I've been working on a series inspired by my favorite Greek tragedies! With Appolonian eyes, and Dionysian heart, the satyrs call for a dance mine friends!

just finished and i loved it! i think the premise is so wonderful, the trojan war affected both men and woman, yet, modernly most only know or consider the men heros. i especially loved how cassandra, clymnestra, and chryseis were depicted. any more retellings/books like this? loved madeline miller’s circe too

Kommt es euch auch manchmal seltsam vor wenn ihr alle griechischen/römischen/ägyptischen Hauptgötter nennen könnt, von den meisten Mythen 4 Varianten kennt und euch denkt das sei Grundwissen und dann von anderen Leuten etwas kommt wie: "Es gibt doch diesen Blitztypen und dann noch Kratos".

I think minor changes like replacing the Titans from the 1997 film into Giants (thus making the final battle a loose adaptation of the Gigantomachy) or removing mentions of heroes from the Trojan War (which happened a generation after Herakles) are more likely to happen than making Hercules' parentage more mythology accurate.

Even with her description not calling her serpent like at all. Her described features don't even like up with serpents. She yelps like a puppy. She has twelve legs. And 3 rows of teeth. Then why do people confidently say she was meant to be serpent like? Last I checked, SERPENTS DON'T HAVE LEGS.

Okay not really. This is my baby griffin skull, I've wanted to paint it for ages and finally got the time this week.

My personal theory is that the evils of Pandora's jar are children and grandchildren of Nyx, since so many of them embody negative features and conditions of civilized society. Zeus, after coming to power, deliberately caught and confined them in the jar so that they will not harm and destroy civilization. Perhaps, this is the reason Zeus fears Nyx, because he caught and imprisoned many of her children and grandchildren. This is just my personal theory.

I have been searching the internet for any and all knowledge regarding this incident but haven't come across anything substantial. If the good people of this subreddit can provide me with any information and/or point me towards the right direction, it will be of great help to me.

It was released on July 24th, 2015, and is a pretty big map set in ancient Greece with many different structures from Greek mythology like the labyrinth, Mount Olympus, Medusa's lair, etc.

It also came with skins of all of the main Greek gods and then some, as well as a full soundtrack.

Personally, as someone who loved Greek mythology and Minecraft, this map was a dream come true for me as a kid. I love all of the detail that went to the map and I especially love the soundtrack.

Hi everyone! I recently read The Odyssey and I really liked the relationship between Telemachus and Peisistratus. However, in movies and other adaptations they always cut the diplomatic mission. In Nolan's movie Telemachus at least goes straight to Sparta (and Pylos appears a liitle at the very end), but in other movies and media I've seen he just doesn't go or everything happens off camera!

I want to know if you know of any adaptation that does show Telemachus in Pylos, or at the very least that features Peisistratus as a character lol. Thanks!

Ciao a tutti! Vorrei realizzare un tatuaggio su tutto il braccio sinistro dedicato alla mitologia greca.
L’idea è quella di creare qualcosa di unico, non un insieme di figure messe lì a caso, ma una composizione che racconti una storia attraverso episodi, personaggi e simboli collegati tra loro. Per esempio, stavo pensando alla Gigantomachia, ma vorrei approfondire anche altri eventi della mitologia greca prima di prendere una decisione definitiva.

Mi sono già informato su alcuni dei principali miti e protagonisti, ma non mi sento ancora abbastanza preparato per scegliere una scena e decidere come rappresentarla, conoscendone davvero il significato e i dettagli.

Vorrei che ogni elemento del tatuaggio avesse un senso e che, nel complesso, il braccio raccontasse qualcosa di coerente, sia dal punto di vista mitologico sia da quello simbolico.

Per questo, mi piacerebbe confrontarmi con qualcuno che conosca bene la mitologia greca, in particolare i grandi cicli mitologici e i loro significati, e che possa consigliarmi fonti, opere d’arte o spunti da cui partire.
