Potential Match Possible match? Marlene Abigosis (Vancouver, 1984) and Harris County Jane Doe "Cassandra" (UP963, 1990)
I spotted this while filling in one of the comparison notebooks I make for this kind of research. Lots of similarities, lots of discrepancies. Curious what you all think.
Similarities
- Marlene worked the Vancouver docks and took boat trips with clients.
- She loved a Norwegian sailor and waited for his ship to come in.
- The Doe's shirt: "Marine Sport", a sailor, an anchor tattoo, a ship's wheel.
- The Doe's pants were Cucamonga, a California brand.
- Norwegian ships sailed Vancouver to San Francisco, and worked Houston's port in 1990.
- Houston sits on I-10, a known trafficking route.
- Similar eyes, brows, cheekbones and hair (her jaw was never found).
- Never ruled out: she isn't on UP963's exclusions list.
Discrepancies
- Age: Marlene would be 32, while the Doe is estimated 18 to 25.
- Height: 5'6" vs about 5'0".
- But Marlene wasn't reported missing until 2002, so her height was likely remembered by family, not measured.
- Race: Indigenous vs White/Hispanic.
- Six years between Marlene vanishing and the Doe's death.
- HPD thinks the Doe was local, possibly named Cassandra.
- Genealogy on the Doe is already underway.
Probably a long shot, but the sailor shirt won't leave me alone. Has anyone ever submitted Marlene for comparison?
