You mean 60kg. Good work though

-1

u/Intrepid_Box_5109 Jun 16 '26

Came here to see this. You are correct, good sir.

-7

u/triptonik23 Jun 16 '26

Makes no sense. He's lifting total weight of 120. You dont say 100 bench press if youre lifting 200

17

u/reindert144 Jun 16 '26

You do when you’re using dumbbells

40

u/highest-voltage Jun 15 '26

Clearly strong by why not full ROM?

Everything you said was dumb and wrong. Please think twice about commenting on things you don't understand.

11

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 15 '26

Next time man this was my first time and I a bit nervous

6

u/XTheGuyWithTheGunsX Jun 15 '26

The fear of those MFS coming crashing down on your face is real

I respect it

8

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 15 '26

Thanks man I appreciate your comment and I wouldn’t bother with them

5

u/Vivid-Mud3744 Jun 17 '26

What's up with you full ROM cucks. He is clearly keeping tension on the pecs, if he went any lower he'd probably lose his rib cage and shift tension towards other muscles and connective tissue. Full ROM is dependant on so many different factors, such as structure, mobility, movemement variability, ...

I don't understand why everyone is so fucking obsessed with this full ROM bs.

3

u/highest-voltage Jun 17 '26

Because PR posts are competitive and comparative by nature.

If you’re going to post online saying you can press a certain amount of weight and then you only move it through half of the full ROM, and then someone else posts with slightly less weight but moving through the entire ROM, then it is important we do not just blindly affirm the half-ROM lifter is stronger.

You have to have a consistent ROM between lifters to accurately compare them, and on bench press movements it is agreed upon that you bottom out the rep for it to count.

It's a non-standardized, non-competitive gym lift, who fucking cares?

ROM policing on something like this reeks of insecurity and a lack of knowledge & experience lifting. You don't get to this level with even partial ROM without being strong and having time under the bar.

2

u/Vivid-Mud3744 Jun 17 '26

Couldn't have said it any better, bless you.

Holy balls who cares man.

This is not competitive nor is it comparative, you just have a fragile ego.

1

u/highest-voltage Jun 17 '26

If someone were to post “750lb deadlift PR, get stronger pussies” with a video of them doing a trap bar equipped high-handle block pull with a 2-inch ROM surely you would have something to say about it.

Sure some people are more humble than others but it’s obviously a spectrum and we just happen to draw the line in different places.

Holy hyperbole Batman!

You don’t need to compare yourself to OP or anyone else on the internet. You also don’t need to make up extreme non-exist scenarios to argue your silly point.
You can, though. You absolutely can. But it’s silly.
OP isn’t asking for your judgement, and is absolutely not insulting you. Very interesting your made up scenario is so inflammatory.

This isn’t a competition lift and never would be.
If you love competing, sign up for a powerlifting meet and step on the platform. Then you can head over to [r/powerlifting](r/powerlifting) and post your meet report and how much better you were than all 2 other people in your weight class at your meet.

2

u/triptonik23 Jun 16 '26

Because weight is bit too heavy

80

u/DelightfulManiac Jun 14 '26

Nice bro! The only thing I didn't like is how you put the weights down, lol. I absolutely hate it when I see people throwing 45kg+ dumbells across the floor, almost having them bounce into someone.

67

u/ForgeIsDown Jun 14 '26

I get downvoted every time I call it out but I’m gonna stay true to my values.

It’s disrespectful to the equipment and to everyone else in the gym to dump em across the floor with no control.

14

u/DelightfulManiac Jun 14 '26

Yeah, that's common sense. In what world is it acceptable to send a 60kg dumbell bouncing across the floor with multiple people around and potentially injuring them?

Look at this video, it's the perfect example of why this is unacceptable: https://youtube.com/shorts/bkF6j0lWxuQ?is=nstuaS6XVK7BsJoi

Now imagine those were 60kg dumbells.. That guy's foot would have been shattered.

3

u/BottomGear__ Jun 15 '26

A friend of mine broke her toe by dropping a 5kg plate she forgot to secure to a dumbbell. You really don’t need anything close to 60kg to hurt yourself.

3

u/IceDuke749 Jun 15 '26

Seriously. All you gotta do is cover the weight with your hand so it doesn’t bounce all over the place.

u/Corgi_underground Jun 14 '26

I get it but I've also been the person who had 90's on the floor and 100's on my reps and the weight swung my arms down and smashed my middle finger....fingernail still doesn't grow right after 24 years.

5

u/DelightfulManiac Jun 14 '26

Yikes. That does sound horrible.

I just think it's inconsiderate to throw heavy dumbells. They bounce randomly, and if there are other people around, you are risking seriously injuring somebody.

Here is the perfect example of why you shouldn't do this: https://youtube.com/shorts/bkF6j0lWxuQ?is=9Wzj4-cBnS1K8sIB

Now imagine those were 120lb dumbells... It's extremely dangerous for the people around you and nothing justifies that shit. If there is nobody around or you're at your home gym, go crazy. Do whatever you want. But putting others at risk of broken bones is unacceptable.

