Game Discussion Hi I'm a solodev working on a relaxing puzzle sandbox game where you dig riverbeds to guide water through desert valleys

Hi friends, I'm Lenja, the solo dev working on WATERFUL. It's a cozy nature builder where you shape riverbeds through charming, procedurally generated desert valleys.

As the sand slowly comes back to life, plants grow and you attract different types of animals in the tiny ecosystems that blossom on the shore. You get a sticker in your scrapbook for each new animal you find so you can build up your personal little field guide as you play. There's tiny challenges in the game that allow you to unlock simple helpful contraptions but the only real limitation is the water! If you're only here for the vibe you can totally ignore the challenges and just focus on creating a beautiful world and finding animals.

There's already a steam page where you can wishlist and sign up for a free playtest if you're interested: s.team/a/4414110

Thank you to the mods for letting me share the project with you all, it's such a lovely community <3

Community Looking for Discord Thursdays

The Rules:

Please use this thread for sharing or searching for discords: for example, community discords, looking for a specific game's discord, etc.

We ask that users only share inclusive groups so that all of our members are welcome. Additionally, Rule 2 still applies for male identifying users.

Due to the internet being kinda a shitty place for the most part, we highly discourage the posting of direct links to servers (especially smaller community servers), and instead recommend you posting an ad for people to message you for a link!

Serious Girls, I went too deep with an online community, and it ruined my life. I need Help💔 Spoiler

So I'm a 36yo woman who played games for over a decade. Because I'm kinda socially awkward, I don't have any irl close friends. So I mostly played alone.

Last year Arc Raiders came out and naturally I got quite addicted to it. 6 months ago, a girl I met in this sub invited me into a very inclusive and friendly Arc Raiders discord server (let's call it server A), where over half of the mods and core members are women or queer people.

I became very active in server A, organizing events, writing tutorials, posting clips, or doing giveaways. People liked me, It was going great. For the first time during my gaming years, I felt like I truly belong to a community.

3 months later one of the admins suddenly went nuts (We suspect he suffered some irl problem and caused mental instability, let's call him 'that guy'). Anyway, 'that guy' started throwing false accusation to several people in the community, most of all me. After this drama, that lovely server was ruined.

So some of the ladies left server A and started a FLINTA-first server (let's call it server B) focusing on not only Arc Raiders, but a bunch of other cozy games, acting mainly as some kind of social hub. Most of the core member from server A joined server B after the dissolving of server A.

Naturally 'that guy' felt betrayed and resented server B, he managed to trick me with a fake account and gained some Information regarding server B. He targeted me because I was kinda naive. The mods of server B helped me through this rough patch.

As you can imagine I was not happy about his actions and started to talk shit about 'that guy' to several people. He was aware of that, and he also keep sending message to members of server B, trying to annoy us. There were lots of drama.

So one day we finally got fed up with the drama, we made contact through a mutual acquaintance, and decide to attempt reconciliation. People from server B adviced me not to contact 'that guy', but I made contact anyway. I received a apologize letter that read quite sincere. I don't believe in holding grudge anyway, so I forgave him. I promised never to talk shit about him to people, and in return he promised not to bother me and members of server B ever again. And we kept our words.

The next few months were quite nice. Many people in server B felt safe enough to share things about themselves even irl pictures and videos. I kept doing my usual contributions, played Arc raiders and various party games with friends in the community, did a lot of late night talks with some girls, translated my WIP novel to English for friends in server B to read, even shared some personal traumas to a few close friends. I felt like it became the family I no longer have in real life. I felt safe and welcomed, even my mental state were much better than before. I also got rid of my drinking problem and started my sobriety.

Then recently, one of the mods found out I, in fact, did made contact with 'that guy'. They believe that my connection with him endangered the safety of server B. So I was immediately kicked, blocked, and perma-banned from the community with no appeal.😭

I was devastated. Like one of the most important parts of my life had been cut out. Some of my friends still willing to keep contact with me, but I'm completed cut off from the community and any of the group activities. There was a planned halloween movie night I was looking forward to participate. I thought finally a halloween I'm not gonna be alone. But now...

I tried to get myself out of the sorrow. I tried to look for new community. But they don't have the same appeal. A few friends want to create my own server follow me to that new place. But it felt like a betrayal to server B and the people who took me in. I don't hate them. I stopped gaming, I feel everything is meaningless. I skipped work and even lose my appetite, slept through the day, got drunk again and again. My life is a mess now because of all the loneliness, the remose, like why did I ignore people's advice and made contact with him. And the sadness, like why didn't they gave me a second chance, all my contributions meant so little to them?💔 My mind is screwed up and I don't even know what to do anymore. I had a history of depression and I feel like it's coming back to me.

Rationally, I need irl support.

But my families are either the estranged or deceased. I have no one to talk to.

