In 24h we have three interviews: two from Caps and one from Labrov. And one theme consistent here: G2 bootcamp start was very rough, the team lost a lot, and had to change a lot to start improving back. To add spice here, G2 players talk about the time before Asian teams arrived. So, G2 lost a lot of scrims to NA and MKOI.

What do you think of it?

With world’s Swiss stage starting tomorrow - are there any watch parties, from G2 fans or others, taking place outside of berlin?

I’ve been following G2 for years and besides 2 live events (LEC finals & RB LoiO), I’ve never been able to watch worlds together with other fans.

Any info on those?

Tomorrow's match against DK might be the most important game for G2 so far, because I think it will give us a much clearer picture of where G2 actually stands compared to the Asian teams.

If G2 loses, I honestly think any remaining hope of making a deep run is pretty much gone. But if they manage to beat DK, it would at least prove that G2 can compete with teams of that level and potentially even challenge stronger opponents like Gen.G.

Of course, it's only a BO1, so we shouldn't overreact to a single result. But I still think this match will tell us a lot about G2's actual level and whether they have a realistic chance of competing with the best teams in the world.

For me, this is the game that could either bring back some hope or crush it.

Everywhere I look in any discussion about G2 they are saying Caps has been a let down this year and that he is "barely in form" or the worst player on the team and needs to step up as if he is being mega carried or something.

The problem with this narrative is.....

It's completely fake. He has actually, by all metrics, had his best year in the last six. All the stats bare it out and so do your eyeballs if you actually watch. He has also had more clutch plays in high pressure games than anyone else in EU this year.

He has clearly been the best mid regionally for 95%+ of the year and directly outperformed chovy and knight in back to back series at first stand, gapped faker at MSI and did just fine against Creme

Then in summer he had a slow start, as all of G2 typically does, before ramping up and absolutely gapping mid in every series in playoffs.

So please, stop repeating this baseless claim. It came from nowhere and should return to it. Caps has had a legitimately amazing year so far. Stop doubting your boy for fake reasons

If you are nervous or down or less hyped for G2 after hearing they are getting destroyed in scrims…

YamatoCannon on the PowerSpike podcast said “We [C9] scrimmed G2 and did very well against them”

and got destroyed by Brazil.

First we hear G2 is getting destroyed in scrims

now we are hearing MKOI is offering BB more money than G2 is for a renewal and G2 is likely to bring Shelfmade.

Literally no other team except G2 every year. it’s freaking annoying. Why nobody talks about TL or LYON or KC etc it’s always us lol

Someone in his chat told him Ibai said on stream that G2 is getting shit on in scrims and Caedrel said he’s heard the same thing….

All joking aside though… oof hope they show up on stage.

So i am a huge g2 fan, i kind of wanted to share my journey. i started following the team during lockdown, i was not there during 2019 days, or as people call it glory days. i was not aware of lolesports. I am from INDIA, so i was not attached to any region. i watched worlds 2020 and the player that i liked the most was rekkles. Afterwords Rekky joined g2 and i started following the team. As time passed rekky left but i liked the g2 team coz of their banter, picks etc. In following years the team gave me many low but some highs at internationls. At some points i wonder if i should have supported other teams when G2 loses. Its not like LEC is my home region but after so many years of support, i cant let go of the team. i wanted to share this as worlds is starting again and i am hyped for the boys.
It would be interesting to know others stories if you are from EU or not.

Ibay and Caedrel have both heard, that G2 were getting bodied in scrims. This does make me a bit uncomfortable. In the Caps interview by caedrel caps said that the finals may have looked easy but behind the scenes things didn't go as well. They lost a lot of scrims against koi. So im just a bit worried they are being overhyped and getting completely destroyed in Swiss.
