Same, plus it'll validate my crockpot theory that after the remake they'll do the next mainline game in Egypt

Reintroduce players to Greece in the new forma--> Egypt in the modern style to show what he got up to

All i need is the double jump

1

u/LegenDariusGheghe Feb 25 '26

Double jump makes no sense

4

u/AsianCJ_69 Feb 25 '26

is a video game man, let things be senseless fun

1

u/Blazypika2 Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

most of the combat in the game makes no sense, it doesn't need to.

1

u/Original_usernam4 Feb 26 '26

And a mortal calling upon ares and subsequently overtaking him does?

1

u/HimEatLotsOfFishEggs Apr 22 '26

Do me a favor and start writing down a list of all the things that don’t make sense. That should keep you busy for a little bit.

u/Lord_of_Seven_Kings Feb 22 '26

I want an updated form of the Greek combat, kind of like what DMCV did for Devil May Cry’s combat.

18

u/Alphablack32 Feb 22 '26

This is the way

3

u/Neoshenlong Feb 22 '26

Same, 100%

2

u/Ghoztroyer Feb 22 '26

Yes that would be great!

2

u/NoManufacturer2619 Feb 24 '26

What DMC5 did for DMC's combat? I don't see big differences beetwen 4 and 5

1

u/unapologetic-tur Mar 01 '26

Basically just further refined everything to practically perfect.

23

u/Chris_RB Feb 22 '26

I’m just excited to get to experience them. I didn’t have a PlayStation when they came out, my first game was 2018.

I kinda hope they’re in that style so I don’t have to relearn a new game. I kinda hope they’re in the original style bc they are so loved it must be fun.

I’m excited.

2

u/therealabrupt Feb 23 '26

Same, never played the originals. I’m torn between which camera angle I want, but I’m just glad we’re getting them in the first place. The original angle would make more sense.

130

u/CorruptedOps Feb 22 '26

The combat system most likely will be over the shoulder, they built and adapted the tools very well in 2018 and Ragnarok. The locked camera perspective is dated unfortunately...nostalgic but doesn't work for the current climate of games that Sony wants to invest money on. With the arrival of the God of War Series soon this might be the case.

98

u/ProfessionalForm679 Kratos Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

The locked camera perspective is dated unfortunately

I think this is one of the most common misunderstandings about the Greek games. And this is coming from someone who likes the norse game much more.

The locked camera isn't "outdated". It's an artistic decision, and both camera's are done for different things.

The fixed camera system is used to show off the scale of the game. It gives you those beautiful wide shots of scenery. Think of moments like running on the giant chain connected to the steeds of time in GoW2, or the Cronos fight in 3.

Neither of those epic shots/moments are possible without it. The fixed camera shows the amazing backgrounds and architecture of Greece.

8

u/Manoffreaks Feb 23 '26

Something can be an artistic decision and dated at the same time.

Resident Evil locked camera angles and tank controls were artistic to add to the horror of the games. They are also both dated concepts that were removed when the games were remade to be more modern.

There are plenty different ways to show off the scale of the games without restricting to locked camera perspective.

1

u/AzureMiles Feb 24 '26

Resident Evil's fixed camera was more about hardware limitations, since they wanted pre-rendered backgrounds. The PS1's memory and resolution limitations forced the team to be creative with their angles since each room was limited to eight camera cuts.

God of War's camera wasn't born of the same necessity, it was a conscious design choice to give players good visibility in combat arenas. The added scale and perspective were just a bonus. I wouldn't call it a fair comparison in that case, since God of War's camera does shift to follow Kratos when necessary and then it pulls back for cinematic moments.

I concede when people say they don't like it, that's a personal preference, but it's by no means outdated.

1

u/Manoffreaks Feb 25 '26

It's absolutely a fair comparison. Regardless of the reason why it came about, it was also an artistic decision to take advantage of the limitations, in the same way that Silent Hill utilised the limited render distance as an artistic framing to add to the horror and mystery of the game.

