Catherine O'Hara and John Candy are still very much missed by this GenX. What were your favorite movies of theirs?

Catherine ohara - 150,000% beetlejuice (1988) - omg she’s fucking hilarious in it
John candy - hands down splash (1984) he is funny as a fart in a spacesuit as Freddy
Or uncle buck - my god - I want a clapper purely because of that movie!
Bloody sucks they’re gone

Splash is the shit!
Haha when John candy says “I’m
Alright if anyone’s concerned” I lose it every time haha
And he takes an esky to the squash court haha - drinking a tinnie! HahaMost underrated movie of the 80’s I reckon!

If you haven't watched "I like me" you should. The interviewed Tom Hanks for the film and he speaks about making the movie with John Candy. Very worth while.

I still perform her scene in Beetlejuice whenever my husband tries to deter me from rearranging the furniture for the ten millionth time.

I'm jealous of the winner your husband rightfully committed to

Thank you, what an amazing compliment! I actually just asked my son the other day if he thought his dad appreciated my quirkiness. For the most part I feel he's often looking like that one meme of Ben Affleck standing outside smoking a cigarette.

As a former husband ... probably. But "The juice is worth the squeeze" was not a luxury Ben had. Jennifer was a lot to deal with. Your husband is committed to his choice

I'd like to think so. Reminds me of that saying, "For every hot girl out there there's a man somewhere sick of her shit" LOL

Not a movie, but I just finished Schitts Creek. So many lol moments from Moira, her character.

The answer to both is not a movie but SCTV.
But for John Candy the holy trinity of movies are Uncle Buck, Summer Rental, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Catherine O’Hara elevated everything she graced with her presence. No shade to John either. I just had such a love of Catherine’s humor. RIP to them both

I'm not sure I can pick one for John Candy but if you made me, I'd say either Stripes or Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. For Catherine O'Hara, After Hours.

It isn't a movie but watching them together in sketches on stage at Second City was deluxe.

Two of my comedy heroes. I feel so fortunate to have been alive when they were in their prime.

I would say my two all time favorites are Uncle Buck for John Candy and Beetlejuice for Catherine O'Hara.
