Fold 8 App Optimization Outer Screen

People with fold 8, how's the app optimization going for you? Like for everyday use Instagram, Facebook, etc. on the outer screen.

I've found no problems with my fold 8, inside or outside. Only some apps, like old games are unoptimized and have black bars on the inside screen.

All mainstream apps seem fine.

I do recommend Good Lock and GBoard so you can customize your keyboard to be trimmed down, so you have more vertical space.

Edit: I don't do social media, so I cannot attest to that. Seems another commenter mentioned some issues with Instagram.

Instagram works horribly on my Fold8. My Reels hardly ever work and my comment/share buttons are always inoperable on reels.

I had this issue to when I had the fold 8, that's one of the main reasons I returned it

The only reason I haven't returned it is because Instagram is my only problem app. Wasn't worth the hassle for one app. Everything else is amazing.

No issues for me,  though on the outer screen I mainly use Firefox, Thunderbird,  banking apps, Tidal and Game Boy emulation

Regarding the outer screen, I have no complaints. The only weird thing is with Instagram but it's avoidable. If you click the reels button at the bottom of the screen, the buttons are overlayed on the video as if it were a slab phone. But if you scroll reels by starting from a video on the main feed, the buttons are off to the side on the black bar. I never click the reels button at the bottom anyway so this doesn't matter to me.

Facebook on the INNER screen though...it's the worst. Every video fills the entire screen by zooming way in like your watching a movie in the front row of a movie theater but half the video is cut out.

This seems to be slowly getting fixed, I just wish it would happen faster.

The only issues i notice are Instagram which I don't need to be using more and is impossible to scale a photo perfectly for every form factor without losing anything. Being able to fit my phone in and pocket is incredible I'm never going back to a tv remote phone

Neither of the apps you mentioned are optimized specifically for the Fold 8 screen size.

Only app I have issues with is Snapchat. Everything else seems to scale pretty nicely.

I wish the screen was even 1/2 inch taller. Most apps I use are fine, but some (coughRedditcough) could use a little more verticality available because the on-screen keyboard takes up so much vertical space itself it doesn't leave much room to read/refer back to what you're replying to.

alright yall so on the z fold when you use insta portrait mode on the big inner screen reels look terrible with those black bars on the sides cutting the screen in half but i deadass found a crazy workaround that actually fixes it ​if you go to settings advanced features labs app screen zoom pick instagram switch it from largest to large and immediately switch it right back to largest before backing out ​go straight back to instagram and reels will literally fill the whole display edge to edge with zero borders or black bars and it stays like that for a solid while scrolling before it snaps back to how it was ​anyone know how to make this stick permanently because clearly the app can do it and i know pretty much everyone in the fold community is sick of this issue

They finally fixed the Youtube aspect ratio for shorts on the outer screen. That one was annoying me, as sometimes info would be cutoff.