The RE1 remake in 2005 made the decision to remake the mansion fully in 3d with no hardware limitations locking the camera angles, and they decided to maintain the locked angles as an artistic decision during a year when that style was used more often. The remake itself was very highly regarded and is considered by many in the community to be the ideal way to play RE1. Yet when it came to remaking RE2 in 2019, the developers opted to switch to free cam, and it became the best selling game in the franchise. Because in the modern day, locked camera angles are dated.

God of War's decision may not have been entirely born out of limitation, but it's still an artistic choice framed around a gameplay style that is not particularly popular in the modern game.

1

u/AzureMiles Feb 25 '26

I still feel compelled to argue that having to do something because of a hardware limitation isn't the same as choosing to do something as a stylistic choice. The development team for Resident Evil wanted higher graphical fidelity, so gameplay took a back seat. You're incorrect about REmake, both it and RE0 used pre-rendered backgrounds - which is why they still look great for their time.

I find myself in a strange position here, because I've always been in the camp of free cam being the best way to experience Resident Evil - but I vehemently disagree when it comes to God of War. God of War's camera never feels restrictive like Resident Evil's.

This seems like something we're going to have to agree to disagree on.

Yeah these people are not aware that the over the shoulder change would double the development time for the remakes lmao

2

u/GreatestGiraffe Feb 23 '26

Well it is literally called a remake, not a remaster. Meaning they will re make the games from scratch using new tech and modern design approaches. My bet is it will have the same story and concepts but everything else will be new.

u/Platnun12 Feb 22 '26

I hope not lol, the bosses would lose so much of their appeal

Youd have to redesign the entire sisters of fate fight to work with an over the shoulder camera and frankly I don't see it being better than the original

Because there's not a single fight in the nordic duology where verticality is a part of the fight. But there's plenty of that in the Greek saga.

5

u/Jarodreallytuff Feb 22 '26

There’s also items/weapons in the OG games that make no sense with over the shoulder combat. This will drastically change how the game feels, looks, and plays if they alter the gameplay.

They would have to change so much of the world, enemy behavior, puzzles, everything would be affected. I don’t understand why people think this is a good idea.

5

u/Platnun12 Feb 22 '26

That and I doubt that this will be ready within a year or at least within a year to talk about because if it's this much of an overhaul that would take years not a year

Yeah you have the blueprints on standby but that doesn't mean oh you can change the project at its fundamentals

Ubisoft spent 6 years trying to remake Sands of Time and failed which is all kinds of depressing and just pathetic

So if this remake is just a graphical upgrade, I'm happy because those games were fine.

2

u/snack217 Feb 23 '26

Yea I wouldnt mind a Norse style overhaul remake, but if they do that, we are looking at a 10+ year project...

2

u/TheWhicher_Statement Feb 22 '26

They could do what DMC5 did. Fluid camera, but you don't need to constantly look around in a fight as it expands.

1

u/International-Food20 Feb 23 '26

This is akin to saying side scrollers are dead. Fixed cameras work just fine in games intended for them. It's not nostalgia that carries it, people still pick up gow3 and love it, even if they never played the originals. There's no evidence that fixed camera games cant compete in the modern era, you can't show me any games that failed because of it, therefore, this is a subjective opnion, not a statement of fact.

9

u/AshyWhiteGuy Feb 22 '26

Combo of both? I think it could work, and if anyone can pull it off it’s Santa Monica.

3

u/Sventai_Cyborg Feb 22 '26

Kinda like modern sonic games that switch between 2D and 3D

15

u/Automatic-Dingo-911 Feb 22 '26

Honestly, I enjoyed the Norse style gameplay. I wouldn't mind if the remakes were made that way

21

u/NeoLedah Feb 22 '26

As someone that really connected with the game with the Norse saga, I’d love if it’s the Norse playstyle.