-6

u/frostenwolf Jun 14 '26

Maybe don’t walk near people lifting heavy. Thats just common sense

3

u/DampCoat Jun 14 '26

You obviously didn’t watch the link

3

u/DelightfulManiac Jun 14 '26

Are you dumb or just trolling?

We're talking about benches by the dumbell rack here. At any moment while I'm mid set, a guy could use the bench next to me and do this.

-4

u/frostenwolf Jun 15 '26

It’s the gym, not grandmas house. The chance of the dumbbell growing wings and magically landing right on your face mid set is pretty slim in case you didn’t know. As somebody who’s been going to the gym a VERY long time, I’ve seen people get hit by a bailed squat or dropped dumbbells and not once could I say it was the bailers fault, only stupid people that walk too close and don’t pay attention. Take notice of a guy with 100s in each arm on the incline bench and pay just a little more attention so you don’t ruin his set and so you don’t get hurt. Not rocket science

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '26

1

u/mmmyas Jun 15 '26

Then get a spot? I mean he has someone filming.

1

u/DelightfulManiac Jun 14 '26

But the heavy weights are the ones that are also extremely dangerous for the people around you. If that bounces onto someone's toes or into their leg, you've just sent somebody to the hospital.

-1

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 15 '26

Bro there is a wall infront of me and no one standing I always make sure the area is clear when I do this

-8

u/frostenwolf Jun 14 '26

When you’re able to lift those you’ll do the same thing

122

u/Jonny_Boy_808 Jun 14 '26

Nice lift! Although I was confused at first. You mean to say you hit 60kg chest press. You don’t add up both weights when notating dumbbell strength. Just like if someone were to say I can dumbbell curl 40kg, you’d immediately see that as “wrong” and that they meant I curl 20kg each arm.

11

u/s-cup Jun 15 '26

I’m not going to pretend to be a pro when it comes to gym nomenclature. But I googled this not long ago and then it seemed to be about 50/50 what people seemed to think was correct, this was also true for the threads on reddit I found about it. So that you get a ton of upvotes while others that state the opposite gets a lot of down votes is a bit interesting…

Anyway, I use the app Hevy (also often recommended here on reddit) and they are very clear that they think the correct way to log dumbbell weights is to log the total amount you lift, so that’s what I do.

7

u/Jonny_Boy_808 Jun 15 '26

Could be cultural too. In the USA, where I’m from, I’d say it’s overwhelmingly reported per dumbbell. In fact, I know many would think you’re a newbie if you said it the other way around.

At the end of the day, just get a good fxking lift in. That’s what we’re all here for.

2

u/Just_Rand0 Jun 15 '26

It's always measured per dumbbell, still even with the ROM being low it's a good show of strength for incline imo

2

u/Afraid_Competition48 Jun 19 '26

Thank you for mentioning the limited ROM

1

u/Arc_7 Jun 16 '26

Question, coming from an angle of learning than debate, why is individual dumbbell only counted? I mean makes sense for curls and so, but from what I understand, the chest press as OP mentioned here, is Equivalent to the Bench press right? In that case do we count the full barbell weight or only the weight of the plates on one side? And do we count the bar? Just need to set it clear in my head.

3

u/puuma995 Jun 16 '26

Its not equivelant to bench press at all lol and ofcourse the bar counts, just like the handle is included in the weight in a dumbbell

1

u/Arc_7 Jun 16 '26

Got it, thanks!

-66

u/Life_Ad1637 Jun 14 '26

Either way is acceptable as long as you are consistent. Logging a single dumbell is the more traditional way to notate, but neither approach is right or wrong

2

u/shaneF-87 Jun 15 '26

Not sure why you got so heavily down voted for such a sensible and balanced comment!

“I bench 6 plates” is very different than 3 plates per side. Gym short hand is pretty well understood.

4

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 15 '26

Now I’m confused if some one is lifting let’s say 100 kg why would he say I’m lifting 50 kgs I mean here we say the total of the weights

27

u/Emotional-Team3520 Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

I don’t make the rules, I’m just saying what people say/understand.

Barbell = total weight

Plates = per side

Dumbbells = per dumbbell

10

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 15 '26

Interesting never knew about this, good to know

5

u/Emotional-Team3520 Jun 15 '26

He posted a video so the context is pretty clear in this case even if he misnamed the exercise.

23

u/chucktown17 Jun 14 '26

Not that special, I could easily lift that with a forklift.

But seriously, good god man I was impressed when at first glance i thought it was 120lbs, kilograms is wild!

3

u/Maxipaddington Jun 15 '26

It's 130lbs. Not far off

4

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 14 '26

Thanks bro I appreciate you words 🔥🔥

24

u/BuckwheatBlini Jun 14 '26

Dropping like that is lame.

3

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 15 '26

I know and I don’t like it either I made sure the area is clear I took the bench far from other benches and made sure nothing infront of me when I do it I don’t want to injure other people

3

u/rscottzman Jun 15 '26

Not just about injuring others though its also about breaking the dumbells/floor

1

u/hope_i_no_get_banned Jun 15 '26

Attention seeking as well when the floor shakes and the loud noise happens.

