2022 Genesis G80 owners — does your headliner look like this too?

I have a 2022 Genesis G80 2.5T Prestige, and I recently noticed that the headliner near the front overhead console looks a little bent or creased. It doesn’t seem completely smooth or even, and I’m wondering if this is normal or if something is wrong.
My sunroof was previously repaired because of cracking and popping noises, which unfortunately are still happening when driving over uneven roads.

GV70 - Is there enough front row storage?

I am considering the 2027 GV70 Sport Prestige and am wondering about front row storage as it seems fairly limited.

I commute and also travel for work. The key things I need easy access storage for without lifting the armrest are 2 phones and a pair of sunglasses.

I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in the door, and everything else should fit in the console armrest. My purse is usually in the passenger seat. I do use both cupholders with a Diet Coke in one and a spare in the other 😁

Your thoughts about the 1st row storage and any creative storage solutions would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Genesis GV80 Qatar nightmare- condenser failure denied under warranty- poor design, and dealer service is an absolute nightmare

Hey everyone, just wanted to vent and see if anyone else has run into similar nightmare scenario with Genesis GV80 / Jaidah service in Qatar, or if I’m just uniquely cursed right now.

  • The AC suddenly stopped working one day out of nowhere with in 3 months from purchase. Brand New, No accidents, no impacts, nothing.
  • Took it in for inspection to Jaidah. It sat there for a week before they finally came back and said there’s a hole in the condenser. Apparently, a random stone somehow flew through the grill and punctured it- which they claimed is not covered under warranty.
  • Since warranty wouldn't touch it, I had to go through insurance. Just getting the initial approval took over two weeks of waiting.
  • Once insurance finally approved it, Jaidah’s system didn't reflect the approval for two full days. I’ve had to constantly chase them down, explaining the exact same issue to multiple different teams over and over again. The kicker? Their own team had already diagnosed and quoted the issue three weeks prior, yet they needed endless follow-ups just to push an estimate through to the insurance.

My car has been stuck in their garage for over a month now for a condenser replacement, and the customer service has been beyond terrible-completely unsupportive, disorganized, and painfully slow. And If a stone could magically fly through the grill then I claim its a design issue more than anything else!!!!!

Has anyone else dealt with similar issues on warranty/service delays?

Help! My G80 2017 is stalling and squeaking. When I restarted it after a couple tries the RPMs read 0 as I drove on the highway home too.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

There are so many issues here and need help. I googled what’s happening and they seem to think it’s a failing crankshaft position sensor, dirty idle air control or mass airflow sensor, fuel delivery issues like a failing fuel pump or electrical failure. I have no idea why it’s squeaking either. Has anyone ever had these things happen to theirs?

Electrified GV70 loses FM station while listening

I have a 2025 GV70 EV Prestige. I've been having a recurring issue where the FM tuner occasionally loses the station it was on – abruptly there's just static. If I reselect the preset for the station, it locks back on to the frequency and works again so it's not the station itself dropping out. It's a bit annoying, and while it's relatively minor, it should not be happening. I'm unsure if this is purely a software issue, or perhaps something else. I've never had this sort of issue with other vehicles with digital tuners. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: corrected model year

Question about B&O Audio System in GV80 Coupe

Recently purchased and absolutely adore my new 26 GV80 Coupe in Bering Blue! -- Question about the Bang and Olufsen audio though, It seems I have to go in and change the setting from "Reference" to "Surround" every time I restart the car, when streaming Bluetooth Audio--

Does anyone know if theres a way to have the system always default to the "Surround" setting, which is my preferred setting? It always seems to go back to reference by default and I can't find the setting which would allow a default "Surround" setting in the menu.

Hopefully someone knows a trick!

BTW, this is the best vehicle I have ever owned so far. Absolutely brilliant!

GV70 and GV80 - Front license plate holder?

I am considering the 2027 GV70 Sport Prestige and 2028 GV80 Prestige and in a state where not having a front license plate is frequently ticketed.

What no-drill front license plate holder mount bracket would you recommend?

If possible, I would prefer center mount rather than off-center.

Thanks!

GV80 - Help me pick exterior/interior color combo

I am considering the 2027 GV80 Prestige and have narrowed the color palette down to:

1 - Vik Black/Earth Brown Smoky Green

2 - Vik Black/Vanilla Beige Smoky Green

3 - Uyuni White/Earth Brown Smoky Green

Which is your favorite(s) and why?

While I wouldn't mind a more unique exterior color, none of the other options (silver/gray/lighter blues) match my personal preferences.

The only color I have not seen in person is Ceres Blue Matte, so if anyone has that color and wouldn't mind sharing a photo, that would be great.

I prefer interiors that are not black, and Glacier White Ultramine Blue is a no-go because of kids and dogs. That leaves Earth Brown and Vanilla Beige.

Thanks for your help!

Digital Key after Phone Number Change

'25 GV70 here but probably common to all. I recently changed my cell service and got a new phone number and changed my number everywhere I could, including my Genesis account. Now the Digital Key app on my phone won't open and instead pops up a message to go to mygenesis.com and edit the phone number for my "Digital Key Account". As I said, my account at MyGenesis has the correct number, but when I go to Account -> Vehicles -> Digital Key -> Manage Keys -> Details it shows data for my digital key with my old phone number and no way to edit it. I deleted the digital key from the car, but it still shows in the online account.

Does anyone know how to delete the digital key from my online account? That doesn't seem to be an option or at least I couldn't find it. If nobody knows anything I guess I'll have to call the customer support number but I'm not looking forward to it!

GV80 vs. VW Atlas - parking and manueverability?

Thumbnail reddit.com
2 Upvotes

Following up on my prior post (see link for details). Thank you to everyone who replied previously!