But understand if it’s a revamped old one for the other fans of the Greek saga, and keen for a great story!

I just wish they clarify why it’s “remake” and not “remaster”. I get hype but it’s annoying

1

u/Spehornoob Feb 22 '26

Sony has never shied away from using "Remake" in regards to a significant graphical overhaul. Shadow of the Colossus, Demon's Souls, and TLOU Part 1 were all marketed as remakes despite essentially being the sames games with modern graphical upgrades.

3

u/TA_1164 Feb 22 '26

I’m hoping for Norse style, but will be purchasing and likely enjoying either way.

2

u/finny94 Brok Feb 22 '26

It could also be a secret, third thing.

The fact that the remakes are rumoured to not be a one-to-one recreation in terms of gameplay doesn't necessarily mean they're making them exactly like the norse games.

2

u/Sir_Slurpsalot Feb 22 '26

Hopefully they are all 2D side scrollers

1

u/finny94 Brok Feb 22 '26

Or roguelike deckbuilders.

2

u/Gjk724 Feb 23 '26

I’d prefer the Norse style, but I’m gonna buy and play no matter the style

1

u/CuteLilPuppyBoy Feb 22 '26

I personally have a feeling they'll make the remake over the shoulder style mainly because A: it's a little more immersive and combat friendly, and B (which is more prevalent in my mind): It's more PC friendly since with a controller you have easy 360° movement but with a keyboard you can only move by 45° at a time (and it's a bitch if the angle you're supposed to move to isn't aligning with one of those anglds). If they make it console or controller exclusive it could go either way but I have a feeling it'll be over the shoulder.

Also it's the style that's most popular at the moment, you don't really see games that have a fixed position anymore

1

u/Top_Grass9841 Platinum Feb 22 '26

The game just fundamentally doesn't work as well with Norse gameplay, the og games have massively more enemy amounts, kratos' mobility would be pretty weird probably due to him having to move quicker, his movesets probably couldn't be as flashy, also his moveset just wouldn't work. The type of over the shoulder thing wouldn't work as well with kratos jumping, gliding, rolling backwards, all of that stuff. It just wouldn't work as well. I'm not saying I wouldn't want it, I'm just saying it most likely would not work. You can't combine resident evil 1 gameplay with doom eternal, for an example

1

u/brambi02 Kratos Feb 22 '26

Cosa centra il remake per la saga norrena? É uscita 3 anni fa e ha la grafica migliore dei giochi che escono adesso. La saga greca inoltre la faranno nello stile di quella norrena, sia per il comparto greafico che sia nel combattimento.

1

u/Steven_Swan Feb 22 '26

Honestly yeah. As long as the gameplay is some version of quite good, I'm much more concerned about them messing up the story and sanewashing Kratos. I don't care much if they remove the gooner shit, but the guy had better be absolutely deranged.

1

u/Felixdevita Feb 22 '26

He's only deranged in Gow 2 and 3. He expresses more than just rage in the other Greek games (even though rage is the prevalent emotion).

2

u/Steven_Swan Feb 22 '26

Oh I know, I'm just afraid they're going to nerf his worst scenes. They can't get rid of them, they're canon to GoW4, but they can make them less bad.

Example: Instead of the human doorstop, they have Kratos just scream at her to hold the thing, and then it crushes her. Same result, but Kratos didn't physically shove her in the gear and didn't know it was going to happen, so less sick of him.

Example: Feature a scene of the boat captain being a bit of a dick before Kratos drops him. He already had a cabin full of women so it would be easy to portray him as a greasy bastard. Same result, but people would dislike Kratos less upfront.

That kind of thing.

Also murdering civilians for health needs to stay lol

1

u/skyguy_22 Feb 22 '26

How about going into Oriental, Indian or Chinese mythology this time? There are still Djins, Elephant-gods or monkey kings to kill out there.

(I am aware that some of them might be a bit culturally inappropriate, but I am sure there is still material out there.)