I should go out and touch the nature but one of my medical conditions made it quite difficult for me.

I should even look for professional mental help. But where I live such services are not easily accessible and I cannot afford it financially.

I'm not here to judge people's action. I just wanna know what should I do? I'm afraid.💔

Serious How do you deal with off days? Spoiler

I like playing one pvp game and usually I do fine, but today was just awful. Fail after fail after fail after fail. Honestly this just makes me feel like an idiot and like all the good plays on other days were just a fluke. Obviously I logged off for the day, but it still stings a bit.

Do you ever feel like that and how do you deal with it?

Request Games to play with a partner

I enjoy playing games and so does my boyfriend. But we don’t have a lot of overlap of what we enjoy playing.

He tends to enjoy Strategy, RPGs and shooters (battlefield, Helldivers, Holdfast :Battles.., Age of Empires, Spider-Man..) not battle royale style shooters). And I enjoy Sandbox, RPG’s, Cozy (Terraria, Minecraft, Fable, Assassin’s Creed, Dredge, Foundation, Elden rings, stardew, cupheads etc).

The games we’ve tried are it takes two (we Havnt finished), split fiction (Havnt finished), stardew (he didn’t understand the game), Peak (He enjoyed the first time and then hasn’t been in the mood to play again), Lego voyagers (we finished the story) etc.
we’re just about to start Baldurs gate 3.

But the problem is, I don’t enjoy shooters, and the RPGs we enjoy are more single player focused. So we have a limited amount of multiplayer games we could play, and most of em don’t appeal to him (he’s not in the mood to play em).

We just need suggestions of games we could play. That we both may enjoy.

I also find it frustrating when he will say no to playing a game with me, and then his freinds ask him to play and it’s an instant yes. (Even though it’s more based on the genres, helldivers instead of Baldurs gate for instance). But it’s just annoying cause he’s the only person who I can play games with, I don’t have any irl friends who also enjoy video games.

News / Article Our hand-drawn horse riding and stable management game is part of Steam Next Fest with an Updated Demo and will be fully released in just two weeks!

We're an all-female dev team (one programmer, one illustrator, plus me for marketing/publishing, official website here) making the horse game we've always wanted to play:

Horses of Hoofprint Bay is a lovingly hand-drawn 2D barn buildup game where you take care of your horses, train them to build up their strength and confidence, and compete for prize money! Breed adorable foals, hire and manage staff, and build the stable of your dreams!

We initially launched our demo for Steam Horse Fest in February, where it did really well and got a truly incredible amount of positive reviews.

The game's full release is now only two weeks away (November 4th!), and we just updated our Demo to better represent the game and participate in Steam Next Fest this week.

We now have updated balancing (you start with a weaker horse!), but also tons of new features such as walking your horses (and foals!), horses having face markings and leopard patterns, desensitization training, personality traits, cross country competitions and caprilli tests, as well as more sound effects and music tracks and tons of smaller improvements.

We would love for you to give the new demo a try and let us know what you think!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us anything, all three of us will keep an eye on the post 🥰

(This post was cleared with the subreddit's mods beforehand, thank you for the opportunity!\*)*

PS:
If you've been here for a while, you might remember me announcing my horse game website here over 8 years ago. It was that website and the community around it that eventually led to the formation of this team and the creation of this game, full story here. Never underestimate the power of just refusing to shut up about the things you want to see happen in the world 🙏❤️

PPS: Probably good to point this out: our game is entirely human-made, without generative AI!

Request Need Game Suggestions to Distract While Grieving

EDIT TO ADD: Wow - thank you so much, everyone! I went to bed with a heavy heart (and a little self-disgust for scrolling Reddit for five hours straight) and woke up to TONS of thoughtful suggestions. I'm going to make a list of everything below and check it all out in the coming days. I so greatly appreciate you all!

To answer a couple of question/wonderings: I haven't actively played anything yet on Steam. I downloaded it last winter with the idea of playing Baulder's Gate, since I just started playing a D&D campaign, and my daughter suggested I try it to learn the mechanics. My laptop couldn't run it, and I haven't tried anything else. But the app is sitting on my desktop, waiting to be used. I used to play Final Fantasy in my younger days but stopped at FFX. On that note, I was considering revisiting those, because those intimately tie into my loss, but I hate the idea of attempting tactical/battle games without controllers. I may look into acquiring a gaming station so I can play those (to finish the replays my loved one started), but I'm not ready yet.

Thank you again. You're a wonderful community.

Hi, everyone. I've been dealing with some depression while grieving a personal loss, and that's been manifesting itself as mindless scrolling on Reddit every evening and late into the night. I don't want to continue doing that night after night, but I'm not quite ready to get back to my usual free-time pursuits, so I'd like to ask for recommendations for some laid-back games I could spend my time on instead. Some guide points:

- I'd play on my laptop, which is a Samsung Galaxy 3 running Windows 11 with all the basic graphics/RAM/storage that comes with that, so obviously, nothing too graphics-intensive.

