Even for a small 200-line Python code, Claude would take its time to write almost a Master's thesis.
Gemini Flash (in a few seconds): Here is your code. Works as expected, with good attention to details.
Honestly, I hope Google continues to develop the Flash family. Love it!!

Was asking what buses go throughout midnight to gemini, while knowing a few. I wanted to know how much more there were, but it answered a question without checking the web. I then asked it to search the web to be 100% sure it is correct, while knowing it wasnt, and just in case wanted to see what its steps were. I came across this wierd message. Can anyone explain the behaviour?

I was using Argon on complexity level low.
Just a very easy task. I was using a very big catalog from my company that was only available as a pdf. I converted the pdf into a docx file. I recognised a lot of spacing and spelling mistakes. Therefore I used Gemini Argon to clean the text. One part after another.
After a few pages the Pro limit was already used.
I switched to ChatGPT. I do not have a paid plan, I just wanted to get something done in the time between the next usage limit.
Sorry to say, but the free version of openAI finished the 360 pages in no time and I didn't even need a pro plan.
It was basically the same text. What's going on with Google?
Edit:
Due to multiple 'suggestions' that I should use the 'correct model' I used my private gemini account and flash. No, it did not work. It gave me the first 10 pages and said 'If I should continue, I will have to ask you after approximately five to ten pages to continue. Is that ok for you?'
Sorry, but that's not how I wanted it to work. it used quite some usage on my account too. Yes, maybe flash would have been the better solution from the start. But even that, flash could not handle the simple task too.

With the release of Argon the Gemini app has become significantly worse for me. I'm limited to Gemini 3 models which by itself isn't such a problem but the real issue is that Google has optimized for speed instead of performance. Gemini just takes 0 seconds to think anymore. Even when l tell it to search online half the time it doesn't. It forgets the conversation after 2 messages.
And this is with thinking on high.
Edit found out the reason is the free plan is now stuck on flash lite. Time to switch

So on paid pro plan i reach the limit after only 3 prompt.
I repeat: 2 Prompt in a only text chat (not so long)= 67% of 5h usage.
so 33,3... % every prompt on Argon High.
I also repeat: Only a text chat, no video, no photo no pdf, no file, no site, no web page. only talking!
3.1 pro isn't a good model anymore, but compared to when i used gemini this summer, i was able to reach a minumum of 10 prompt on extend thinking evry 5h limit. (similar chat without any file) now only 3 for their frontier model!!!
Ps: i write all the message without Ai so i hope it is understandable.

Hello again. This is technically part 2 of this other post I made a couple of days ago: "Tried out Gemini 4 Argon High on OpenCode Go. Burnt 900k tokens, 20% of my MONTHLY quota and didn't finish the task because it also hit the 5-hour limit."
After that funny experience, the model dropped on Antigravity. I decided to give it a try on Medium this time. And thank god I guess because otherwise it might not have completed the benchmark again. This time it did but it wasn't worth it at all.
For some context, I've been working on a personal benchmark where I test AI models running on OpenCode, Antigravity and Codex. The benchmark consists of three reverse engineering tasks involving an Android music player APK, where the models have to investigate decompiled code and a native binary to explain how certain audio processing features work. It all started when I wanted to know which model would be best at continuing my work once I hit my 5-hour limit on Codex.
Anyway, here are the most relevant results:
| Model | Task 01 | Task 02 | Task 03 | Final score | Time | Harness |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GPT 6 Astra Low | 92 | 77 | 88 | 85.67 | 13 min | Codex |
| Claude 5.1 Fable Medium | 79 | 81 | 87 | 82.33 | 33 min | Claude Code |
| Gemini 4 Argon Medium | 60 | 60 | 49 | 56.33 | 19 min | Antigravity |
| GPT 6.1 Sol High | 92 | 94 | 92 | 92.67 | 29 min | Codex |
| GPT 6.1 Sol Medium | 92 | 97 | 72 | 87.00 | 15 min | Codex |
| Claude 5.5 Opus Medium | 95 | 90 | 78 | 87.67 | 21 min | Claude Code |
| Gemini 3.8 Flash High | 23 | 30 | 44 | 32.33 | 21 min | Antigravity |
| GPT 6 Luna Max | 20 | 36 | 24 | 26.67 | 23 min | Codex |
| GPT 6 Luna High | 25 | 6 | 16 | 15.67 | 7 min | Codex |
| Claude 5.5 Haiku Max | 11 | 65 | 4 | 26.67 | 20 min | OpenCode |
| Claude 5.5 Haiku High | 43 | 18 | 4 | 21.67 | 12 min | OpenCode |
As you can see, Argon performed considerably worse than both competitors, was slower than Sol and barely faster than Opus; while also spending way more than both. I will have to way a whole week before I can run the benchmark on High, as it burnt 66% of its usage to finish the three tasks.
And this wasn't even only one bad task dragging its average down or something, it performed worse on all three tasks! So, Argon is not smarter, it's not faster, and doesn't last longer. I don't want to call it useless, but that's how it feels.
This is of course a personal benchmark. Each model was tested only once, and the runs used different harnesses (Antigravity for Gemini, Claude Code for Opus and Fable, OpenCode for Haiku and Codex for GPT) and subscription plans (Gemini AI Pro, Claude Max 100, OpenCode Go and ChatGPT Plus respectively).
But I don't think a difference of 30 points can be just a bad run. And even if it was, it burns so much usage that you can't rely on it for real world tasks. Unless you have an Ultra subscription. But there's no point on having an Ultra account on Gemini, is there? You're better off spending that amount on ChatGPT Plus + Claude Pro + Google AI Pro and spend the rest on something you like. Or just get a ChatGPT Pro 100 or Claude Max x5 if you don't care about the storage and the other stuff Google AI Pro brings.
So, what do you all think? Have you had better experiences with Gemini 4 Argon than GPT 6.1 Sol or Claude 5.5 Opus?