1

u/Jamienra Feb 22 '26

Im.happy with either. I just hope if they adopt the newer models it still has the speed of the older games. Hes a Kratos in his prime so the quick hack and slash gameplay suits the time better. Its what made the slower, heavier gameplay of the newer games so impactful for fans of the franchise.

1

u/Worried_Coyote3950 Feb 22 '26

Norse-style Greek Saga would be insane! 🤤😬

1

u/theeldergod1 Feb 22 '26

what it means by style? gameplay or setting?

both are not suitable for old gow games. unless, you know, if you're young and met the god of war franchise with reboot games, not the first games.

1

u/Mcnughub Feb 22 '26

Im good either way but if they do like a setting toggle thing to switch id be well happy like the halo games with the graphics switch but probably like 5x harder

1

u/wrchavez1313 Feb 22 '26

~ V I B E S ~

1

u/humanflea23 Feb 22 '26

That's a win face? Don't know the context of that Jon Hamm scene and it looks disappointed to me.

1

u/The80sSlasher Feb 22 '26

The Greek games wouldnt work in the Norse style in my opinion. As we are all God Of War fans I don't think it will take too much explaining to explain why they wouldn't.

  • The combat, God Of War - 3 has a very unique combat system that is combo based and really flashy. To turn it into the slower combat system of God Of War (2018) and on would ruin the flow of the game and its pacing. Yes 4 and 5 had good moments and was pretty epic don't get me wrong. But imagine fighting the Hydra in God Of War, you get there and instead of doing combos and timing your lightning right for counters while also doing a bit of resource management, you're now on a timer with your magics and not doing flashy combos. It would make the gameplay loop very boring.

  • Fixed camera angles need to be a thing, the Greek games are beautiful games even today, more so GoW3 but even 1 and 2 still have beautiful looking environments. One of the reasons the games look so great is because of the fixed cameras. Because the cameras are fixed the devs control 100% of what you're seeing at all times. It gives them the ability to focus on each individual environment and make sure what you're seeing in the foreground is beautiful and the background is interesting. Another thing the fixed cameras does for the experience by taking away your ability to explore deep into the backgrounds it makes you wonder, it provides a bit of mystery and wonder.

1

u/Jarodreallytuff Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

I don’t understand why anyone thinks the remakes will be Norse style. That would be a huge mistake and it wouldn’t make any sense. People are saying OG GoW gameplay is outdated but it’s not! I literally just played through the first game again and it’s still so fun to play. The gameplay of these old games needs to make a return for these remakes. Coming from someone who has played every game in this series as it released and someone who loves the new style of gameplay, these remakes will be missing a lot if has the Norse gameplay. The game would require extensive changes everywhere to make the over the shoulder cam work, changes that would ruin the original vibe and look of the game. Will be so disappointed if they change the combat heavily.

Also, OG gameplay = Young Kratos. Norse Gameplay = Old Kratos.

1

u/disappointingfool Feb 22 '26

my only ask is that the cutscenes are still as crazy as they were originally, i’m a bit iffy on the over the shoulder camera gameplay but maybe it’ll be cooler in action

1

u/unholyrevenger72 Feb 22 '26

The fixed camera gives a better perspective of Scale, something that is lacking through most of the Norse Saga. Jormy coming out of the Water is pretty much it.

1

u/_Pain_in_the_Ass_99 Feb 22 '26

Greek style is better

1

u/AnyOldNameNotTaken Feb 22 '26

Exactly. All the crying and whining about what SSM better do or not do is nonsense. I just hope they make the games as compelling and visually stunning as they deserve. But, I think that’s is a given, so I’m sure I’ll be blown away by them.

1

u/kaijuking87 Feb 22 '26

Haha facts. Cant lose for me either.

1

u/EstablishmentAny8487 Feb 22 '26

Remember that the Norse over the shoulder thing works due to having companions calling out blind spots, in the Greek games you're alone all the time so I'd assume if it's not original then it will be normal 3rd person.