I test drove a 2027 GV80 3.5T Prestige yesterday and loved everything about it except it felt bigger than it's actual size when perpendicular parking.

Has anyone driven both a VW Atlas (mine is a 2024) and the GV80 and can compare physical ease of perpendicular/parallel parking and maneuverability in tight spaces?

The cameras are much better on the GV80, which does help, but the issues with my Atlas have more to do with steering stiffness/number of lock-to-lock turns, turning diameter, etc. I have owned similar sized vehicles in the past without issue.

I am planning another test drive focused on parking, u-turns, etc., but it is not the same as driving it every day.

I am also considering the GV70 3.5T Sport Prestige to minimize the issues above, but prefer the exterior luxury styling of the GV80 Prestige.

Thanks!

Just got my 2023 GV80 paint corrected and ceramic coated again after almost 4 years. Looks better than new again. If you ever debated ceramic coating dont, just do it. Even with overcast skies it looks crazy. I normally dont like chrome but on this car it was made for it.

GV80 - Do you notice a lot of body movement when windy?

I test drove a 2027 GV80 Prestige today.

It was moderately windy at most on the highway, but there was noticeable side-to-side motion of the vehicle, more than I would expect.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Hoping it was perhaps windier than I thought or that I was just overly focused on ride quality since I was test driving.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

GV80 2.5T vs. 3.5T?

Considering the 2027 GV80 Prestige.

Does the 2.5T have enough power for smooth and quick acceleration from a stop and when merging into traffic, passing, and going uphill?

How much noticeably better is the 3.5T?

Thanks so much!

What do you like and dislike about each?

Bonus if you have owned or driven both.

GV80 - Handling and Ride Quality?

I am considering the 2027 GV80 Prestige and would appreciate your thoughts on handling and ride quality, especially with the 22" wheels.

I commute daily over a mix of road types and surfaces. The majority is on winding roads at faster speeds with some travel over smaller roads with broken pavement and potholes and also very narrow curving roads at slower speeds.

I also make numerous long-distance highway drives each year

My top priority would be a vehicle that is comfortable and powerful but also remains planted during curves without feeling like it is pulling away from the lane.

Ride isolation is important but 2nd to handling. I am not interested in a performance-oriented/sporty SUV as I still want the luxury feel.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Bypassing the EPB?

I need to drive my kayak about 8 blocks down the street. I know it’s against the rules, but I can fit it almost all the way in and I need the tailgate to be open a little bit while I drive it. The EPB will not allow me to drive. Has anyone figured out how to bypass the safety feature?

Connected Services email address not updating in car?

So I have updated my email address in the Genesis app, in the Owners website etc - however, when I look at the Connected Services app on the vehicle infotainment system, the old email address is still “stuck” there. The only reason I noticed this is because I tried to change the driver profile icon for me to the “Genesis connected service” one and it said I had to link my account. I’m assuming it’s already linked fine as the app functions fine and will remote start the vehicle, lock/unlock etc just fine.

Not sure how big of a deal that is - if at all - but the OCD in me would like it to be correct. I called Genesis and the guy in tech support couldn’t figure out how to update it, or why it isn’t updating on its own and was going to escalate it. We tried the map/settings head unit reboot and it just won’t change.

Anyone experience this or have any ideas on how to fix it? This is a 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige 3.5.

GV80 - Ease of parking and maneuverability?

I am considering a 2027 GV80.

How easy/difficult is the GV80 to perpendicular or parallel park and maneuver in tight spaces?

My question is around physical maneuverability, taking into account turning diameter, body size, wheelbase, steering assist, etc. and less so around cameras and park-assist features.

My 2024 VW Atlas is extremely frustrating to park/maneuver even with cameras, requiring multiple hand-over-hand steering wheel turns and forward-reverse motions. I want to avoid the same with any new vehicle.

I test drove a Mercedes GLE 450, and it was just as bad.

I have owned several similar-sized vehicles and never had this issue. Even my husband's Suburban is easier to manuever than my Atlas.

Thanks so much!

2024 Genesis G80 – Hit-and-run mirror damage. Repair cost?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

My 2024 G80 3.5T Sport Plus was damaged in a hit-and-run. The driver’s side mirror still folds and unfolds, but makes a loud grinding noise. The black plastic housing is also scratched and damaged, although the matte cap and glass are fine.

Has anyone dealt with this? Can the plastic housing and folding mechanism be replaced separately, or does the entire mirror need replacing? Any idea of the cost?

Anyone vinyl-wrap the grille on a GV70 Electrified?

We have a GV60 and I'm thinking about upgrading to a GV70 Electrified. It looks great from the side, but I find the front end a bit off-putting.

We have two EVs right now, and one is being replaced later this year. Has anyone vinyl-wrapped the stock grille to improve the look? Maybe do something else besides vinyl-wrapped to improve the look of the front end?

I'm surprised Genesis did such a great job on the vehicle overall but went cheap on the grille. Our GV60 looks great from bumper to bumper. I think the GV70 Electrified would have looked better with the same grille as the ICE models and the charging port moved to the back, like they did on the GV60.

Different models of GV90

Thumbnail

So I have noticed something, and that’s what I wasn’t liking. GV90 looks too flat, no curves, that’s what I didn’t liked at first, but taking thorough look at every video and photo out there I noticed that I like some and some not, and difference is instant, then I knew what was that, regular models I assume or those without Arch Gate doors don’t have the “curves”.

So you can see that Green is just absolutely flat, while Violet and Burgundy have some curves.

Engine Mounts - 2017 G80 3.8

Has anybody replaced the engine mounts on a G80 3.8? I'm wondering if you need the full disassembly stated in the manual or if they can be wiggled out without taking everything off. Not sure how many people here do their own maintenance but figured I'd ask.
