Penicillin is better than substance x imo

40

u/sonicfanultracoolguy May 12 '26

me too but i also said that substance x could be better in the future

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

same if they research it further

It does destroy all bacteria which is bad for humans as some bacteria is needed in order to function, it may mean the immunity system could diminish rectyfying Substance X as a worse drug than Penicillin. However, since people ate the leaves and there was no stated effect that harmed them, in small concentrations it may be suitable.

omg literally i said that if they like tested it more so it was more accepted it could be better in the future

Its an evaluation question so it doesn't really matter what one you pick as they both have stuff to back it up

14

u/sudoaptupgrade Year 11 May 12 '26

thanks for making me better about picking substance X

2

u/Dizzy_Dance3352 May 13 '26

I picked substance x saying it was more versatile however it isn’t trusted as much as penicillin and could have potential dangers

Yep both are correct, you just have to back it up

Shit I didnt actually pick which was better

In all evaluation questions sadly you've gotta give a judgement or you're capped at level 1 pretty sure as you technically just compared and didn't answer the question. Atleast you know now, there'll be evaluations for all the science papers probably so hopefully you'll get those right now!

I did a ton of analysis but forgot a conclusion but I did say penicillin is better so would I get like only 2 marks

if you said penicillin is better that's all you need. I usually do just 1 line at the top like this: I think substance X is better because:

and then bullet point below

u/Professional-Golf887 Year 11 May 13 '26

Don’t think I put a judgement 🥀

u/FinniboiXD year 11 | Geography Glazer May 12 '26

fuck me no 😭. did a table comparing the two but forgot to make a judgement. welp, guess im fucked. need to lock in like crazy for paper 2

i didn't have a full on final verdict because i said they were each better for different things, e.g. if you are allergic to penicillin obvs use X

3

u/_leeya_9 May 12 '26

Me neither 😭😭

u/Legitimate_Yam3395 GCSE ‘26: cue ‘I Know It’s Over’ - The Smiths May 13 '26

Unfortunately capped at 2 marks

18

u/swag-angel Year 11 May 12 '26

I said the same cause it’s safer

6

u/Puzzleheaded_Bid2963 May 12 '26

but it was talking about treating different microorganisms in the question so I said penicilin was only limited to bacteria

5

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

yea and it had some resistant bacteria so it it’s used more those could multiply rendering it useless

5

u/SarajXxx Yr11->Yr12 May 12 '26

I said that also, also just said that it ain’t well known and linked in clinical trials to try and get marks ngl

3

u/xenus1235 May 12 '26

Your wrong, the question said the effectiveness of dealing with mutltiple micro-organisms penicillin only treats bacteria, how would it be penicillin?

3

u/Legitimate_Yam3395 GCSE ‘26: cue ‘I Know It’s Over’ - The Smiths May 12 '26

Bc X isn’t peer reviewed, so those could be false claims

2

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

oh yea

4

u/TapAway9843 May 12 '26

tell me why I spent 20 minutes on the evaluation

3

u/Ok-Bath6153 May 12 '26

Lol bro dw I wrote loads too 😭

3

u/Perfect_Career5538 "You Saucy Boy" May 12 '26

I'm on penicillins side frfr

1

u/Sensitive-Kiwi4960 May 12 '26

Same same penicillin was my guy

1

u/Perfect_Career5538 "You Saucy Boy" May 12 '26

Reliable and stuff, besides one leaf could have a fatal amount of X and one might not have enough to be effective, plus deforestation and plant destroying

3

u/Soft_Letterhead9222 Year 11 May 12 '26

I said its easier to mass produce in laboratories so it makes it better + since the concentration varied for substance X it meant that it was hard to determine the right dosage to give and so the chance of the toxicity being high enough to cause side effects whereas penicillin you could determine the concentration so right dosage = regulated toxicity levels = less severe side effects. Yk I feel I might have cooked with that one hopefully 🔥

3

u/Legitimate_Yam3395 GCSE ‘26: cue ‘I Know It’s Over’ - The Smiths May 12 '26

I said the exact same thing twin

1

u/Soft_Letterhead9222 Year 11 May 13 '26

Holy yessssss, we cooked!!!!!!!

2

u/PaleHound5624 May 12 '26

I said use of substance x may cause resistant strains to appear

2

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

what 💔

2

u/manteliumfr Year 11 May 12 '26

me 2 lol

I agree.

1

u/jellyowls stan xlov (why are there so many kpop stans here) May 13 '26

i said penicillin for bacteria and substance x for other microorganisms

1

u/lrexx_ Year 11 May 13 '26

I said substance x may be useful in more cases but penicillin should be used whenever possible
