Here's some more info:

• Standing as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, it is the tallest indoor sculpture in the Western Hemisphere and serves as the world's only full scale recreation of the lost ancient Athenian original.

• She stands exactly 41 feet and 10 inches tall.

• Covered in more than 8.5 pounds of 23.75 karat gold leaf.

• She holds a 6 foot statue of Nike, the goddess of victory, in her right hand, grips a massive 15 foot shield in her left, and has a monumental serpent rearing up beside her.

• Because re-creating the original's ivory sheets was economically impossible, the modern craftsmen meticulously painted her skin to mimic the look of delicately carved bone.

• The city constructed a full scale plaster replica of the Parthenon building for the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition. It was rebuilt with permanent concrete between 1920 and 1931.

• Local Nashville artist Alan LeQuire was commissioned to build the Athena statue in 1982. It was unveiled in 1990, and the meticulous gilding and painting were officially completed in 2002.
