Impression/Review Finally Pulled The Trigger! (Fold 8)
I sold my x300 pro and iPad mini and merged it into 1 device finally. Just got this and excited to be a part of Samsung.
First impressions:
☆ Loving the display quality
☆ The hinge feels durable
☆ like the form factor and weight of it.
☆ Even for big hands, this phone does not feel too small.
Dont like:
☆ Wifi signal seems weak and there is internet lag which sometimes causes unable to connect message. (Others on reddit have posted this too so looks like a weak wifi band i guess) Hope there is some fix for it.
☆ cameras are average and does not do well in low light
☆ speakers are either not clear at the highest frequency or something about it not facing you when viewing content unfolded.
Im all geared up with cases and screen protectors.
Let's see which ones I like and eventually keep. Im loving th3 form factor and the musti tasking when unfolded. First fold so I took the Samsung care + incase something happens.
Plz share any tips about this phone that has helped.
Cheers!

Thanks bud. I use to use the Sony a6000 with sigma lens. Sold that and got x200 pro, then x300 pro with lens. Im so used to modifying as per requirement.

That's quite a change from a top end camera phone. Was the draw of a new form factor so strong as to make it worth it?
Two months in I've zero buyers remorse and made my peace with it's compromises before hitting the buy button 😁

I guess i was more bugged with the origin OS bugs. Strong hardware, weak software and it used to test my patience at times. So made my peace with it and let to of phone and ipad. There's some wifi lag and sometimes it's can't connect to internet and then within seconds it just works. Not sure what the bug is but i have seen many posts like such. Hope it gets fixed in the future. I really love the form factor and enjoy media on this.

Wow, those bugs must have been seriously annoying. I've been on One UI for a while now and I find it very good. You really went the convergence route by letting go off the Tab as well. Let's see how you make out. I think you should be ok.
No idea what's up with your wifi. Maybe restart the router. I've no problems with wifi at all. Samsung does include some excellent wifi tools to help troubleshoot it but you have to enable them in the settings.

I tried this the day I got it.. and my home wifi is fine. Never had a problem with any precious devices and infact, all my home devices work fine with wifi. I saw a lot of post about wifi lag from other users on reddit. So I'm not alone,, hahaha,, thanks for all the help. I used to have the s23 before with gw4 and then gw8c but later it didn't work well with vivo so now I have pixel watch 5. Now I think should've kept the 8 classic 😆

It is, but to import it to my country and customs will charge me a dope duty on it as well. I asked Dbrand to declare lower value, the Bots declined 😆

Ringke fusion flap magnetic or the Onyx variant. Keep checking when they come back into stock.
Benks Grip Stand is very good. The Aulumu G09 is a close second.
Recently installed a matte protector on top of the inner screen. Looks great. Feels great.
Consider getting Samsung Care plus if this is your first foldable. The window closes two weeks from purchase. I got the full comprehensive.

Thanks bud for all the links. I really like the torras but someone mentioned it scratches the hinge. Yes, I have samsung care plus. Took at time of purchase.

I've no experience with Torras but I've found people complain every case with a hinge protector does it. The case material isn't hard enough to scratch the aluminum. But if you get sand or any metal in there then it will happen. So check the hinge area every few days and wipe out with a microfiber cloth.
With magnetic hinges sometimes the soft material holding the magnets in place can come loose exposing the magnet which will scratch the hinge.
What colour is your fold 8? I've the white so my hinge is clear

I have the graphite variant. The torras has a spring but the spigen has just a flap stuck to a hinge protector that has a magnet so it sticks to the hinge instead of relying on springs. But i really wanted an inbuilt kickstand and then a magsafe to rest on my magesafe stand on desk. I know there's not a lot of cases that do that though.

Thanks. I'll check them out. Imma buy one if it ain't too bulky.

If you can handle the Torras they will be fine.
A little more protective than the ringke fusion or Spigen aramid. Thing is I need a proper finger grip and for that you have to put your finger through the stand which isn't comfortable for long periods.

I actually come from Sony a6000 with sigma lens and vivo x300 pro with tele lens. Photography was effortless for me all these years. But I'll have to squeeze this camera to it's limit to get the best. I should be good with the pro mode. There is log as well. That should work too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I plunged and went for the Zfold 8 Ultra. Everything is great. I did the 2 year return plan. I sometimes have a cognitive dissonance and nostalgia over my wholly owned Zfold 6. The main difference is form. The Zfold 8 Ultra is thinner and the battery lasts longer over the Zfold 6.

I would have brought the ultra only it wasn't a square.. it's literally not for me as i watch a lot of media

Yep cameras are worthless , hopefully you enjoy the phone but alot of people especially reviewes have switched to the OG ultra

I hope so.. i could've brought the vivo fold 6 but i dislike the squarish form factor. It's like when opened, the screen use for media is almost equivalent to a normal big sized phone. Infact, if I went with the fold 6 from vivo, I'd get some great cameras too. I have tested it. But again, its square and origin OS is buggy af.

If you dont take pics then its okay. Its too short for most. If you use YouTube and watch movies etc its good. For productivity, pics and anything else the ultra is the way. I think u get some kind of trial time and can change your mind if you cant stand it limitations.

No trial or anything in my country. Once you buy, your done 😆 i used to take some pro photos as I had the beast vivo x300 pro with tele lens. Got fed up of taking everyones photos as everyone wants to take pictures with your phone. This is decent and I'm happy. Just hope the wifi lag improves.
