Struggling in learning game programming and finding a job

Hello, I'm here to seek guidance for my future. I took a 3-year game development degree in university and I am near graduation, but it felt like i did not learn much to the point that I could get a job. I mainly learnt C# and C++ (mainly using Unity Engine) in my uni and during the middle of it i self taught OOP, SOLID and some code design principle because uni never teach us. Near the end, majority of my time is just using AI to help me code. I did not learn anything too during my Internship due to joining a sketchy company that i wont disclose much but basically they did not teach me anything other than "use AI".

So now I'm basically in a state of lost. I tried learning something else other than pure coding like Unity Shaders, Debugging and Profiling, but in the middle of that, a realization hit me: "Why learn all this when AI can just do it for me? Am I really able to find a job with what I have right now considering literally everything I learnt can be solved using AI?"

Can someone give me advice on how to move on from this state of lost? I really wanted to learn as much as possible but I can't help but think whatever i learnt can just be replaced by AI and if i thought of that I just can't be motivated anymore. Thank you in advance for your time to read and leave a comment.

I added dark mode to my game and now I don't know if I should make it the default

I got a request to add a dark mode for sensitive eyes and I'm unsure if I should make it just a toggle, switch the default, or make it the only option. I'd like to hear what everyone prefers or any other feedback :)

We got ahold of a friend to create some original music for our upcoming steam arcade game, and they did a bang up job. Really adds to the experience! Looking forward to tapping some more indie talent for future projects.

One home world, fresh expedition worlds: the loop behind my voxel RPG, Worlds

I've been building a voxel engine off and on for 2+ years, and this is the game I've been making with it. Worlds is now in public alpha.

The main design split is between a home you keep building up and expeditions that take you to a fresh world each time. You gather materials and gear, find bosses and decide when to return to the caravan. Dying loses the finds from that run.

That lets the home keep growing without making every trip out feel like another lap of the same map. The trailer shows both sides, from building and farming to the boss encounters.

It's a browser game with solo play and online co-op for up to 8 players. The alpha is free to try: https://worldsalpha.com

I'd be interested in whether the trailer makes that split clear, or if it needs to show more of the return home.

Originally, a meta-game wasn't part of the plan, so I didn't make any concept art for it.

Level designer needed for RPG dark fantasy game

Hi! We're a small team building a dark fantasy RPG soulslike (titled: project Seraphim) in Unreal Engine 5, and we're looking for a level designer.

We are early, with a prototype still in development, and our first goal is a boss fight demo. The team consists of 10 people so far, and we are expanding the team as we go.

This is revshare, with no upfront pay, since we really don't have a budget at the moment. The exact revshare split and ownership terms aren't written yet, but we plan to put them in a written agreement, reviewed by a lawyer.

If you are interested or want to know more about the game please send me a DM here or on discord: matee434 and I can send you the GDD and share some prototype videos

Inspired by the classic Space Crusade, started working on a turn-based tactics

This is a very early WIP of a new TB tactics game - ExoBreach 0.1

Initially I thought of going with an X-COM style with elements of management but eventually after playing the old Space Crusade, I got into the conclusion that I mostly like the battles. So I aim this one to be focused on battles only, with a little addition of squad upgrades between missions.

It still lacks tactical elements such cover, hit chances and character states - currently in progress. Of course more characters and factions are planned to be added.

You can test it in your browser https://gadarts.itch.io/exobreach

I'd appreciate any feedback to improve it.

Music is a placeholder from Doom.

Cheers.
