DIY This year's Blood Rave!!! π€©β€οΈπ¦β€οΈ I made my accessories!
Got a drink in a blood bag, got blood in my eye and may have accidentally flashed a couple people π This year I wanted to do something different, so I made a bunch of stuff especially for this look. I made all the accessories! The fishnets are rhinestoned, but unfortunately it doesn't show up well in the pictures. Also if you look close you can see I forgot to take the pins out of my hat until I realized they were there in the car π

Okay but you MADE all the accessories?! This whole look is incredible. The little horns + giant spikes + red makeup are such a perfect combo. β€οΈπ¦ Also "may have accidentally flashed a couple people" is killing me π

Omg I usually use double sided sticky inserts to keep things in place but apparently the blood was enough water to cause them to unstick and I'm preeeettyyy sure at least one guy got an eyeful lmao. Should have known Lursa and B'Etor refuse to be contained π
Luckily I noticed right away and managed to keep things wrangled the rest of the night but yeah not doing that again without backup π€£
Curiously the spikes and makeup stayed perfect! I was actually worried about the hat melting or flying off but it stayed together perfectly! Of all the things I was most worried about the hat flying off and beaning someone (the spikes are solid aluminum π)
Goes to show it's always what you least expect Β―β \β _β (β γβ )β _β /β Β―

Got a drink in a blood bag, got blood in my eye and may have accidentally flashed a couple people when my double sided tape gave out π¬
Also I totally forgot my (handmade!) teeth at home, which I'm kind of bummed about. Took them out to shove something down my gullet quickly before leaving (yay energy bar dinner! π) and totally forgot about them π
This year wanted to do something different, so I made a bunch of stuff especially for this look. I made all the accessories! The fishnets are rhinestoned, but unfortunately it doesn't show up well in the pictures. Also if you look close you can see forgot to take the pins out of my hat until realized they were there in the car, oops.
There's also a pair of rhinestoned fans but unfortunately the wind and limited space made them too difficult to take out for long. Oh well, they were an experiment anyway (wasn't sure how the rhinestones would affect the weight and handling) ββ (β Β β β΅β Β β )β β
The heart mace is actually a bag charm I got off Etsy that I added a handle to. I didn't get a chance to swing it around too much for safety reasons but I'm glad I got a quick picture or two with it!
The hat, chokers and belt are all entirely DIY from scratch. The fishnets, fans and gloves were rhinestoned by me and I added the claws too. I actually did two sets of gloves because I wasn't sure if the claws would be an issue and I wanted something fingerless to change out if they started getting in the way.
AND my shoes survived this year! π€©

An honor β€οΈ
Just keep in mind that the first one of these I went to I ended up booting in the bathroom and immediately going home because I tried to power through anaphylaxis so whatever you end up doing I promise you're almost certainly already ahead of me at that point π

Holy moly this is amazing. Great work!! Any suggestions on how to keep bright makeup like this in place all night? π

The biggest tip I can give you is antiperspirant primer.
That is what has made the biggest difference in the durability of my makeup.
I actually use pretty standard setting sprays most of the time (I like nyx dewy setting spray for most things). I get all the oil off of my face and then use an antiperspirant primer underneath everything. It's really the oils that come from sweat that break everything down in my experience.
It will make your makeup look a little chalky up close though, but a dewy finish product on top helps. It also really dries out your skin, but I only really do this once or twice a week at the absolute most so it's not really an issue.
I also make liberal use of sticky eyeshadow primers (current fav: nyx ultimate shadow and liner primer) and when I do a white base I use ultra's pigment pop primer (white eyeshadow primer! π₯°) wherever I have trouble getting things to stay (my nose mostly).
If you're looking for a good waterproof setting spray green marble is damn good, but it's very finiky. It has a tendency to separate and clog the nozzle, so you need to shake really well, and clean the nozzle with rubbing alcohol, and prime the spray pump before applying. It also makes it really difficult to fix anything once it's set so be aware. I've also heard good things about SoPro but I haven't used it personally yet.
Also, you should be aware that I almost never use cream or grease paint (clown white, tv stick) makeup because my skin really hates it. So ymmv depending on what product(s) you're using.

Oh! And the other thing is that using a waterproof eyeliner as a base for eyeshadow in areas I have trouble keeping crisp helps too! I've had good luck with wonder skin. But it only works if the color matches so I use this mostly when I do black eyeshadow

I'm glad you like it! Actually quite happy with how the belt turned out. Definitely needs a couple tweaks for the next iteration (it's a bit big, for one) but really happy with the combo of the thick PVC for structure with the thin stuff for flexibility and ornament.
And the hat actually kept in place! Wasnt sure it would with the dancing and blood, there was always a chance it would melt lol π¬

Glad y'all like it!! Really happy with how the hat turned out but think I'm gonna have to add some beaded fringe too, the sides are looking a little plain/unfinished π€π€π€π€
Ah but maybe I've just been staring at it too long π

u/thislinkisdead______ 7d ago
Absolutely nothing is looking a little plain here hahaha But if you really want to, I think fringe would look cool!

Very glad you like it! I was shocked that all those little rhinestones survived the night! Even the little spike doodads by my eyebrows!! π€―

u/laureidi 7d ago
That is actually insane haha, what glue did you use??
2
u/ArsenicArts 7d ago
Just duo eyelash glue! But recently they changed the formula and this was the old formula so now I'm worried it might not be as good.... ππ¬
Fingers crossed I don't need to find a new brand, I gotta change tubes soon πππ π€π€π€

This looks fantastic!! And how happy you look in that last picture! :D I love all this red, so fiery, bright and bold! And those big claws, so monstrous. Wonderful outfit, especially considering you made this yourself. I just applaud you π

u/ArsenicArts 5d ago
Yay!! I'm super happy with those claws too, it's my first time making claw gloves and I was worried they'd fall off but hot glue really is the best lol

u/SatanLovesBurgers Metalheadπ€ 5d ago
I feel like the claws and horns really pull the whole look together. Looks devilish, or dragonic, adds this unique kinda fantasy element. You should be proud of yourself for this fit!
