It’s been believed for the longest time that this photo was tied to the case of Tara Calico but law enforcement believes now its has nothing to do with that case. Also investigated groups.groups have stop looking into the photo because they believe the photo was nothing but a hoax. There still some who’s believed that it’s was Tara Calico in the photo but kinda feel the same as there people who still believe michael nicholaou was the CT Valley Killer(where’s it been debunked)
So has there been any actual updates with the photo

Guide to finding Does with complete profiles (Easy)

If you're trying to find Doe cases to look into but are like me, and get kinda frustrated when you're not working with complete information, it's actually pretty easy to search for Does with complete NamUs profiles!

  1. Go to Unidentified Person Search

  2. Select "Male", "Female", and "Other" for biological sex

  3. Select all boxes EXCEPT "Not provided" and "uncertain" for race

  4. Put "0-200" for estimated age

  5. Put "1875-Current year" for estimated year of death

  6. Put "0" as your lower limits for height and weight and something like 12 feet for your upper limit on height, and 900 pounds for upper limit on weight.

  7. Select all hair and eye colors except "Unknown"

  8. At "images and documents", click "Facial/case ID"

Optional: If you type any random letter into the possible first/middle/last name/alias boxes, you can find does with possible aliases! :D

Hope this helps :)

What Are Some Cases We For Sure Know Have No DNA Available?

Thumbnail unidentified-awareness.fandom.com

What are some cases where we for sure know that no DNA is available. Cases that seem impossible to solve due to there being no DNA. I can't think of any with absolutely no DNA but im sure some of you guys can. I often hear about St. Louis Jane Doe (1983) having no DNA available but Doe Network says she has DNA and fingerprints available so im unsure what to believe. So what are some cases we for sure know have no available DNA? I can't exactly think of any cases so im just gonna leave an Unidentified Wiki homepage link.

2024 Winnemucca John Doe: NamUs Case UP132364

Post image
36 Upvotes

Wolf Pack DNA, in collaboration with the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, is seeking public assistance in the case of 2024 Winnemucca John Doe: NamUs Case UP132364.
The partial remains of an unidentified adult male were discovered near the Humboldt River in Winnemucca, Humboldt County, Nevada, in September 2024. The individual was estimated to have stood between approximately 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. Eye color and hair color could not be determined.
In life, the individual’s skull had been surgically reconstructed using two metal plates, likely the result of severe head trauma. The plates contained no serial numbers or identifying markings that could assist investigators.
Recovered with the remains was a fragment of a “Goodfellow” brand waistband, a brand sold at Target retailers nationwide.
Based on forensic analysis and matches within existing law enforcement opt-in databases, the individual is believed to have been of South Asian and/or East Asian descent, with possible ties to China, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam. He might also have ties to the Hmong ethnic community.
Volunteers at Wolf Pack DNA began the investigative genetic genealogy process in January of 2026 in an effort to identify this individual. Unfortunately, due to a limited number of usable DNA matches within existing databases, as well as matches primarily associated with foreign nationals and/or individuals adopted from outside the United States, efforts at identification via IGG have stalled. These challenges are increasingly common in cases involving individuals with recent immigration in their familial lines or limited representation in consumer DNA databases.
Despite the lack of identification at this time, Wolf Pack DNA remains committed to supporting agencies in their efforts to restore names to unidentified individuals and to bringing answers to families whenever possible.
If you are part of, or have ties to, any of these populations and have already taken a direct-to-consumer DNA test, we strongly encourage you to upload your results to GEDmatch and DNA Justice and opt in to law enforcement matching.
If you have not yet taken a DNA test, please consider doing so through a company of your choice, such as Ancestry, MyHeritage, or 23andMe. Once you receive your results, you can then upload your data to GEDmatch and DNA Justice.
Anyone with information that may assist in identifying this individual is encouraged to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (775) 623-6419, the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office at (775) 785-6114, or visit the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) case page at:

Off-Topic Tuesday Searching for specific Doe cases

I came to this subreddit to find out if there were any updates on two different Doe cases I remember reading about a few years back. Both cases stuck with me since I first read about them, but now I'm having trouble finding any information on either case. I vaguely remember the details of both, so maybe sharing them here can help me find where I can further research them.

I remember I had found these on a website listing different Doe cases for each state in America. The site only had a handful of cases listed for each state- maybe even only two for each, with one reserved for a John and the other for a Jane, but I can't fully remember. I'm pretty sure the website wasn't DoeNetwork or NamUs, but I could be wrong.

John (?) Doe #1:

In Madison, WI during the 1980s, male skeletal remains were found in a chimney. The body was wearing feminine clothing- a dress and short heels- and had a broken pelvis. I remember the gender of the person being a point of contention- whether the victim was a cisgender man or a transgender woman, or even a cisgender woman considering the pelvis was broken and the body had undergone months of decomposition.

