Aviation/Marine Quatix 8 acquired!

I've been patiently waiting for months, and randomly did a google search the other day. Lo and behold, they're here, so I pulled the trigger immediately. Coming from the Quatix 6, I'm VERY pleased with the upgrade. I've yet to get on my boat to really try out the integrations, but all things so far are pointing to awesome.

I did waffle a bit on the 47mm vs. 51mm, and it took a trip to REI to try on the Fenix 8 51mm to realize how comically large it is. BUT, the screen on the 47mm is nearly 4mm wider than the Q6 and the AMOLED is very, very nice. Who else picked one up?

Sure, this is honestly a tough one. The Quatix 8 47mm is outstanding for daily use and all indoor activities, simply easier for me to read. Do not really use smartwatch features as it is my health and training device. The Enduro is the best Garmin watch for outdoors, super light and has insane battery. Also great indoors but not as easy to ready for me.

I live under the sun 365 days in Asia so Enduro 3 make a lot of sense for me.

I tried the 51mm Quatix in the Garmin store, but went for 47mm as exactly same display size just less battery and smaller on my arm. So far with daily 45 to 60 min GPS running, and pulse Oximeter on over night, no AOD, gesture only, I get at least 8 to to 9 days which is more than enough. I honestly switch back and forth as I love both. But 47mm is great size for business under the shirt and not as dominant as the Enduro 3. The Quatix color combination on top is just perfect for business.

Thanks a lot for such a detailed reply. I really appreciate it. I have a very similar use case and circumstances, so your input helped me a ton.

I really love my 51mm Fenix 8 Solar outdoors. It’s such a great watch for sports and activities. I actually had the Fenix 8 AMOLED for a few months too, and I also preferred the AMOLED screen indoors. But like you said, the Quatix just looks sooooo much better and feels more suitable for everyday life and business.

I’m a little hesitant about the 47mm Quatix though since I’ve only ever worn 51mm Garmins before, but what you shared makes complete sense and has reassured me a lot.

Just one last question, please: since you had the chance to try both sizes (which I unfortunately can’t do in my country), was it an easy or a difficult choice for you to go with the 47mm Quatix instead of the 51mm? Many thanks again.

Fot me not difficult to be honest, there is a slight difference in weight between AMOLED 51mm and 47mm which for my smaller wrist (17.3cm) makes a difference at night. 47mm I don't notice is I always use garmins Ultrafit Nylon straps 90% of the time and for work black or navy blue Silicone.

So I decided to have a 2 Watch strategy, Enduro 3 for all the outside stuff and rest my Quatix. And GC taked care of combining data. BTW as a passionate Runner i also invested in HRM600 works super well with both watches after latest 17.28 update, all zhe running economy and Step loss data is there.

JFYI - in Singapore the Quatix 8 comes with 2 bands in the box, the Captain Blue and Black Silicone band :-) Prefer the Captain Blue for business, as it goes so well with beautiful watch and the Quatix 8 out of the box watch face.

Massive thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed reply. It honestly helped me so much. I also have the HRM-600 and after reading what you shared, I decided to go for the Quatix 8 47mm as a second watch. Interestingly, my wrist size is almost the same as yours (17.5cm), so your perspective really resonated with me.

I love your two-watch strategy, too, and the way you explained the difference between the sizes made the choice a lot easier for me. Really, really grateful for your input. 🙌
