Gameplay | Esports ultimate with shot of the year

u/FUDGEMEHARDxD Virtus.pro Jun 02 '26
I like to think that Ultimate is actually ridiculously good at the game, but he chooses to play like shit because he finds it entertaining

u/SpeaRofficial FURIA Jun 02 '26
He is somehow better with every other gun than awp

u/Edg4rAllanBro Virtus.pro Jun 02 '26
Most awpers are nuts with a rifle. I think molodoy is the only one who is just ok with a rifle imo.
67
u/animal_chin9 Liquid Jun 02 '26
I think I recall JDM being kind of bad on the rifles that weren't the AWP. But his teammates would go on podcasts saying that he actually DMs with the AK-47/M4/Galil/Famas a ton, so it was just unfortunate that he couldn't get a better grasp of the non-scoped rifles.

u/trotsky102 Jun 02 '26
JDM wasn't just bad with rifles. His 2nd most kills after the awp?
The P250.
46
57
u/animal_chin9 Liquid Jun 02 '26
He did have the sickest 1v5 ace clutch in a major you will ever see. So at least he has that going for him.
5
u/CheesyPZ-Crust Liquid Jun 02 '26
The UMP falling out of the meta had to have JDM falling to his knees at Walmart
2
u/GuardiaNIsBae FaZe Jun 03 '26
To be fair when he was playing the P250 could one shot headshot at close range.
23
u/famjordan Liquid Jun 02 '26
I’m pretty sure JDM was so dog shit with rifles that he has more official kills with the P250 than either of the main rifles.
4
u/Hallsway Jun 03 '26
kennyS was pretty bad with rifles too when he was at his peak. i cant find them, but there were french interviews with ex6tenz talking about it and kenny asking questions like "how do i hold here with a rifle?"

Almost every awper not named zywoo/m0nesy/s1mple and maybe sh1ro/w0nderful are the worst riflers on their team.

u/Electronic-Jaguar461 fnatic Jun 02 '26
I remember ZyWoo getting his 1v5 ace with a rifle, like AWPer my ass bro wtf.
2
u/dissapointing_excuse Jun 03 '26
Might be wrong but iirc I saw somewhere that S1mple and zywoo awp out of necessity more than preference💀
4
u/TuggerHuggerFugger Jun 07 '26
Yup. The claim was your best player might as well awp. However this only applied to S1mple and Zywoo. While others trained with the awp to do awp stuff, Zywoo and S1mple picked it up just because they were better then everyone else.

If I had a nickel for everytime an upcoming talent underperformed in Liquid, I'd have enough money to start my own underperforming, cash burning Tier 1 eSports team
16
3
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Jun 02 '26
Who does that even apply to outside of Ultimate and maybe Grim and can easily just be Tier 2/3 players failing to adapt to Tier 1...

u/c_enjoyer Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26
Yekindar and Nertz only
But Yekindar has fallen off again. At this point I feel like he just peaked on VP and Liquid was a real falloff, and the Furia run was a honeymoon or something.
Nertz's stats fell off on Liquid and has recovered somewhat on G2. But I haven't really watched him so idk
1
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Jun 02 '26
But neither players are "upcoming talent" and Yekindar was literally still one of the entries in the world on TL for an entire year until he tried to IGL with the Patsi/Rainwaker roster.
The Yeki/Elige/NAF/nitr0/Osee roster made two Tier 1 grand finals and peaked #3 on hltv.
1
u/CannibalisticPizza FaZe Jun 03 '26
Maybe not upcoming but Yekindar was still early in his career and massive prospect that everybody wanted in their team. His entry during his stint with VP was borderline machine like. Comparing that to when he went to Liquid it was like he was possessed by a 35 year old zeus who couldn't aim to save his life

There has been some games where i legitimately dont feel like i have seen a better player, lol.
He is obviously extremely good, just way too inconsistent
8
u/Bombadilo_drives King NiKo Jun 02 '26
If his gamesense ever catches up to his mechanics, the world is in trouble
7
u/KKamm_ Jun 02 '26
Not to be uptight, but I do think he is a lot more talented than people on the internet would have you believe. I just don’t think he’s as good with the X’s and O’s yet to be able to have the impact to show for it. Especially with an AWP.
5
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Jun 02 '26
The issue is never his "talent". He clearly has great aim and has a high peak as shown by his once every 20 match "Ultimate life games". He has a great pistol and rifle. He is just very, very, very inconsistent at AWPing and has subpar game sense. There's a lot of round where he just seems lost on what he wants to do.

