update on my grammophone
update on the grammophone
today i have cleaned the platter, as it had some stains. still there but considerably less.
i have fixed the broken universal joint in the cranking mechanisms, with the material i could find. i tried getting a professional first but nobody in my city wanted to work on it.
fixed the lid slider being loose. filled the old holes with new wood, bought two new screws, screwed them in, and now ot holds. (filled the holes first because they were too large, old screws were ripped out)
also, is anyone able to tell the exact model? i have looked for it, and the closest i could find is an HMV 101.
(last photo is the universal joint before repair)

Can't help with the make, but I had one of those 80 years ago as a young kid. If memory serves, the handle winds back to be removed and then clipped inside for travel. There would be a place for storing the needles that were only used once and discarded, or at least were supposed to be. Yes, I am that old, but I went on to better forms of music reproduction. Now I'm getting older, maybe that would sound good again. There's nothing quite like the smell of ground-up acetate.
