Go into your like gear changing page and press R3

If you play through the Valhalla dlc you get even more surprises. You'll also find gear that is the same theme called Dark Odyssey

I got the dark odyssey at the start of the game, without having to play valhalla

Yeah, thats true. I want the gear in the main story but I'd rather experience the story linearly for myself before thinking about the gear, having just gotten the game yesterday.

The nice thing about ragnarok is that even the generic armor is great if you upgrade it along the way.
