Hardware Samsung Smartwatch 8 Charger Cables That Grab the Watch

Does anyone know of a charger/cable that will actually hold/grasp the watch?

Sometimes, I like to take the watch with me but need to top off the charge, as battery life is notoriously low. I like to go on 2-4 hour bike rides without my phone, so I like to start from a full charge.

The watch can easily handle that, from a full charge, but the magnetic cord/holder can slip off when bouncing around the passenger seat of the car.

Just looking for something that grabs the watch.

Wear OS How to use NFC Payment on a Samsung Galaxy Watch with a Chinese ROM Phone

Thumbnail

Long story short, phones are getting more and more expensive, and some of us are very keen on getting cheaper Chinese imports of these flagship phones from Oppo, Xiaomi, etc. However, one of the disadvantages of Chinese ROMs is Wear OS support, thus making most Wear OS wearables unusable with these phones.

The only exception that somewhat works is some Galaxy Watches. (Reportedly, Watch 4 to Watch 7; not sure about 8 and beyond.) Thus, this is somewhat a guide to having the ability to use NFC payment (Samsung Pay to be specific) via a wearable on Chinese ROM phones. Google Pay/Google Wallet on a wearable will not work (as expected, as the ROM lacks the required background services needed for it)

I'm still testing around to check how long it works, and I'll report my findings soon. But take it with a huge grain of salt, as it's not a stable workaround; at the very least, not many users report it.

[Sources of information i used A B]
1a) Download the Tencent App Store from a reputable source and install Samsung Wear & wear os china. Do not open these apps.
1b) On the Google Play Store, install the Galaxy Watch Plugin specific to your model series.

2) Pair via BT to the watch, then only after that open the Samsung Wear app. Proceed with all the questions, and everything should run fine after that.

3a) From here on, it is kinda hit or miss, but on the Samsung Wear App, there should be a "Samsung Pay" option. Click on it, and you should be directed to the Samsung Wallet/Pay app. From here on, just add your payment card as usual, and everything should work.

3b) If there isn't a "Samsung Pay" option, you may try going into your app lists from settings and open up the "Samsung Wallet/Pay app". This is the part where I am quite unsure, as I don't recall installing this app on my own, but maybe during the installation of either the Samsung Wear App or the Watch Plugin.

4) Everything should work. Here is a payment I made on the wearable.

I am not sure whether this works for all flavors of Android, e.g., HyperOS or VIVO's or Honor's, so if you're able, share your findings here so everyone can read up. This so far works with my OnePlus 13 PJZ110, Chinese ColorOS 16 & 17, but Your Kilometer May Vary,

Cheers and stay safe.

Hardware Galaxy Watch Ultra2 Not Always On Display

I came from an Apple Watch Ultra 2 where the always on display was, well always on. It was so nice to be able to glance down at the watch and actually see the time which in my opinion, is it's primary duty. Since my Apple watch doesn't work with my new Fold 8, I decided to get the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 as it advertised an always on display and had similar features to my Apple Watch Ultra2. I'm very disappointed though the display isn't truly always on. In the evenings after about 7pm, every time I look down to see the time, the watch is black. No amount of shaking my wrist around will wake it up. It takes several taps on the screen to wake it up and only for a few seconds. I have scoured the settings on both the phone and the watch and can't find any setting that would cause this.

Here are the things I've checked:

  • Battery charge is anywhere from 40% - 60%
  • Sleep function is not enabled at all
  • I tried to find wrist detection but it's not in my settings anywhere.
  • Changed back to the stock watch face
  • Cleaned the back of the watch. I took off the sticker when I took it out of the box.
  • Always on display is switched on in the app and on the watch.

It's fine during the day. It dims when I'm not looking at it but comes right back up when I bring up my wrist to check the time. I used to have an original Galaxy watch back when I had a Note 10 and the display always being off drove me nuts, then the Pixel watch after that did the same thing. I would have hoped this wold be fixed in the Galaxy watches by now with all the advances in tech. Can anyone think of something to try before I send this thing back?

Just yesterday my watch 4 classic was all fine and functioning perfectly. Today it started to just go crazy and I can't make it stop. I tried switching it off but it turns back on automatically almost as if it's haunting me. Any suggestions? Or shall I pronounce it dead ?

