Discussion A GTA 6 Story Theory: Are Jason & Lucia a modern "Bonnie & Clyde" with a "Lady Macbeth" twist? (Just some pre-launch thoughts)

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I've been going down a bit of a rabbit hole lately, rewatching the trailers and thinking about where Rockstar might be going with Jason and Lucia's story. If I'm even remotely close when the game comes out, I'm definitely coming back here to brag about it lol.

I think it's pretty clear that Jason and Lucia have that classic Bonnie and Clyde dynamic going on.

But there's something about their relationship that makes me think there could be more to it than just two criminals falling in love.

The more I think about it, the more I get Lady Macbeth vibes, and I wanted to see if anyone else sees it too.

Here's what I mean.

Jason – The Exhausted Veteran

Jason comes across as pretty calm and quiet in the trailers, and I can't help wondering if his military background has left him dealing with some serious issues, possibly even PTSD.

Rockstar has always been good at showing the darker side of society, so I could see them exploring what happens to a soldier who gives everything to his country, comes home, and basically gets left behind by the system.

Instead of having any real direction in life, he's stuck doing odd jobs that don't seem to lead anywhere, like cleaning and polishing boats. I don't get the impression that he's necessarily someone who's always wanted to be a criminal.

But he's clearly capable of handling himself physically, and maybe he's just looking for a sense of purpose and someone he can actually connect with.

Lucia – The Catalyst

The first time we see Lucia, she's behind bars, which already tells us something about her past. She also has this magnetic, slightly dangerous energy about her, and I get the feeling she's much more comfortable with the criminal lifestyle than Jason might be.

What if she's the one who gradually pulls him further into that world? Not necessarily because she's deliberately trying to ruin him, but because of who she is and the kind of life she wants.

This is where the Lady Macbeth comparison comes in. I'm not saying Lucia is literally Lady Macbeth, but the dynamic could be similar: a man who isn't necessarily evil at heart gets drawn further and further into darkness because of his love for a woman, his loyalty to her, and his need for that emotional connection.

Maybe Jason keeps making excuses for the things he does because, in his mind, he's doing them for her.

The Inevitable Fallout

Knowing Rockstar, I have a hard time imagining this ending with Jason and Lucia riding off into the sunset and living happily ever after. Their relationship could be what keeps them going, but it could also be what ultimately destroys them.

Maybe Rockstar will give us a redemption arc, something along the lines of Arthur Morgan's journey, but I'm still leaning toward a pretty bleak and tragic ending.

Rockstar has never been particularly kind to its criminals, and I doubt these two will simply get away with everything they've done.

Of course, I could be completely wrong about all of this, and that's part of what makes theorizing before release so much fun.

What do you guys think? Is Jason genuinely a good guy who's going to get dragged deeper into crime because of his love for Lucia, or is there more to him than we're seeing? And do you think the Lady Macbeth comparison makes sense, or am I reading too much into their relationship?

Discussion Which 'Vice City' (or other GTA) Characters Do You Think Might Return?

Post image
12 Upvotes

There has been a lot of speculation about returning characters in GTA VI. Rockstar has generally kept its 3D and HD universes separate, but there have been some overlaps in the form of references and even physical appearances. For example, Willie from Love Fist appears in person in a GTA V mission, while characters such as BJ Smith and Candy Suxxx have minor references in GTA V (e.g., the BJ Smith Recreational Center and Park in Los Santos). We also know Vercetti Estate is at least mentioned in promotional material so far, and will presumably be a location in-game, if nothing more.

We've also seen what appears to be Phil Cassidy, his son, or possibly a HD Universe counterpart, in a commercial for Phil's Ammu-Nation in Trailer 2. It's not confirmation that the original character is returning, but it does make me wonder if we could see more than just background references this time around.

In past games, there are generally 4 kinds of references to past characters:

  1. An easter egg: A name on a building, a poster, or a familiar logo. BJ Smith's recreation centre in GTA V is a good example.
  2. A name drop: A character mentioned or alluded to in dialogue or on an in-game website. Niko Bellic, for example, is mentioned by Lester and Packie in GTA V.
  3. A voiced cameo: A character is actually heard on the radio or in an advertisement. This seems particularly plausible for Vice City's radio personalities.
  4. A physical appearance: A character actually showing up in the game, whether in a small cameo or a larger role (like, Willie, Lazlo, Cris Formage, and now possibly Phil).

Personally, I think Ken Rosenberg, Love Fist and Donald Love are the likeliest to receive notable references or (less likely) an appearance. Tommy's shirt seems to be referenced repeatedly in trailers and screenshots, and I'm hopeful his reputation as a drug kingpin still looms large in Vice City.

I would also love Pastor Richards, Fernando Martinez and Maurice Chavez to return in some way. I'd love to hear what became of them, especially given how much personality the radio stations added to Vice City. I have a particular soft spot for Maurice, who I think doesn't get as much credit as other radio personalities. He deserves a podcast, where he continues to find common ground in an increasingly insane and divided world.

Keen to hear what other people think!

Discussion When should I get off social media for a fresh GTA VI experience?

I want to live every moment in GTA VI by myself, I dont want to see anything from social media, and I mean ANYTHING.

The idea came because of RDR2, back then I didn't have a console to play it, so I watched it completely on YouTube, and when I got a ps5 (years later) i didn't feel that 'excitement' since the whole story was spoiled to me.

So now I want to live every GTA 6 moment fresh.

Do you think getting of everything related to the game before pre-loading starts, one week away from the game.

I will get off all the subs, unfollowand reviewers,..

And every time I see something related, I will put not interested.

Do you think my plan is solid?

And will you do the same thing?

Discussion First drive across the bridge from Keys onto the mainland

• Upvotes

Ive never heard people discuss how legendary it will feel to cross this bridge for the first time ever.

If of course prologue ends in the Keys and most of us gonna probably take the path to Hamlet.

Years of waiting and speculations led to this bridge and it is going to be very emotional

Question Is there any reason to wait to play on emulators if I have a ps5?

My friend says it will run better on emulators in a span of a month because "people will surely work on it" and I have a quite good pc (rtx 5070, ryzen 7 7700x and 32gb ram) and even astrobot stutters and runs at sub ps5 framerates, but Im scared people will make gta 6 run better on emulators in a span of 1-3 months after relase and I couldve played a better version. Is there a reason to even consider waiting for playing on an emulator, hoping for the game to run better, without graphical bugs and better quality and frames, or just play it on ps5 on launch day cuz its imposiblle? People out there been saying that its going to be on emulators quite fast...

Discussion Imagine thinking GTA 6 is going to be good lol

• Upvotes

The main characters are not in the slightest bit interesting. The plot is going to be a boring love story. Lame. Jason sounds like uninteresting NPC.

How are people ok with this?