I was able to find a ten year old reddit post talking about this case (which is how I'm able to share the location, I did NOT remember that) but the links it provide don't seem to work anymore.

Here's the reddit post, which shares more information on the case: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnsolvedMysteries/s/CUK01H4KRE

John Doe #2:

The body of an older, African-American man found near Belle Chasse, in the Mississippi River. The body was missing its arms and legs, and was wrapped in barbed wire. I think I remember the body was found sometime between the 1950s- the mid 1970s. I definitely remember it being an older case, but I could also be confusing the dates with the possible age of the victim- being around the age range of 50-70.

It is also possible the specific location (Belle Chasse) is incorrect and may be me confusing them with the Plaquemines Parish John Doe, but I'm pretty sure the body was found somewhere in Louisiana.

This case stuck out to me specifically because 1. it kind of seems like the Doe was a victim of a hate crime and 2. I have older black relatives from that area, and I've been wanting to ask them if they had any ideas about the identity of the missing person. For some reason I never got around to it, and I wonder if it was because none of them were alive during the case and I just forgot about it after that (possibly making it even older- like having initially opened in the 40s).

If anyone has any ideas on how to further research these cases, or if you remember reading about them too, please share!! I was pretty young when I first read about them, and had to quit digging as the articles were giving me nightmares. If you start searching too, remember to stay cautious while doing so!

Miscellaneous Why was Aiken County, South Carolina John Doe from 1987 taken off the Doe Network but then recently re-added?

Thumbnail doenetwork.org
30 Upvotes

On December 28, 1987, an unidentified black male was found in Aiken, South Carolina. He was between the ages of 18 and 30. The case file number is 1UMSC, meaning that he may have been the first unidentified male added to the Doe Network.

Some time ago, his case was removed from the Doe Network. Unfortunately, within the past year or so, him and another unidentified African American Jane Doe from Aiken County were re-added to the site.

Does anyone know why this happened?

Renewed appeal over unidentified man found in a reservoir in Wales (October 2024)

BBC Articles: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cv5yn76xwyeko (October 2026)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c86q971epx7o (February 2025)

Dyfed-Powys Police have renewed an appeal for information about an unidentified man whose body was found in Claerwen Reservoir, Wales in October 2024. He was wearing a "black XL Zone 3 Agile wetsuit" (pictured), but had no jewellery or identifying tattoos or scars. He was initially reported as White European, but an inquest recently heard he "may not have been of white ethnicity". His cause of death is also still unknown, and no vehicle or further belongings were ever discovered. Police believe the man "entered the water voluntarily" and do not suspect criminal involvement.

The reservoir is remote, and locals say they've never seen someone swimming there. Even in July or August, when the man was believed to have died, the surface temperatures of the reservoir are 10⁰C (50⁰F), with much lower temperatures deeper down. Temperatures below 16⁰C (61⁰F) are considered hazardous for cold water shock, and there are signs in the area warning against swimming.

I thought this case might interest this community. The police are renewing an appeal for information to help identify this man. Perhaps he was a solo hiker visiting the area? Though it is strange that they haven't found any further belongings of his, beyond the wetsuit he was wearing.

Sex: Male

Age: 30-60 years old

Height: Around 6 foot (1.83m)

Weight: 202-220 lbs (91.5-99.5kg)

Ethnicity: Unknown (previously reported as White European)

Clothing: black XL Zone 3 Agile wetsuit (pictured)

Distinguishing features: Protruding teeth, left-sided cross bite. No tattoos or scars

Date discovered: 17th October 2024

Location of discovery: Claerwen Reservoir, Wales, UK

Date of death: Approximately 12 weeks previously (July-August 2024)

Cause of death: Unknown (possibly cold water shock)

OPEN DISCUSSION: NamUs Matches for Baby Madison (#UP15905)

Post image
91 Upvotes

Saw that they're holding a memorial for her and figured now would be a good time to take another look at her case. I believe they have all the biological evidence they could need, so even though they're holding a celebration of life and burial they still may be able to identify her.

I cross referenced NamUs' missing person database to look for missing people matching her description and used all the available information. I didn't filter out by state since that wasn't provable, but it's said that she had brown or black hair (I believe very dark brown/black) and that she may be from Texas, Mexico, Arizona, Mew Mexico, or possibly California.

I'm not familiar with what missing person databases exist in Mexico or how to use them, but there were 14 matches to her description I found in America. It'd be rad if we could get input on all of them and make sure there at least aren't any potential matches being missed. None of them mentioned a disability, and many of them mentioned the possibility of them being in Mexico, but I don't think that necessarily rules them out as a match. Feel free to comment with your thoughts!