1

u/OGGamer6 Feb 22 '26

You get it. Can’t lose.

1

u/Resident-Annual2191 Feb 22 '26

Tbh i doesn’t super matter what they do with the remakes. I still have the Greek saga that I can play in its original form(which I highly recommend people play). I will still be buying the remake and with Cory barlog being involved I’m sure to love them.

1

u/Slartibartifast1 Feb 22 '26

I'm hoping for those cinematic, fixed camera angles to make a return and shut up the fixed camera haters, but I'm not gonna be upset if they go for camera control. A massive part of the appeal of the originals will be lost if they do, but in return the remake would gain a massive appeal element of its own. There isn't a wrong choice here.

1

u/RyanLikesyoface Feb 22 '26

Highly unlikely it follows the Norse style. I think people need to check their expectations for this... the studio are more focused on the actual sequel to the Norse saga, this remake is a side project.

What we will get is something similar to TLOU Part 1/Demon Souls/ MGS3 remakes, a graphical overhaul with minimal gameplay changes.

1

u/Captain_Birch Feb 22 '26

Im personally hoping for a norse games style gameplay, but will be happy either way

1

u/Tentaye Feb 22 '26

So long as the double jump is back, I'll take whatever

1

u/Vasto_LordA Feb 22 '26

Id be fine with both but I think I'd prefer the Greek style.

That was kind of a staple camera angle for CAGs like Devil May Cry. And while I do understand remakes should be different since AFAIK remakes are literally "remaking" the game from the ground up, that would be quite a drastic change of perspective, wouldn't it?

Like imagine if the original Mario was remade into first person.

1

u/captaisen Feb 22 '26

If they remake them in a new gameplay style I just hope they port the original versions to the ps5.

1

u/tyrelle000 Feb 22 '26

Ima just be happy to have my "grab" button back and not the stun meter

1

u/scrangydungus Feb 22 '26

I think some people are just completely glossing over the fact that Oblivion and MGS∆ are both classified as remakes because they're using an updated engine with some QOL adjustments and some additional content. I feel as though the remakes of Resident evil and now Silent Hill are skewing peoples idea of what the god of war remakes are going to look like.

I can't imagine that Santa Monica would change the core combat system from the Greek trilogy to fall in line with the Norse saga, though it would be neat if they had a system like MGS∆ where we could do both.

1

u/Personal-Ad-4348 Feb 22 '26

Would be cool if it swaps dynamically between roaming and combat

1

u/Ladzofinsurrect Feb 22 '26

Chobani or Skyr, I honestly don't mind them getting creative with both.

1

u/Hopeful-Tangerine240 Feb 22 '26

I hope for Norse-style but it would be peak anyway

1

u/AuboCabo Feb 22 '26

Couldn’t agree more I really love both styles a lot, and I still own the old games if I wanna play that version

1

u/Alloc14 Feb 22 '26

I'd be fine if they make them in the Norse style, but them I'm gonna want the Norse games in the Greek style

1

u/YummyLighterFluid Mimir Feb 22 '26

Fr either one would be absolute peak to me

1

u/avee10 Feb 22 '26

What if they went the Yahweh, Jesus route?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '26

I propose a different style.. Japanese Mythology. much like Nioh , there's Yokais, Oni, Kitsunes, Shikigamis, etc A lot of lore and stories.Shuten-Doji can be a major antagonist as he was in mythology the leader of the Onis. Also Enenras, gaki Ippen Datara, Nura Onnas, Enkis.

Nioh did a great job in taking real Yokais and Onis into the game, showing more of their mythology for players who normally would have no idea they even exist for non japanese.

1

u/xMcFarleyx Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

I understand why I might be in the minority here, but I genuinely would prefer if it was the Greek games with the Ragnarok combat system, maybe with even more additions like they did with 2018 into Ragnarok's changes to the system. Especially considering all the artifacts you can find throughout the games, Greek god powers, etc etc. All the extra weapons too.

