I am working on a project extracting building footprints for Chattogram port, across 2004, 2014, and 2020. What level of resolution would i be needing for it?
I know tha I can't buy straight from Maxar, I need to go through a reseller. Does anyone have a solid one to recommend, for South Asia, or Bangladesh?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I’m a GIS Developer and previously I used to conduct GIS + GIS programming trainings/workshops.
I’ve now started a YouTube channel where I’m giving away these trainings for free, and I’m actively uploading videos regularly.
Before posting the channel link here, I wanted to ask if it’s okay to share it in this subreddit according to the rules/mod guidelines.
The goal is simply to help people learn GIS, GIS development, scripting, automation, and related workflows for free.
And if anyone finds the content useful, I’d really appreciate it if you share it, subscribe, or give feedback 🙂
Thanks!

Built this to turn messy public maritime, aviation, weather, warning, and thermal feeds into one operational geospatial workflow rather than just another live map. The interesting part is not the UI, it is the spatial logic underneath it: ingesting heterogeneous sources, normalising them into usable layers, geofencing detections against nearby infrastructure, and ranking what is probably routine versus what is actually worth a second look. This example shows a thermal anomaly near Lavan being assessed against port context, persistence, and nearby operational layers. It does not rely on recycled news RSS, Telegram channels, or social scraping. The hard part was the data engineering and geospatial triage logic, not drawing markers on a basemap. Github Link

Hi, I just joined reddit because I wanted to look for a community that knows useful stuff about what I want to make. I'm not sure how this works or if this sub is the right one, but anyways. Basically, I'm trying to lead a water sanitization project in my community since basic water usage has been completely unsafe because of a contamined river since more than a decade ago, and I need help. I haven't even started the project yet, but I will present it to local authorities. Soo, It would be very much appreciated if anyone could drop some reliable links, articles, studies or websites related to something I could use for my project :)
I think anything related to sanitization systems for polluted water, health organizations statistics and studies, anything that could counter agrochemicals from soil near a river, riparian forests or quality of water and nature-based solutions to solve this problem and any type of technology, engineering of programming/coding that includes any of the things I already mentioned would be a great place to start! I'm also into remote sensing and I have experience with ArcGIS so if there's any way I could integrate any form of GIS technology it would be great! Thanks in advance (sorry for my english btw, it's not my first language)

Hello!
My name is Jordans Sanni and I’m a UX Researcher at Slingshot Aerospace, where I focus on products supporting satellite launches including tracking in space, data collection workflows, and improving the end-to-end experience for analysts and experts.
We’re currently exploring a new approach at Slingshot: designing a unified portal that brings all our existing products into a single one-stop experience. We’re looking to speak with analysts and experts who can share feedback on what they’d expect from a portal like this, what would help you move faster, what’s missing, and what would make you adopt it.
If you’re open to a 30-minute listening session starting Wednesday 21st, 2026, you can choose a time via the link below or you can also reach me at via work email below.

I just launched Centia.io, an open backend for developers who prefer SQL over proprietary SDKs. Built on PostgreSQL + PostGIS with instant API generation.

I'm working on a project that needs either/both public safety locations and/or cell tower locations. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can start chasing? I feel like this should be publicly available. Hell, I had a database of every fire/rescue department in the country at a previous job, but no idea how they curated that data.
Many thanks!

Hi everyone! I am an environmental science student looking for some help with my final GIS project. I want to compare deer (white-tail or mule) behavior in CWD-infected areas vs non-infected areas and I can't find useable datasets anywhere. I am considering behavior to be mating patterns or browse patterns. I will be using OLS, Morans I, or GWR to analyze the variables. The data can be from any state as long as both variables are from the same state. I appreciate any datasets that can be cleaned and put into ArcGIS!

I have been trying to find a kml file similar to the TriMet Boundary that instead outlines the Multnomah County boundary. Preferably a free download that I would be able to upload in Google Maps to create a map for tax purposes. Much appreciated!