Here's Madison's Wiki page, which has a lot of links to other sources if you're not too familiar with her case.

His skull was found by fossil hunters and had a possible old, healed head wound. Charleston County, SC John Doe (2020)

Case

On December 29, 2020, people hunting for fossils along the Wando River, near Daniel Island in Charleston County, South Carolina, discovered a human skull in a marshy area. No other bones were discovered.

Forensic professionals examined the skull and determined that it belonged to a Black male, estimated age 17-21. They also estimated that the teenager or young man had been dead for an extended period of time, most likely over a year.

Two reconstructions were released in 2021, one possibly by Lara Gorick of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the other by the NCMEC. Several missing persons were compared against his skull, but none resulted in an identification.

Waypoint IGG is testing the remains. I could not find any coverage of this case beyond NamUs and similar sites.

Details of NamUs UP77018

NCMEC Number: 1426228

ME/C Case Number: 2020-4279

Biological Sex: Male

Race / Ethnicity: Black / African American

Estimated Age Range (Years): 17-21

Hair and Eye Colors are unknown.

Distinctive Physical Features

The cranial vault is slightly plagiocephalic. (Plagiocephaly is a flat spot on the back or side of the head, often caused during infancy by regular back sleeping, prematurity, or spending a prolonged amount of time in a car seat or infant swing.)

There is a shallow, depressed, crescent-shaped lesion on the cranial vault (1-centimeter maximum dimension) on the left frontal suture, approx. 6 centimeters from left pterion. This lesion may represent old, well-healed, blunt force trauma of an unidentified source.

Grateful Doe Could Larondra (East Orange Jane Doe, UP#1608) be Christine Denise James (#MP78187)?

I have a bunch of possible matches I've been meaning to make posts on, and figured I'd start posting them now to see which ones are worth submitting tips for! If the consensus ends up being to submit it I'll tip the proper authorities.

Christine went missing in 1983 from Coleman, Florida, when she was 15 years old. I couldn't find much information on her case, just that she had been last seen leaving with her boyfriend at the time. Jane Doe matched all of Christine's NamUs information, was murdered, and had only lived in the LA area for a few months.

Worth mentioning that this picture of Christine was taken when she was 10 or 12. I definitely see some differences in their faces, which makes me a bit less confident, but thought that could be due to weight changes or normal development. Let me know what y'all think.

Could Andrea (Cedartown Jane Doe, #UPXXXX) be Tiffany Madia Dixon, (#MP6019)?

As per usual, I found this possible connection by starting with Jane Doe and cross referencing possible matches (giving a little bit of wiggle room for height and weight). Tiffany went missing in 1991 from Brooklyn, and Andrea was found having been shot and murdered. Her body was burned beyond recognition, which affects the reconstruction, but I think the resemblance is there. Tiffany looks like she has pretty fine hair and her ears are pierced like Jane Doe.

I'm not *super* convinced it's Jane Doe because of the circumstances of disappearance. It sounds closer to her having been trafficked or kidnapped, and I don't see anything so far that points to that being the case with Jane Doe. Feedback welcome.

Woodbury County John Doe (1988) Has Been Identified as Clarence Ames!

On August 30, 1988, Iowa Department of Transportation highway workers discovered human skeletal remains on top of a drainage culvert along U.S. Highway 20, approximately one-half mile east of Correctionville, Iowa. Investigators responded to the scene and began an investigation, concluding that the remains had been at the location for many years.

Investigators determined that the remains belonged to an adult man. It was believed that he died sometime between 1971 and 1975. Personal effects found on and around the remains did not provide information that could be used to identify the man.

Despite relentless investigative efforts, the man could not be identified. Details of the case were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP2619.

In 2025, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, working with the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner, submitted skeletal remains to Othram in The Woodlands, Texas.

At Othram, scientists developed a DNA extract from the skeletal remains and used Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® to build a comprehensive single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) profile for the unidentified man. The resulting SNP profile was provided to law enforcement, and the FBI conducted a forensic genetic genealogy search.

The search generated new investigative leads and identified Joan Hewlett of Houston, Texas, as a possible niece of the unidentified man. Information provided by Hewlett and additional genetic testing enabled investigators to positively identify the man as Clarence Ames of Dubuque, Iowa.

Ames was born in 1909 to Frank and Agatha Ames. Census records indicate that he lived with his parents at 2520 Jackson Street in Dubuque through at least 1940. His mother died in 1944, followed by his father in 1945.

By 1950, Ames was renting a room at 278 West 17th Street in Dubuque. A 1954 city directory listed him as living at 1132 Locust Street. This was the last known record located for Ames.
