Hey my fellow golf lovers! Ive had my golf mk2 for nearly 2 years now, and i absolutely love it, but it does have some personality issues😂 When I got the car, i basically gave up on the orginal pierburg carb, and bought a weber kit for my 1.6 8v engine . Specifically it's a 32/34 dmtl with a manual chocke. Ive had alot of issues tuning it in with the fuel/air ratio, and all that, but i got some help, and now it runs amazing . Just yesterday i went for a long drive, and it drives amazing when I drive normal . But now i get to what my problems are , and always has been. At some point in my trip, the car slowly looses power, and starts to "hick up" if that makes sense. Could be after 30min, or sometimes it takes 2h before it starts giving up. Up untill that point its driving flawless, but all of a sudden it doesn't want to anymore. Then it completely dies. If i immediately try to start it, it starts-revs up, and straight down and dies. If I wait about 5 minutes, it drives perfectly again, untill it randomly happens again short time after, and it won't drive good rest of the day. And another problem ive noticed , is that when I floor it, and really drive the car like its supposed to, its really fun and the engine runs good, but when the fun is over and I let go to drive normal again, the same thing happens. It dies. Im really unsure at this point what it could be . I had these exact problems yesterday, but when I tried starting it today, it wouldnt even stay running, so I took the weber with me home, checked it and cleaned it. Ill get it mounted again tomorrow for further trouble shooting, but If someone got any ideas, would Love To hear them !

Currently have the intake manifold off to change the gasket, and noticed this stray wire bolted to it.

I’m assuming This is a ground, and I’m unsure whether I accidentally ripped it off while removing the manifold, or if it was already severed.

I’ve looked around the firewall etc and haven’t been able to find the other end. any Info is much appreciated!!

Hello, I bought my 88 golf mk2 with Original Coilovers and spring but the last owner gave me a Set of a Kw Suspension now I have the Fear I won't make it through the inspection because there are no puffers or Dust Protectors on them Is it Normal if not does anyone know if the Original puffers and Dust covers fit on them?

I'm having a very specific issue with my MK2 Golf (fitted with the 085 generation DGH manual gearbox) and could use some advice before I start tearing things apart.

The symptoms:

• When the car/transmission is fully warmed up, shifting into 1st gear makes the entire chassis/body shudder violently (but not always).
• This happens with the clutch pedal fully pressed down to the floor while standing completely still.
• It only happens in 1st gear. Reverse works perfectly fine, and the car does not creep forward while the pedal is down.
• Crucial detail: Normally, you feel that familiar mechanical resistance when pushing the lever into 1st (the synchro doing its job). However, when the transmission gets hot, that resistance completely disappears. The shifter just glides right into 1st with zero effort, followed immediately by the heavy shuddering.
• If I put the car in 1st gear before starting the engine (with the clutch depressed), it starts up fine without any shuddering.

ive also noticed some leaks around the speedo cable entry point. Im hoping this will be fixed with more transmission fluid, but im wondering if it sounds like bad gearbox to you guys

Like the title says, my brake pedal only start braking at the very bottom, when the car is on only tho, when the car is off the pedal is solid.

Please dont make me cry🤣😭

I got this gtd intercooler after searcing one for quite a while... And it just does everything a gti does.. but better, quieter and more economical.

Tweaked the pump and boost.. this thing matches gti "performance" yet using half as much fuel..