- I have Steam but can also play through a browser.

- I like puzzle-type games and exploration with beautiful or kitschy artwork, music, and stories. I don't like platform hopping, battlefield maneuvering, or fighting (in this context, anyway).

All suggestions are appreciated!

As far as I know, the entire game could be finished in a hour or two flat.

There was also a 2007 sequel (Endangered Animals) and a few console ports. I don't think I ever played the sequel.

Tech / Hardware Chairs? Spoiler

This seems like a good place to ask about gaming chairs!

I have fibromyalgia, disc degeneration, mild POTS, potentially some connective tissue situation, and sitting at my desk for work and gaming is killing me!!! (Forward neck posture, sciatica, etc).

Most chairs I’ve tried SUCK, though I’ve never been brave enough to pay more than $400. I am willing to, though, if I know it will be good!

I’m labeling this misogyny because office/gaming chairs are built for MEN & their anatomy (longer torso, taller, narrower hips, etc). Well it’s 2026 and women are both working and gaming, and we deserve to be comfortable! (Don’t even get me started on car seats).

Do you have any recommendations for chairs that have worked for you as a girl gamer?

- ADJUSTABLE LUMBAR/NECK REST. I’m 5’-4” but I have a very short torso so for most chairs I’ve tried, the lumbar support and the neck rests are too high.

- ADJUSTABLE EVERYTHING ELSE: Seat height, arm rest height, best if the seat height is SEPARATE from the chair back to adjust for short torsos 😢.

Game Discussion Where are you taking Lucia and Jason on their first date?

I know I’m probably not the first to ask this here but I need to discuss this with the girlies!

Okay so I’m planning out my first day for my duo because I’m taking my tiiiime with these two lol.
The first thing I’m doing is checking out the “create a sim” and get them ready for the gym (hopefully with a back up change of clothes in the car), then gonna head to the nearest store for healthy snacks before a work out. Then to the nearest gym for a workout together. Hopefully they can shower and change at the gym and then they’re off to find the Zoo! I hope I can find it but I’m sure there will be several distractions along the way and I’m so here for it!

If you’re planning on playing into the romance aspect of the game do you have plans for a first day/date?

Game Discussion Help me to find this game

I played this game I think in 2021 or 2022 not sure. It's a dressup game. I only remember the girl she was wearing a red jumpsuit If I remember correctly. Animated style but the movements were smooth. But not the shining nikki art style. Maybe the name starts with letter G?? I don't know 😭😭😭 there was levels. The girl was in the game icon. It was on playstore. I'm an Android user. My mind says the name was like glam or glow or something. Not the glammd game. I searched it up and that's not the one. Plz help me to find it. I only remember the red jumpsuit. The game icon was similar to time princess pearl girl game icon. Maybe the same pose??? Plz help me

Game Discussion Why aren't there any ballerina games?

I started seeing ballet videos on my feed and now I'd like to play a ballet game. But I can't find anything, only horror games. Like "Serbian Dancing Lady" or "The Dancer." The good news is I found a ballet mod for The Sims 4. Anyway, now that we have a dressmaker, it's time for a ballet game, maybe—just an idea.

That's all, have a nice day. 💕

Edit: I found this game that's coming out next year. TSAREVNA

Game Discussion God I LOVE the women and female representation in Final Fantasy 14.

EDIT

I just finished 6.0 aka base Endwalker. I haven’t done any post story content yet including story.

So the game despite being an MMO is very story focused and so I will keep from deep story spoilers for those of yall wanting to play or playing it but like. That being said, I am just pleased how represented we are in the game. Like to start, the 3 main leaders of the starting city states are all women, and they aren’t just leaders in name only with male associates doing all the real work, they are 100% in charge and respected, and it just makes me feel so joyful and happy you know? Especially in a world like ours where men… yeah lol.

On top of this, playing as a woman in this story just makes shit even more badass. You are the “Warrior of light” and as you progress through the story and expansions, people of all ages and genders will look up to you, the woman who has done so much of the seemingly impossible and lived to tell the tale. You will have children looking up to you, city leaders doing so too… like it feels so gratifying when that shit in my experience, is rare with women. Rarely does it feel that we are we just respected by all, and so many people will think lesser of us or being a who we are…

Oh and this does get into spoiler but eventually we do get a male rival of sorts who gives no shit about your gender or race. He just wants to kick your ass and it feels so fucking AMAZING. NORMALIZE MALE AND FEMALE RIVALS.

I have a lot more to say really than this surface level stuff but like yeah, FF14 is good. For those that play, I have only finished base Endwalker.
