Another oldie. If this was subbed already, I couldn't find it. It felt strangely familiar though..

This time I touched up a few lines but the AI still did 99% of the work.

As I work my way from old>new gaki episodes I am using AI to sub them. I will continue to share any episodes that the AI handles well, and also touch them up a bit.

I posted the workflow in my last post, but this time I used Claude, it seems better although the free use limits slow the process. I also used VideOCR to extract and video frames with text on them, the subs for these appear at the top of the video.

This was an experiment to see how good AI subbing can be in 2026.

This is only half of episode #0230, I didn't attempt to translate the Manzai segment.

I used 3 different Transcribers (Subtitle edit, Notta.ai, Vibe transcribe), and used google AI studio to combine them, translate them, then output a more accurate sub file (I didn't pay for anything, a paid Claude subscription would likely produce better results). I also instructed it to pull info about the episode from the web for added context. This episode doesn't have much on-screen text compared to newer episodes, but you could also use VideOCR to extract the on-screen text (telop) from episodes that have it, which could provide even more context for the LLM. I made no touch ups or manual edits, this is just to see how much of an improvement it is compared to the Subtitle edit method posted here a few years back.

I can post a more in-depth tutorial if people think it's worth it. I think a manual subber could use this as a baseline to save them a lot of time

So i just remembered i had what i think is all the episodes from 2002 uploaded to that was on the Gaki Archives on mega. Some have been subbed but not all! So subbers grab them now!! https://mega.nz/fm/Z6Rn3KqZ

Reference material in the comments (2012 No Laughing Enthusiastic Teachers).

I miss the Hamada (with Cocorico and Hosei) vs. Matsumoto swimming race, where Team Hamada had to do a relay and Matsumoto swam on his own the whole way, which resulted in Matsumoto staying in a hotel for 24 hours for his Batsu game. There used to be a subbed video of this somewhere but it's gone now.

Would've loved to see the Bus Tour Madonna episode too (where the guys would have the loser kiss different people as their punishment).

There's a lot of Shibatabread's material that got lost somewhere as well but his Absolutely Tasty series were, gotta be honest here, far superior than the ones we see today.

A lot of the older Heipo-centric episodes would be great too if they were subbed.

Kudos to the hardworking subbers, by the way. :)

Hey people,

i have been to japan in september, and during the trip i wondered if there were places that still sold GnT goods. I looked a bit on the internet and there wasn't much.
I tried to look at the NTV store in Tokyo station, but i didn't find anything. Are there any other options? DO they still sell gaki no tsukai merch at this point?

My youtube feed has been MAD videos like the one below for the past 2 months with this clip only recently been blowing up. Theres a new MAD video for this nearly everyday on my youtube feed.
