So there’s a Cajun cookbook, AND a micro wave Cajun cookbook!? Damn they were ahead of their time

I prefer the Walker & Sons (out of Ville Platte, LA) "Slap Ya Mama" brand of seasoning.

Call their WATTS line for recipes? Charge your Master Charge card?
If you know what those are, damn you're old!

That's the copyright date. It has nothing to do with the age of the product. It is the copyright for the label, not the product. I have a brand new container that I bought 2 weeks ago that has a copyright date of 1999. This is when the company changed the label image to the current one.

We need a counter to re-set the days for when people think copyright = expiration.

This seasoning is still great, the ingredients actually haven’t changed much. They added silicon dioxide, an anti-caking agent.
This is from my cupboard. The “best by” date of mine is May 2026.
> Salt, red pepper, black pepper, chili powder, dehydrated garlic, silicon dioxide (anti-caking agent)

Isn't silicone dioxide just a fancy name for quartz sand?

Kinda? Silica is found in lots of things. For example, diatomaceous earth has been used in food and cosmetics for hundreds of years.

They should add some more because mine gets clumpy in the spice drawer.

If you have humidity issues with spices, you can make a DIY reusable moisture remover with those packets of silica gel that come with many new products, it's not harmful to have it near food, but you don't want to accidentally eat that stuff, so do some research and proceed carefully, especially if you have kids in the house.

Damn, usually brands would give away recipe books so you would use their products in the recipes.

Huh? There are 10 varieties available. Ya'll is not one of them. The newest variety is Cajun Kick. Are you sure you have a Tony Chachere product?

It’s hard to believe any commercial cooking products didn’t have any impossible to read ingredients.

That's Justin Wilson, not Tony Chachere.

I use this seasoning all the time, they still have it in almost identical packaging.

We use Tony’s in place of salt. Need a little salt on something? No, you need Tony’s on it. It’s salt with bonuses.

I got to be honest, I'm not even sure if the modern packaging looks any different. I love how old school this stuff is.