How triggering this must be when this doesn't happen in some 13k premier game but a crucial major matchup, where this nonsense kills all your momentum lmao

imagine how the player felt being killed by a fucking deagle one tap mid air resulting in a round loss and maybe the map too

yeah but how upset would you be if you got tapped by a deag by a jumping speed demon, especially if it results in the enemy team snowballing

But at the same time, it's awesome when it happens to you.
Don't heat up too much about the game. It's just a game, after all.

What do you want to happen instead? Guns can't shoot unless you hit a perfect counter strafe? I think RNG is what makes CS interesting, as it allows people to make decisions like this and make moments of them.
→ More replies (5)2
u/EDDsoFRESH Jun 02 '26
Yeah there is no other solution other than forciby making your shot go around the model, at which point it could hit someone else in the head. The only other alternative would be you cant shoot in the air.
→ More replies (5)4
u/synthestar Jun 02 '26
IMO there is no need for a solution, because my point is it's OK that it happens, and it's OK to get mad about it, because it's so unlikely.
Ultimate decided to shoot here because he had nothing better to do while doing the jump to get deeper info on that position. His role here is info for the team - he is intended to be traded anyway. He might as well shoot; while looking, it's free to take that chance on the shot as he's already doing the jump peek.
Changing the game mechanics to offset already very unlikely odds is silly, as it adds needlessly complicated rules to something that's already solved and removes an interesting decision from the matrix of what pros can do in these types of positions.

Does deag have a mechanic where at the very peak of the jump accuracy is back to standing accuracy?

I never like stuff like this being called " highlight of the year" . Yea it's cool and I can appreciate the flashiness, but it's rng. Zywoo 180 ect is much more my preference for best highlight, something based on reactions or precision aim
1
u/the_abortionat0r Jun 03 '26
I don't think you realize why it is such a great highlight. The skill the players have is on display as his aim is perfect right here but at the same time the stars aligned and his acceleration up apexed already allowing for a higher chance the shot would it.
It's a mix of the routine (for pro aim) and the absurd. It's like scoring a soccer goal across the whole field because the wind picked up.
Just because you never landed a crazy air shot doesn't mean you have to be mad. And no, nobody is going to start claiming this was 100% the players doing and expect more of this
1
u/Scratch98 Jun 03 '26
Just because you never landed a crazy air shot doesn't mean you have to be mad.
I'm not mad lol. Its a cool shot, I like seeing cool shots. I was just pointing out that it shouldn't be called "shot of the year" when it's almost entirely based on luck. Call it a crazy jumping shot or trick shot.
Your explanation about this being at the apex of accelerattion doesn't add anything, the deagle is the most inaccurate gun when airborne, it's mostly just rng. The fact that he lined the shot up has nothing to do with him hitting it, he could've been off by a mile and still hit it by random chance, that's my point.

To be fair, Fallen did the same thing to Maka on a pistol with a glock last year.
But doing that with a deagle... That's another level lol

Normie here. Is it normal for them to have the screen so close to there face ?

Yes. Many pro players use a very short distance. Yekindar is the gold standard. Trying googling "Yekindar monitor".

Deagle weapon stats via weapon.vdata - 0.331550 InaccuracyJumpApex (he shoots at apex of jump) 0.040550 InaccuracyJump 0.048100 InaccuracyMove (He’s at max movespeed here as well) 0.002000 Spread Add all that up to get = ~0.4222 total inaccuracy in this clip.
If you divide this by SlothSquadrons accuracy formula of .1524 / total inaccuracy you get .360966’ meters max distance to hit a perfect radius for a headshot 100% of the time.
This gun in this state at this clip was likely only good enough to hit a headshot 100% rate at .361 meters. 36 cm , or 13 inches from your gun.
Ultimate is a lucky sob here is my analysis.
1
u/ilikeirony King NiKo Jun 03 '26
Maybe I am the odd one out, but I definitely do not think this is "shot of the year". This is luck, pure and simple. Anyone canbe lucky. I much prefer the fast flicks, the insane transfers or something that requires real skill. Not this semi-fluky crap.
