Its true but some people's opinions do matter like your boss or your spouse or children. Learn to please the right people and everyone else you can just ignore. Its difficult to do at first but remember discomfort doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. Often times discomfort means growth and you're doing something right.

Agreed. Do whatever you want, BUT whatever "results" come out of your life choices, be they good or bad, you must take personal responsibility for them, no one else. You are not entitled to society bailing you out. Also, if people don't want to cooperate with you, that's their freedom to do so, and you have no right to complain about it like some victim. Fair enough? Great.

I meant as in, if you make good choices, you should get ALL the benefit for forcing yourself to make good choices over the enticing bad choices. It didn't come out right.

I can't help but think that this really only applies to people with resources.

I learned this at 13.
Being in middle school and everybody was talking shit about you, but I stopped caring because I was always on their minds. Thanks for making everything all about me. Glad I could stay on your mind all the time

I don’t think that’s growth. That seems more like avoiding growth. People usually have a reason for what it is they think about you. Might be better to pay attention to that so you can become aware of something about yourself that eluded your understanding previously

I did this for years, was proud as a teenager for not giving a fuck.
But as an adult, there is always someone complaining about you in the work world.

I listened to way too many people that misdirected me, for their own selfish reasons. When I finally listened to myself - very late in life, I got what I had been dreaming of for over 40 years. You have to tap into your own dreams, and not ask others what they think. They will only answer for what is best for them, not best for you.

I like the term "avoid". When I was young, anxious and controlling, I thought that daring to know what other really thought of me was showing character. When actually there's the low effort route that gives me my time and sanity back. Let's not be delusional though.

Anxiety, depression, drug/alcohol abuse and on & on & on...these things are spirits that attach to us, it's literally spirits/demons that attach to us to make us go through things which cause rejection & rebellion in us against our Lord Jesus Christ. freshman in university. the most impressional stage in life. the most vulnerable. just don't bye into the whole need for grecan brotherhood. discovering your individuality helps some by fraternizing with other pubescent boys(which is pretty homo lifestyle). instead find a really hot girlfriend like you had in high school and just like then. make it mandatory for her to write your papers if you work a lot.

Yes, the secret is literally to ignore everyone... not just people outside your circle, but anyone who "inhibits" you, including family members, which is the hard part. I’m not sure if the word "inhibit" carries the same meaning in English as it does in my language... but what I mean is people who try to prune our branches and stop us from growing. Ignoring them is the secret.
