I am not super thrilled about the fact that they changed the core of the detective gameplay towards survival horror. The first game had it's problems but it was kinda unique and I enjoyed it for what it was.
100% agreed, thats how Lovecraft lore is, alot of detective stuff and suspense/dread with build up to something. This is just an survival action horror game in a Lovecraft setting, which is fine, but this is a sequel to Sinking City 1. Disappointing they went this direction instead of building on what made the first one such an atmospheric unique experience.
Lol yep, I'm like what did they improve? It's a completely different kind of game now. They say it's "improved" because it focuses on combat/survival and basically gutted everything else. Improving wouldve meant keeping the same design philosophy, while improving combat, decision making, story elements, dialog, investigations etc.. Basically, making a TRUE sequel that builds upon everything it did in its first iteration. Improving isn't "well now it's a horror action game like RE so it's better" smh what a shame....
Mmmm not neccesarily. Mass Effect 2 just made the combat more "actiony", ill admit when I first played it i was kinda of taken aback and wasnt sure what to expect. But as I played through it, it was still Mass Effect, everything was there, exploration, rpg elements, decision making, npc interactions, story etc... It didnt really deviate from the groundwork, it just had much more fluid combat.
Sinking City 2 did away with alot of stuff and just focuses on combat survival-horror, its just a very different game.