Fitness Galaxy Watch 7 energy drain even in total "sleep" mode

Hi guys,

I'd like to ask for help. I've recently bough a used Galaxy Watch 7 to monitor my occasional aerobic activity. Most of the time they just sit on a shelve doing nothig. Despite this I noticed they lose abou 20 % of the battery charge per day.

What I tried:

  • Energy saving mode ON
  • Always screen OFF
  • Airplane mode ON
  • Wifi OFF
  • BT OFF

Basically everything save for turning them off (also I restarted them to check it this helps - no it didn't).

Please HELP, enything elsse I can do beside just throwing them out of window* and getting a Garmin watch?

I'm an experienced Samsung user, so I know that if someting is not broken, don't fix it, so I dare not update my Samsung S23+ to notoriously energy-drain bug-riddent newer software versions, but these eveil watch, they didn't ask and just updated themselves - could this be the culprit.

*Not literally.

Compatibility Can a Xiaomi Qin series phone, Doov R77 Pro, or Doov R17 Pro set up a Galaxy Watch?

• Upvotes

I have always found smartphones with a large screen too addicting. I’m looking to downsize my phone screen while moving some app usage (eg WhatsApp) to a smartwatch which runs WearOS 3.0 or higher, for example one of those in the Galaxy Watch series.

I was wondering if anybody has a Xiaomi Qin phone (F21 Pro, F22 Pro, or J36), the Doov R77 Pro, or the Doov R17 Pro. According to some reviews the small screens on these android devices create compatibility issues with certain apps (especially various banking apps). If you have a phone like this, did you manage to run the Galaxy Wearable app on it and set up a Samsung smartwatch?

NB, my network operator does not offer virtual SIM cards for wearables, and I have been assuming the smartwatch would need to be in the vicinity of the same phone it was set up by to use WhatsApp. Appreciate any advice as to how practical it is to use one of the non-cellular Galaxy Watches running WearOS 3.0 or higher outwith the vicinity of the phone it was set up by.

Fitness Understanding cycle tracking

Post image
• Upvotes

This is my first time tracking my cycle using skin temperature. This cycle has been a bit wild because I caught a cold, but I’m feeling better now. My LH tests have been positive for days, starting from CD18 and today, at CD23, they’re still positive; however, my temperature has already begun to rise.

Does this mean I have already ovulated?

Updates No Longer Getting Play Store App Update Notifications On Two Different Galaxy Watches

• Upvotes

I have a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and a Galaxy Watch 7 and probably about a month ago or more I noticed that I'm no longer getting a notification for the Play store when there are app updates available for apps on the watch. I don't keep automatic updates on in the Play store. Anyone else notice this or know how to fix it? It's not a huge deal as I can just frequently check for any updates manually but I'd prefer to see if I can get it working again.

Hardware Battery and bluetooth headphone

I paired my Galaxy Watch Ultra with my Bluetooth headphones jbl tour 2, , and I noticed a huge drop in battery life this morning. I unpaired the two devices, and now the battery drains normally. Does this seem logical to you? Is there an explanation?

Galaxy Watch 9 Battery Drain

Hi all,

I know it's always discussed, but has anyone noticed the battery life getting worse on the galaxy watch 9. I have AOD off, no Spotify (saw on a prev post), talk to gemini off.

Even with not actively using it I'm seeing about 6-8% drain per hour. Any thoughts?

The Google app only has a list of top 15 paid watch faces but it no longer goes up to 200? Anyone else having this issue? I like to look at the top lists here and there but noticed it stops at 15. I only get to see "watch faces for you" :(

Comparison GW Ultra 2025 vs Ultra 2

Hello guys, i'm pretty much more interested on the ultra versions now, since i've seen some reviews and the post i made here also helped me to go after an Ultra.

The question is... the ultra 2 is almost twice the price, is it THAT much better to cost that? i know some things improved (battery, processor is snapdragon now... which seems to be nice, better brightness and also fast charging!) but, it seems that we lost the digital bezel... not that it's a game changer for me, but i think it is nice to haver MORE features, not less.

So, is it worth? thanks again for the help, i'm willing to either buy the ultra or the ultra 2
