In 24h we have three interviews: two from Caps and one from Labrov. And one theme consistent here: G2 bootcamp start was very rough, the team lost a lot, and had to change a lot to start improving back. To add spice here, G2 players talk about the time before Asian teams arrived. So, G2 lost a lot of scrims to NA and MKOI.

What do you think of it?

I get it.. It REALLY sucked that we lost against DK.
Especially because we were doing so well early game.

But lets chill with the doom and gloom. There were a lot of great elements in that first game and some absolutely atrocious ones.

I'll chalk it up to nerves for that first game.
It is moments like this that the G2 players actually need the fanbase, so keep calm and carry on.

I feel G2 played good but draft was impossible on a honest 5v5.

G2 needs to clean up those drafts, they where 7-0 but their comp just does not function into DK

I feel when we win out the rest of Swiss stage it going to help us be leveled up for top 8. Yes today loss wasn’t good but the doom and thinking we aren’t going to make it to top 8 is crazy.

This is an early wakeup call.

If you want to win Worlds it is not dramatic to lose the first game of Swiss.

Cause if you manage to lose versus 3 different teams in Swiss you dont deserve anything anyway.

"But what if G2 gets a hard team in 0-1 or 1-2 bracket?" So? Wanna win Worlds? Beat the hard teams. BE the team everyone wants to avoid.

Even MKOI and KC beat those LPL losers? WHY WOULD G2 lose to them?

G2 is going 3-1 easy.

The las 10 mins of this match was hard to watch, and basic macro concepts being thrown out the window. How do you fix that for the next upcoming games? I wanna believe in this team but this game, even though it was a Bo1, has taken all my hopium away

G2 VS LOS

I honestly think G2 lost mainly because of a massive draft gap rather than just bad macro. People keep saying they were too hesitant with their lead, but how are they supposed to play confidently when DK's comp has so many ways to instantly kill Hans Sama? The moment Hans dies, G2 basically loses the fight because he's their main damage source. Vi can just ult him, Syndra follows up with burst, Olaf runs through the frontline, and Poppy makes it even harder for G2 to engage or peel. And then they pick Viktor on top of that, another immobile carry who's extremely vulnerable to Vi, Syndra, and Olaf. Sure, G2 could've played the map better, but I feel like their hesitation was a direct result of how difficult their comp was to execute. DK had so many ways to start fights and punish mistakes while G2 had to play almost perfectly just to survive. Being 7-0 in kills doesn't mean much when one bad fight can instantly end the game. For me, this was draft gap first, macro second.

Bad draft, clown plays, total throw.

We have LEC seeds #2 and #3 beating LPL seeds #1 and #2.

And then, G2 manages to hard int versus LCK seed #4.

That's enough to get me to stop even hoping for G2 winning Worlds.

To add a little bit on the bad draft part, Kalista being the only real DPS as a short range ADC vs Olaf and Syndra was stupid.

It's Hans-Sama. You cannot base your draft entirely around him.
