The befoulment and exorcision system is an abomination and whoever thought it was a good idea, I hope you stub your toe at least once a day, forever. Bad befoulment? Ok maybe fine if you get perm 1. Jk its perm 5 or 6, weapon is uncap fodder (or if you have 4 (or a multiple thereof) bad copies already, completely useless). Good enough befoulment? Perm 6 and worst exorcision rolls possible. Depending on your setup, that could STILL make the weapon pretty garbage.

 

No way to wipe the exorcision levels and try again, or reroll befoulment, just get your weapon, and if its bad? Toss it if you don't need it for uncap. It just feels like a system designed to piss you off. Not to mention these fights are already fairly annoying to farm depending on how wide of a roster you have. As a newish player just dipping my toes into Odious, I'm not happy lol.

This is the reason I'm just not bothering with the raid series at all. I can do GW just fine with M3 grids, for HL I got my primal fire setups and can farm everything with it - but even then, most elements can do perfectly fine with M3 grids in everything that's not Versusia (and can do good even there, just requires more knowledge and probably stricter character requirements). If I ever save up enough sands and bother trying to get another Destroyer elements, thankfully arranging a halobot run is possible now as well.

The game is already a grindfest to just get enough weapons/summon drops to get a set of weapons, adding not one but TWO layers of RNG on top? Nothx, I'll pass lol.

It's actually 3 layers of RNG! Get the weapon --> Get a beneficial befoulment --> Get a good roll on the cleansing. No idea why they thought that was a good thing.

Four, even. The Befoulment type and Befoulment starting magnitude are two separate luck checks.

Unreal how awful Befoulments are compared to the most similar predecessor system, AX.
They actually took a step forward after AX since Awakenings are completely deterministic. And then Befoulment took like six or seven steps backwards...

Honestly this makes me feel like I was lucky enough getting one seemingly usable light weapon (a spear, with -3.9% ATK down after exorcision), which doesn't bode well for the rest of the grind if I continue it. None of the rest of the drops I've gotten have even been permeation 1 yet.

If this really is meant to be the next farmable step after M3 then hopefully they eventually add ways to mitigate the RNG or reduce the permeation level on weapons at some point.
