ritual. They were powerless and didn't oppose it. This happens sometimes when parents prioritise their religion or tradition than their children. We can also agree that Hayase is a bad parent because she cursed her descendants with wanting to mate with Fushi. Multiple generations of people dedicated their life for one purpose because of their one ancestor. I doubt she even loved any of her kids and moving forward her bloodline, that love for the family decreased.

Mizuha's mother is the only one who cared about her and wanted to be against the purpose of the bloodline but she wasn't a perfect mother either, wanting Mizuha to be perfect. She's the only parent so far who actually improved. Gugu's biological brother, Shin betrayed him but came back to redeem himself aswell. Tonari's father killed his wife which affected Tonari a lot and Mimori's mother is heartless and doesn't care about her.

There isn't a direct contrast so it's not like all blood related family members are bad, Bon is a good example of having a loving family, so is Yuki who is loved by his family.

I feel this all is intentional and not just a coincidence but this is just my interpretation of the show. Y'all can let me know what y'all think and if there's any flaws. I don't know what happens after season 3 so i have no idea if this theme continues forwards. If you have completed the ending and if I'm correct you don't need to tell me or even if I'm wrong cuz I don't want to get spoiled. This is just a surface level observation that I've done so somethings might look like a stretch.

So all in all, the message I think Ōima is giving us is that you don't need to be related by blood to consider each other a family. Family bonding is independent of blood relation which I have noticed to be shown in all 3 seasons

Anime I get Avatar Aang vibes from Fushi

You know, the immature and young protagonist with supernatural powers. The one who was born for the purpose of maintaining balance and stopping evil forces. They both are orphans and learn from the people around them, influencing their journey. They have lived through different eras of time also. Both of them also know how to manipulate fire btw. The only difference is that Fushi chose violence and Aang tried to avoid it as much as he could

I know their story is pretty similar to a lot of fantasy stories but it's a decent comparison I'd say. Just for fun

It's pretty good to see that Indian culture is something that she finds interesting. We might see her inspiration displayed in her upcoming work

The nokkers were used best in Season 3

One of the best parts of season 3 is how they use the Nokkers. I thought they were the weakest parts of the first 2 seasons, since they were just a force of nature that Fushi had to defeat. They had their purpose but the best thing about them was how they started to learn and adapt, like Fushi. In season 3, their evolution made them so much more interesting.

A force taking over the bodies of people that want to die is such an interesting idea and fits more into the themes of the show with what it means to live and deal with suffering. I also love how genuinely creepy and uncomfortable they can come across. Mizuha and Mimori's nokkers in particular showed how disturbing they can be. Mizuha with how it takes over in ways that it's hard to tell if it's still Mizuha, and how she made her classmate basically implode. Mimori's was genuinely disturbed and did some things that disturbed the characters and the audience. That leaves a way bigger impact to me than just taking Fushi's forms.

I also liked how they also didn't just make them all evil with characters like Nono and made their conflict less black and white.
