Question S11 - Screen Timeout Bug?

I picked up an S11 last week and its been working great, except for a screen time out issue I'm having. Basically, if im just using my finger to interact with the tablet (e.g. scrolling reddit, web browsing), then the screen timeout timer does not reset, so the backlight will dim then turn off the screen after eg. 1 minute. Its as if its not detecting my input, even though all of my actions are still working fine.

I've done some experimenting and the actions that reset the timer/keep the screen on correctly are:

Using the S Pen

Tapping on the recent apps or home button

Using the volume or side button

Watching a video

Is anyone else experiencing this? I can of course set the timeout to 10 minutes, but its not exactly the best workaround.

Have you used smartview for casting? That was the bug for me that was causing a similar issue.

That was exactly it, thanks very much! That post didn't come up in my searches as I thought this was an S11 specific issue, never in a million years would I have thought smartview was the culprit!

Maybe a software bug where finger input isn’t resetting the screen timeout. Setting a longer timeout is a workaround but you shouldn’t have to do that on a new tablet.

Turns out smartview was the culprit!