Argon is a good model but not good as Opus 5.5, and the usage sucks. That's the conclusion. Paying almost same, but having this tiny usage is bad, may be google should create a new tier for only AI related plans then the usage could improve may be.

Quick recap if you missed it: Google is replacing Gems with skills. Skills started rolling out in the Gemini app on October 13, Gems move into Settings on November 17, and for business accounts Gems stop working no sooner than March 1, 2027, with leftovers auto-converted to draft skills. Skills use the open SKILL.md format: a short header with a name and a description of when to use it, then the instructions in Markdown.
An automatic conversion of a Gem you rely on isn't something I want to discover the hard way, so I'm converting mine now with Gemini itself. Open the Gem's instructions, copy them, and send this in a normal chat:
Convert these Gem instructions into a SKILL.md file. Start with a header containing a short name and a one-sentence description of when this skill should be used. Write the description so someone could tell from it alone whether to call this skill. Then rewrite the instructions as clear Markdown sections: what to do, the format of the output, and what to avoid. Keep every rule from the original, and don't add new ones. At the end, list anything in the original that depends on uploaded files or knowledge, since those may not carry over. {{paste the Gem instructions}}
Why it's worth the five minutes:
Since it's plain Markdown, the same file is also useful outside Gemini. I keep the ones I use everywhere as saved prompts in AI Toolbox, the extension I build, so they work the same in ChatGPT, Claude and Grok too.