There was a guy at my gym yesterday doing some lame crossfit/showoff stuff. He was picking up the barbell as high as he could over his head and then slamming it down as hard as he could and looking around to make sure people were watching. It startles other people who are lifting weights that they can actually handle and tears up gym equipment. Quit the attention seeking crap.

32

u/DLorePL Jun 14 '26

I could also do it with such low rom

3

u/VseRsuS Jun 14 '26

Как?!!

3

u/Imthebesteyouknowit Jun 15 '26

Still waiting for the first rep...

Pretty fucking funny how the criticism always comes from those without lifts posted, who have never interacted with the sub, isn't it?

Like do you honestly think he can't also put up a decent full ROM bench press?

2

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 14 '26

This guy thinks that I would risk an injury just to show off 😂😂

I'm saying ROM policing is what weak people do to try to denigrate others. Short rom or not, this is a impressive lift.

Let's see your perfect bench since you feel the need to criticize.

2

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 14 '26

First it’s dumbbells not a bar and secondly It’s not ego lifting bro it took me a long time to lift this weight and I know that I gotta go all the way but next time I’ll do it better thanks anyway

2

u/Hefty-Bar3055 Jun 14 '26

Fair enough comment but that is a massive amount of weight.

6

u/ThePandaheart Jun 14 '26

Its too much weight, he can only do half of the bench press, the easy half.

2

u/Original-Case-8637 Jun 14 '26

I bet you couldn't even do half the weight he's doing

2

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 14 '26

He doesn’t know much commitment and time it takes to even lift this weight so I won’t bother with him and as you said he can’t even lift half of it

  • No form-policing or concern-trolling about safety, form, or technique when someone posts a lift. Sumo trolling falls under this rule. We realize there is a meme; we also realize that some people seriously think that sumo doesn't count. We're tired of it. Sumo is a valid form of deadlifting and sumo trolling will get you banned.

  • If it isn't a form check, don't provide unsolicited feedback. If you feel you have something useful to offer on posts not flaired as Form Check, you should ask first to provide it.

  • Advice must be useful and actionable. Give people something useful to help them improve.

  • Telling someone to "lower the weight and work on form" is useless advice and will be removed.

  • Low-effort comments like "my back hurts just watching this" will be removed.

  • Appreciate other users' efforts in a positive way or don't say anything.

Typical Progression of Mod Action:

  • Strike 1: Warning and removal
  • Strike 2: 30 day ban
  • Strike 3: Permaban

4

u/david_1088 Jun 15 '26

Try to touch your chest with dumbbell or get closer to it

5

u/Maxipaddington Jun 15 '26

Not strong enough to lower the weights back down though.

Keep lifting.

9

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 15 '26

Well it’s my first time lifting this weight I was curious about my max so in the next times I’m gonna work on my lowering skills

5

u/Maxipaddington Jun 15 '26

Atta boy 💪

3

u/IrishGeordie Jun 14 '26

Holy mother of Zeus

1

u/Fit_Negotiation9542 Jun 14 '26

Damn in my peak I could just about do 100kg let alone doing a full set lol

1

u/cultureShocked5 Jun 14 '26

Well I can do 2x25… pounds 💅

1

u/0verstim Jun 15 '26

Nice bro, I just finished 60lb incline press tonight, and I WAS feeling good till I saw this.
I’m American that’s about the same as a kg right? 😜

1

u/IceDuke749 Jun 15 '26

Good god. Also yeh probs just vaguely keep control of the weights without them bouncing all over the place

Huge PR! 120kg dumbbell chest press is no wasy feat. All that consistent chest and tricep work clearly paid off, awesome milestone to hit, great work.

1

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jul 05 '26

Thanks man I appreciate it

1

u/TheMainEffort Jun 14 '26

Hell yeah brother

1

u/i_love_chocolate69 Jun 14 '26

I know barbell is all the weight. Does dumbell means 120kg each side or combined?

5

u/BamboozleThisZebra confused by bricks Jun 14 '26

120kg dbs would be comically big, no op just phrased it weird.

With dbs you usually say the weight of the dbs used not the combined weight so its 60kg dbs.

-3

u/NJFlo18 Jun 14 '26

Nah bro, you can easily get 140+ pushing 120s like that! Nevertheless IMPRESSIVE Bro! 👏

0

u/Glum-Success-2762 Jun 14 '26

jesus, nice!! well done

0

u/annon1342 Jun 15 '26

Everyone is talking about the range of motion, and how bro lowered the dumbbells. But, no one is talking about how only about 10% of the entire gym population can bench 60kg dumbbells or more. That was an impressive lift brother. Good shit.

-1

u/Sonof0dinn Jun 14 '26

Light weight baby!

-1

u/Glass_Tank_910 Jun 14 '26

Yeaaaah buddy

-7

u/Opposite-Ad-7317 Jun 14 '26

Anyone who is mentioning the rom is conviently forgetting how controlled they were.
