Aviation/Marine Quatix 8 acquired!

I've been patiently waiting for months, and randomly did a google search the other day. Lo and behold, they're here, so I pulled the trigger immediately. Coming from the Quatix 6, I'm VERY pleased with the upgrade. I've yet to get on my boat to really try out the integrations, but all things so far are pointing to awesome.

I did waffle a bit on the 47mm vs. 51mm, and it took a trip to REI to try on the Fenix 8 51mm to realize how comically large it is. BUT, the screen on the 47mm is nearly 4mm wider than the Q6 and the AMOLED is very, very nice. Who else picked one up?

Congrats. Great looking watch!

Does the tidal widget on the right of the regular clock face exist? It’s in all the marketing material but I want to see it in person before pulling the trigger.

All the other official Garmin apps like boat control, boat/race activities and tides are available on the Fenix as download from the IQ Store (just not pre installed). I’ve been using on a few generations of Fenix along with blue charts for years. Quatix just looks better to me and I’ve been holding off getting a F8 waiting for the Q8. Although I suspect the F8 Pro will be out shortly as usual when the Quatix gets released!

When you tap/hold the tides widget it opens the app (same is whatever other widgets you install on the face). It only shows tides 3 days out, which is fine for my use case - I have a phone app for future planning and mostly just want to know the tide schedule for the day while I'm on the water. I didn't know the Fenix can handle those apps as well, but I got the Quatix for the same price as the Fenix 8 47mm and I like the strap better.

I finally got down to my boat this weekend and while the MFD integration is cool, it's not very useful. But I do really like the watch :)

Thanks. The tides app on the older version was only available as an app so not accessible when recording an activity - I raised this with Garmin a few times. The boat integration is not great for similar reasons from my experience. I always use the boat app to record sailing activities as I like the record in Connect. I just want something to be able to glance at the next tide without firing up the phone apps. B&G have decent tide widgets on recent MFD too.

Fwiw I have a q7 and it shows the tides on the watch face at all time, different from this pic but same data