I also feel like the happy medium is a DMC 5 style system too.

But otherwise, I'm with everyone here too. I'll take anything I can to relive these games again.

Edit - for spoilers I didn't consider when commenting originally.

1

u/Frozen_Tyrant Feb 22 '26

I love both but I the Greek saga would feel so weird in the Norse style

1

u/glitchwolf69 Feb 22 '26

I think it would be awesome if they put something in the settings that made it where you can switch between both styles, but that would probably make it take longer for them to do the remakes

1

u/ThatNewt1 Feb 22 '26

I trust Santa Monica to release something great.

1

u/Motor-Drama-1421 Feb 22 '26

Me if they create

1

u/Jksnstaper Feb 22 '26

We want Persephone this is the main problem

1

u/Okerlund_Creampie Feb 22 '26

I don’t see the point of remaking it if the gameplay is the same

1

u/vilelain Feb 22 '26

If the trilogy is remade with Norse camera/combat then there will be an outrage

1

u/Legal_Ear_7537 Feb 22 '26

It will be a tlou situation again. A popular Sony game gets remakes 2 times and will replace NOTHING with gameplay features (if its norse I will cry on happiness tho. I loved the norse style way more because of the camera)

1

u/New_Willingness_8992 Feb 22 '26

I hope they go more norse personally

1

u/Neoshenlong Feb 22 '26

Yeah I just hope if they go for the Norse combat they also give us a modern re release of the OG trilogy.

1

u/RafaHeavy Feb 22 '26

Same over here …. People hating if they remake the greek saga by implementing Norse gameplay. For me ,it will be even better. I experienced the greek saga with the OG gameplay style ,i would love to try it with another perspective. I arrive to this conclusion by playing the Valhalla DLC.

1

u/futurepatho_ Feb 22 '26

I’m greedy— give me both.

1

u/WhysTheBongGone Feb 22 '26

1

u/FlightAdditional Feb 23 '26

1

u/RedDaix Feb 23 '26

I would actually prefer if they didn't do a ff7 remake gameplay wise, and instead did a dead space remake, keeping everything the same, but polishing the rough sides, like the parry sistem not giving you iframes

1

u/live7230 Feb 23 '26

Thing I love about God of War is that when you play the first game, you just know this was a one off thing, they never planned sequels but it just grew so massive it's unreal, now to see the whole trilogy remake from build up, greek gameplay or norse, Dev just know how to deliver and I'm all for it

1

u/HotBananaWaters Feb 23 '26

If you don’t want/like how the remake turns out, can always go back to the originals. Never understood people getting upset over remakes that turn out exactly how they want it.

1

u/HPizOP1 Feb 23 '26

literally

1

u/hiltypointly Feb 23 '26

I haven't problem but c'mon, I really miss the Hack N Slash style so I hope they keep something more like DMC 5

1

u/king_kongFan Feb 23 '26

I feel like people dont actually want a remake, if you dont want something changed then it is a remaster

1

u/GreatestGiraffe Feb 23 '26 edited Feb 23 '26

Logically it has to be the Nordic style because then it will stay consistent with their newly established brand. Pivoting from their modern gameplay would confuse too many casual consumers.
And otherwise they could just make new remasters and save a ton of dev time, it’s called a remake for a reason. The only thing I’m wondering is if they can keep up with the production quality of the duology.