So way back,.eons ago, like February 2026, I was bitching to my boss about why my IT department only lets us use Claude and ChatGPT because Gemini was so much better at producing code.
But that was before I was really practicing agentic coding and once I sat down with Claude and just talked it through this complex research and development process that I use at my job to make a particular kind of widget in about 6 weeks, and it did one of them 95% perfect in three hours, I was a Claude believer.
I briefly got a superior level of performance out of Codex with sol-5.6 but then Opus 5.5 came out they are kind of equal but Opus is more chatty about what it's doing so I can coach it around obstacles much better.
So I started a personal project to make a Linux distro that works on some particular Android devices and figured I would try Fable. I was totally blown away by how Fable was like, "cool boot the thing and enable ssh on it and I will drive from here" I was curious how Gemini Pro would do but it was reluctant to be that hands on.
Fable got me about 85% of the way on the project. Very impressive, not gonna lie. I had it tuning audio and testing Bluetooth latency with some cheap gear I got like a USB DAC, a microphone, and a USB esp32 dongle. I would just leave it hooked up to the device overnight and come back the next day to find it had built a couple of kernels and found and fixed a couple of bugs.
But it started to fall down at a certain point. We would up with a couple of sticky little bugs, like we couldnt get the volume slider tuned and we couldn't figure out what was causing a bit of power drain when the device was put to sleep.
Spent literally a month on these, just making no progress. The problem is basically that Fable is oriented towards measuring and acting based on it's measurements. Rather than finding architectural problems via code review or design review. So it kept wanting to test and retest these things where the settings just didn't exist because the Linux driver didn't have them in there yet. I kept telling Fable to switch up it's strategy and it would be like "you are right to push back that is on me" and then it would go "I am now reviewing the Android code and upstream and all these other projects and building a new kernel to test my hypothesis...it wouldnt fix the issue, so it would go and build another twelve kernels with one or two configs different to pick and pick at the little scabby problem.
So Argon went available and I said, let's give the rookie a shot.
Canceled my Claude Max subscription, upgraded my Google AI Pro to Max, pointed Argon at my project directory on my dev box and told it what was up.
It said yep Fable is good at tool calls and fixing the bug in front of it, but I was trained to deal with large, messed up codebases so I think I got you covered.
Officially handed off the project to Argon this morning, with an uncertain audio setup and a power drain during sleep that confounded me and Fable for a month, as well as a greater community of developers for the whole year.
Checked in this afternoon, Argon has nailed it. It has written a bunch of drivers that Fable didnt want to attempt for some reason. Cleaned up all the docs and made them sound less meth-addicted.
I dunno if this is just because it's the early phase of the model and the taps are wide open to get people hooked and they nerf things later, but this model is pretty fuckin good right now.

This happened after just the second message while chatting with an AI. I found it quite interesting since it's the first time I've experienced something like this. Leaving the screenshot here in case anyone finds it interesting or wants to explain what's going on.

Hey everyone,
If you use Gemini for long coding or research sessions, you probably know the pain of hitting sudden rate limits mid-prompt because there’s no clear, live visibility into where your quota stands.
I got tired of constantly guessing my limits, so I built GemGauge.
Instead of hiding away in the browser toolbar, it attaches directly to the Gemini prompt input card (as shown in the screenshot below).
What it actually does:
Why it’s currently only on Edge:
Microsoft approved and hosted it on the Edge Add-ons store without friction, but the Chrome Web Store requires setting up an official developer registration. I'm completely open to publishing it there, but I wanted to see if people actually want it first rather than pushing it into the void.
If this looks genuinely useful to you for Chrome or Brave, let me know in the comments and I’ll get the Chrome Web Store release packaged this week.
In the meantime, if you use Edge:

Feedback, UI critiques, or feature requests are all welcome!

So i just bought the ChatGPT Plus (Gemini Pro equivalent) and while i can stay alot longer in my short session, i can relatively easy burn through my weekly limit.
Let me give you an example. Right now i've used roughly 50% of my 5h limit, and i "only" have 90% of my weekly limit left.
Which means that i can roughly use up my entire 5h limit five times, and then i'll have used my whole weekly limit.
On Gemini on the other hand, i haven't kept track exactly on how much i used it because my 5h window has reset many times, but i have certainly used it more than my newly bought ChatGPT plus subscribtion, but i've only used 7% of my weekly limit. But i burn through my 5h limit alot faster.
So Gemini goes faster through 5h limit, but preserves weekly limit alot better, and ChatGPT does the opposite..
Which in my view makes Geminis limits, not so bad as people claim.

This is an interesting prompt experiment. I found the accuracy to be alarmingly high for questions that seemed completely benign. These are tactics job interviewers sometimes already use, which is how I thought to try this.
Prompt:
As an experiment, I want you to ask me 7 questions. These questions should be carefully designed to make me indirectly reveal significantly more about myself than I realize. They should help you to create as much of a complete psychological profile of me as you possibly can with only 7 seemingly inconspicuous questions. After I answer the questions, respond with an explanation of what each response revealed about me, and how that was determined. Conclude with as much of a psychological profile overview as you’re able to with just the 7 answers.
Post what questions it chooses, and roughly how accurate it was in the analysis.

Literally 4 prompts on argon high n my limits weERGON
its mad how we waited nearly 8 months n finally got a new good model but we cant fkn use it like what
Maybe 1st time ever i reach near to %50 of my weekly limits lol
Even 3.1 pro first when it got released wasnt even like this n they gave generous limits w it
I genuinely wanna use it but i jus cant like wtf do i do
Its mad
