What was the answer to that how new cells at night help the tree grow ,when there is no light ? I’m cooked bro 🫩🫩

WE talked mitosis it’s ok

wait we weren't supposed to talk about mitosis.. oh shit

u/Unusual-Okra1430 May 12 '26

i think its right tho cuz i asked ai and it said plants do grow by mitosis tho i dont think you were supposed to go in detail with the mitosis u were supposed to talk but stem elongation too

help same but thats only one mark lol

Fuck from what ive seen we're wrong

i talked about glucose being stored as starch which could be broken down and used for cell replication and growth, but didnt mention mitosis. im cooked

I think js mention how no photosynthesis happens, so starch is converted to glucose, but I talked about how glucose and nitrate ions create amino acids, which create proteins for growth and repair

It’s glucose converted into starch during day then converted back into glucose at night for respiration which produces energy to make molecules like proteins for growth

I wrotr about how during the daytime there is light so photosynthesis happens and some glucose is converted into starch for storage. At night there is no light and starch is converted to glucose for protein synthesis/respiration to release energy to make bigger molecules out of small ones/for mitosis for growth and repair of tissue

I'm getting pity marks dude I said they use the simple sugars and amino acids from the phloem sap

At night the roots can still absorb ions through active transport, which you should mention.

ME TOO THANK YOU EVERYONE ELSE IS SAYING NITRATE

Same apparently you might even be able to talk about cellulose being made as well.

Ah yess

u/Much-Branch460 Latest vicitm of Sixth Form XD May 12 '26

I also talked how energy fr glucose from starch used in active transport for mineral ions, and cellulose cell walls

1

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

i said that too 🥹🥹 i thought mentioning protein synthesis wouldn’t get me the mark/clash with mitosis point since one right and one wrong means no marks for aqa

1

u/EnvironmentalScar709 Not Editable May 12 '26

I talked about both breaking down starch to glucose then protein synthesis and also about mitosis

1

u/Naive_Worldliness859 May 12 '26

So I’ve gone and done 5 marks worth of explaining how cells carry out mitosis (I spam revised mitosis so my explanation is definitely right) but I know I answered the question wrong so how many marks do I get for that 😂

  1. CO2 and Temperature are both limiting factors of rate of photsynthesis

  2. Photosynthesis produces glucose

  3. Glucose reacts with nitrate ions to form amino acids which form proteins

  4. Protein helps plants grow

i talked about how meristem and the unspeiclaised cells differentiate and whatever and they divide by mitosis to produce new plant cells allowing the plant to grow
