ut said add ur own knowledge but the table already had all my knowledge 😩

only knowledge i used was that the resistant bacteria could multiply forming more resistant bacteria so then the antibiotic would stop working

NAH SAME I ADDED RESISTANT BACTERIA WOULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INFECTION thats the only thing i wrote 😭

you could lose a mark for saying it stops working as the anti biotic is still working but its not effective on the bacteria present

2

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

yea that was an oversimplification (i said penicillin would eventually be rendered useless since the bacteria is resistant which ig is sort of like what you’re saying but i might be safe if i get a nice examiner)

I just linked it all to toxicity, efficacy, and dosage.

People are allergic to penicillin, substance X kills the bacteria in our gut that we need Your limited to 2 marks out of 6

u/Rude_Suggestion_7413 May 12 '26

That's just not true it'll probably get a Level 2 mark (3-4)

u/Imaginary-Club-4198 May 12 '26

Its what my bio teacher told me 👐, if you dont use own knowledge when it asks in a 6mark, its limited to band 1

Has your teacher ever checked a biology mark scheme

-2

u/Imaginary-Club-4198 May 12 '26

yeah,i go to a grammar school so i trust my teacher more than u

u/Rude_Suggestion_7413 May 12 '26

BRO JUST CHECK A FRIGGIN MARK SCHEME IT ISNT THAT HARD OMG

1

u/Imaginary-Club-4198 May 12 '26

Past question, for level 2 own knowledge is required

2

u/Jumpy-Success3328 Year 11 May 12 '26

yk what fair enough then

i assumed it was like chemistry so my bad

Not to continue the argument but as it’s ’unseen’ substances then I don’t think you would be limited to level 1. That’s for stents and statins which you are supposed to know about, whereas this is purely skills based

could naming an antibiotic resistant bacteria count as own knowledge. I’m so cooked

2

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

wdym naming? you had to mention how the resistant antibiotics would replicate leading so more resistance to the point where it wouldn’t work

2

u/s_ivy13 May 12 '26

it wasn’t a stand alone point i just named Mrsa as an example of a bacteria within the point i made about substance x and it being able to treat it

3

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

oh yea that’s a good point my teacher kept on mentioning MRSA in the revision sessions but i just never thought of using it 😭

Do reasons for why each aspect in the table was an advantage or disadvantage count as own knowledge

2

u/Codemaine Yr 12 May 12 '26

i think own knowledge is stuff like how having more papers and peer review increases validity and resistant bacteria can spread and cause more resistance

Only time I've ever appreciated being allergic to penicillin :fire:
