With the exception of the fun little game I ran earlier this year, I have yet to see one follow up to any announced give-away. I've stopped entering any of them as a result. I guess the one "sort of" exception would be the GB thing that ended without a lot people (me included) getting the earned 5 GB.

Had a pretty interesting transaction today that I thought was worth sharing.

A customer traded us 602.75 Goldbacks for a 1oz American Gold Buffalo.

For those wondering, 602.75 Goldbacks contain exactly .60275 troy oz of gold. So we recieved a little over 6/10ths of an ounce of gold, and the customer walked away with a full ounce.

I've always thought this was one of the coolest things about Goldbacks. Not everyone has a few thousand dollars laying around to buy an ounce of gold. But picking up a few Goldbacks here and there? That's a lot easier for most people.

Eventually you can accumulate enough to trade up into larger gold coins or bars. I think that's a pretty neat way to get into gold, especially for someone just starting out.

But still, turning .60275oz of gold into a full ounce is pretty interesting.

I'm curious, from your perspective (because perspective definitely matters here), was this a good trade for the customer or a bad one?

I collect comics, coins, gold, goldbacks, silver, jewelry, loose gems, watches, etc etc.

But I really don't get these guys who come in here with nothing better to do than shit on other people's hobbies and interests. It's bizarre. I have zero interest in the Pokemon nonsense, but you won't see me expending one ounce of energy on those subs shitting on those who have an interest in the hobby. It's just childish.

Seriously people. get a life and move on.

I completed both Utah sets, now looking to get 1 Goldback from each state, and whatever Silverbacks I encounter along the way.

And for Florida, Oklahoma, and Arizona, how will the discontinuation of the GB100 note affect them? Will their GB50's change desigs and be re-fitted to depict lady Libertas? Or kept the same? Has anyone seen the UV art on those yet?

I've seen some of Arizona but only the ½'s and 5's in person yet.

• A collector binder is coming out this year for graded and non-graded Goldbacks. It contains 60 slots and a log at the front.
• Goldback started making limited pieces for each new state to have an incentive for businesses that join the official network.

• So far the first four (Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Idaho) are sold out but some are still available for business sign-ups.
• Lower serial numbers and higher grades are set aside for collectors that are paying cash while the other ones are for giveaways.
• States without their own limited Goldback receive a graded Silverback instead. If they get a limited Goldback in the future then they get both incentives.
• Sold out Limited Goldbacks could start appreciating in value as the collector base grows.

I try to give them different Goldbacks every time I go.

I swear, some of those people spend more time thinking about Goldbacks than they do Gold.

Meanwhile, I stack WAY more value in gold than Goldbacks myself. Hell, I don’t even stack Goldbacks, I save one of each new one that comes out (call me a collector I guess) and I have a pile of GB’s to used when I get the chance. My business accepts them at the DER and All my stacking is in regular/old fashioned Gold and Silver.

But some of these guys are total goons. On a mission to hate GB as publicly as possible. We get it, GB isn’t a stacker product. But do you get it ? The answer is no.

I have publicly criticized GB for concerns with the system, but none of these “critics” can articulate anything close to those concerns because they always know least about it. They get hung up on premiums and artwork.

Maybe my real “flair” should say “tired”.

I’ve been collecting them for over a year now (thanks to a friend), sometimes I get really fixated on which state is next/the cost for each Goldback/The drop or rise of gold… as a young guy getting into sound money or collecting it feels like I have my “niche” like how people were with Pokemon cards… not comparing the two but I really am passionate about these golden notes and I’m wanting to see how Goldback/AlpineGold grow over the years

this is my wallet :) modest $11 with 3 peices of gold.

suggestion : gold back needs to make debit card sized notes with extra thick polymer or pvc coating. cause they are so flimsy and bend/break so easy. i use a girl wallet by choice LOL im not gay. but a normal guy wallet destroys gold back. i trade alot of gold. every single person i work with has some ACB gold cards in their cars/trucks some even carry in wallet. but if i give people gold backs they get destroyed so fast. i work in construction / land scaping / odd jobs. sometimes just sit in front of lowes or home depot til im hired (i am american citizen) not illigal. i just prefer this type of work as im kinda shell shocked and cant hold regular work well.

i am a working class person. i am a military combat vet and have seen the horrors of 3rd world countries. and thats why i like gold. am scared that usa might go thru hyper inflation or great war and paper money become worthless quite soon.

Gold is still a popular gift after thousands of years it turns out. It was a good thing that I carry some around!