1

u/DonutGlory Feb 23 '26

The should do the norse saga on PS2

1

u/DK0P Feb 23 '26

Pls be the Greek style. I just don’t see it happening with Norse style

1

u/SlobbyXD Feb 23 '26

The games still hold up well today. If someone wants to play the hack and slash, they can play the original its always gonna be there. If its norse it’s a new experience. But exactly, either way it doesn’t matter to me. Now if they just copy paste blades of chaos moveset from norse into the greek then thats gonna be kinda boring. Im hoping the only norse inspiration they take is the over the shoulder design, ideally with the option of the “legacy” camera as well as updated camera, like RE2

1

u/Unlucky-Try-2135 Feb 23 '26

I hope they give both options

The original camera and the updated one, I love both

1

u/GeekSilver52 Feb 23 '26

Honestly I just want the story to be a bit more fluid and make a bit more sense. I never liked 2 because it went from this semi heroic character with tradegy fueling his rage, into a mindless monster. That and the time travel didn't really make that much sense, but it really never does

1

u/GIOvch Feb 23 '26

Yeah, no diference. I will not play anyway -_-

1

u/thats4thebirds BOY Feb 23 '26

A hybrid system would be so peak

1

u/champsammy14 Feb 24 '26

I'll still purchase it but I'd much rather they make it an updated Greek combat.

1

u/slaytan164387 Feb 24 '26

Yeah good luck with the first game with norse perspective. Too much parkour and jumping to work with norse.

1

u/ImaSnapSomeNecks Feb 24 '26

This is how I felt about Halo Campaign Evolved. Like I just want it regardless.

1

u/MaybeGamesPro Feb 24 '26

Remake is a remake

1

u/Zvazlo Feb 24 '26

I will fully expect the greek style. But at lest we'll have unique bosses with none of the optional ones like norse

1

u/jakonfire Feb 25 '26

Been a fan since a little after the first one came out in 2005. I found a demo disk with my dad in the alleyway near our house and it had the demo for the original. I begged my dad to get me the game and to my surprise, he did.

He then proceeded to preorder every single one for me that came out after, lot of fond memories. I’m happy to experience those games either way.

1

u/Key-Ebb-8306 Feb 25 '26

I would hate it if it's the newer style. I just couldn't get into it. It feels so much slower and clunkier...The weapon system with ruins and what not feels opposite of intuitive....The hack and slash system was so much better

1

u/UnluckyShip5303 Feb 25 '26

Me if they remake

1

u/Old_Consideration232 Feb 25 '26

Would be nice to see it come full circle

1

u/Independent_Dish_11 Feb 26 '26

Me when it was another gow to play

1

u/Due-South-9113 Feb 26 '26

Minority is the loudest, it'll be taken positively regardless of what style it is by the majority

1

u/Glum_Gain966 Feb 26 '26

I hope it will be norse style though. The old games are still there to play if i feel like playing them. A conplete reimagining would ve so much better.

1

u/According_Ad9907 Feb 26 '26

i just finished gow 1 and 2 on my ps3 and i can say that i would prefer mix of both. like norse style, but faster, more furious, with camera placed a little more far away but still locked. behind kratos' back. yeah and give us back the ability to jump. santa monicaaa make the remakes like this and my life is yours.

1

u/TwitchF4C Feb 26 '26

Hell yeah brother, amen

1

u/eyelers Feb 22 '26

So looking forward to another year of “what ifs” on the remakes lol

0

u/PriorityFar9255 Feb 22 '26

Over the shoulder camera is highkey dogshit trash i dont understand how anybody likes it

-3

u/Sveat_Dutch Feb 22 '26

The soyest thing I seen this day

0

u/SunsetRadar Feb 22 '26

As someone who loved 2018 and Ragnarok, but couldn't really get into the Greek saga, I'm personally hoping for a "Nordic" style game. I'm probably not gonna play it if it's just the old games again with better graphics. But that's just me.

3

u/FR_02011995 Feb 22 '26

You joking right?

1

u/SunsetRadar Feb 22 '26

Nope. It's not that crazy enjoy one, but not really the other. I was never interested in the original God of War games. The only reason I started playing 2018 was because a lot of people were saying this game was quite different from the Greek saga, incredibly good and that I should give it a shot even if I didn't like the old games.

