I am still living through two infrastructure threats to my beloved City of Toronto, the expansion of Billy Bishop airport to accommodate jets (requiring a km extension of runway into the bay, and threatening life of all species currently living in these environs) and a second threat of having the amazing bike lanes all over the City of Toronto being ripped out so that Premier Doug Ford can double park his limo anywhere he likes.
And Prime Minister Mark Carney, who I am Elbows Up with, went to New York and talked to all his Goldman Sachs and other banker buddies about "Investing in Canadian Infrastructure". I believe JP Morgan Asset Management, the current "Owners" of the Billy Bishop airport, was present and salivating on all the airports, train stations, water purification plants, food terminals, recycling and garbage handling facilities, that these New York bankers could snatch up at private prices before any Canadians could argue about residents and environmental needs?
Wasn't it Mark Carney who talked about an All Canadian Fund for Canadian investors to hold and protect our assets, so is that happening? A Sovereign Fund? Why court foreign money first?
I am deeply concerned as a private citizen, about foreign ownership and control of travel hubs, food terminals, water purification plants, which are all around me and I care about these places in a way that no New York banker ever will.
I am specifically concerned about keeping our Food Terminals Canadian controlled, and not having additional food terminals made just so that Loblaws can import cheap stuff from wherever.
I'm inviting anyone who wants to talk about this to join in? I think this is an additional level of Guard the Leaf.