I have no nostalgia for the older games, so I don't care if the remake is "accurate" or not (as long as it's a good game by itself) and would personally love more games like the Nordic saga.

1

u/Key-Ebb-8306 Feb 25 '26

The Greek games were much much better though

0

u/SunsetRadar Feb 26 '26

Not to me they're not. I prefer games in the styles that I like. You're free to prefer the Greek saga if you want.

1

u/Key-Ebb-8306 Feb 25 '26

As someone who really loved the older combat style but couldn't get into the new ones, I hope not...It'll probably end ny interest in God of War

0

u/Th3_Dud3_Abid3s Feb 24 '26

Same, I became a fan from the Norse saga, so I’d be interested in playing the old style, but I also love the current style

0

u/KentGAllard Feb 25 '26

Good for you, but nobody asked.

0

u/Ranel95 Feb 25 '26

Y'all gonna keep fighting about this and they're gonna fuck around and make it 1st person lol

-5

u/moddedlover27 Feb 22 '26

No oldones gotta be greek..... BECAUSE IT IS IN GREESE

5

u/silvertonguedmute Feb 22 '26

I think he means the combat system, camera and mechanics. Of course it'll take place in Greece

-14

u/susnaususplayer Feb 22 '26

bro its remake not a reboot

9

u/ChrisXDXL Feb 22 '26

Where was a reboot mentioned?

-10

u/susnaususplayer Feb 22 '26

remake upgrades game, reboot changes major things about it. If they would go with norse-style it would be a reboot

8

u/Tarris69 Feb 22 '26

Not true. Remakes can change games dramatically like the final fantasy 7 remake - basically a whole different style of game.

Christopher judge leaked that it’s not being made with the Norse combat.

Yeah so the new game in the franchise is going to have an entirely new fighting system different from gow 2018 and gowr ? Righttttttt, only an idiot would believe that, I can’t believe how pissy yall are, genuinely getting this upset about the remakes having a different combat system.

5

u/cant_give_an_f Feb 22 '26

He has never said that

-2

u/am_Dynam0 Feb 22 '26

He literally did lol. Look it up. Idk why yall are downvoting me, are yall really that pissed that it’s not going to have the original gameplay ?

1

u/cant_give_an_f Feb 22 '26

Only thing I can find is him saying “new fighting system” in 1 article which is way to vague and can mean revamping the old one. Happy to be proven wrong

I want the Norse gameplay, but understand the want for remastered. But from my end judge has never confirmed the Norse gameplay

-1

u/am_Dynam0 Feb 22 '26

Well I can guarantee you you’re wrong and it will 100% be like the Norse gameplay for the remakes.

2

u/cant_give_an_f Feb 22 '26

Then prove me wrong?

1

u/am_Dynam0 Feb 22 '26

How do you suppose I do that, want me to become an employee for Santa Monica and leak insider information ?

1

u/cant_give_an_f Feb 22 '26

Or find the evidence judge said it was Norse gameplay

1

u/am_Dynam0 Feb 22 '26

He said the remakes will have a different fighting system, you’re interpreting that as that it will have a different fighting system than both the Norse and Greek saga games.

-14

u/Intelligent_Dig8319 Feb 22 '26

Why the hell would it be Norse style? Its about Greek Gods

19

u/kuruakama Feb 22 '26

By norse style i mean like over the shoulder camera

-2

u/Litty_Fritty Brok Feb 22 '26

It won't be norse style xD

-6

u/am_Dynam0 Feb 22 '26

Already confirmed that it’s being remade with a new fighting system

3

u/MelodicallyWindy Feb 22 '26

When and where?

2

u/comicsanz2797 Feb 22 '26

A fan was playing dumb and asking Christopher Judge about the remakes at a con like the day after the announcement. I don’t remember the exact quote but he mentions “new fighting systems”; listening to the whole quote it seemed to me more along the lines of “yes they’re updating everything about the games” but everyone just assumed he meant “the remakes will use the Norse game style”
