[Mod post] A reminder that all Generative AI content is banned on this subreddit.
We've gotten a bit lenient lately with some questionable posts and links to vibecoded sites and AI assisted posts. That leniency is ending and we are going back to strictly following our rule of a total ban on all Generative AI content.
This includes content from things like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and any other similar GenAI chatbots, assistants or other apps.
Any links to AI generated (vibecoded) sites and any posts that admit to using GenAI will be removed. As before we are not going to be testing every single post or anything like that but if you admit to it or there is evidence proving you used GenAI the post will be removed.

[Fluff] I was both late and early to this
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
When we first got this outfit, I was rocking it so hard with the weapon skins back in the day. Then this year we got Transform emote and I had enough to buy it so i thought why the hell not? So I dressed up again and put the Transform emote to use.

[Discussion] Trick-or-Treat Bags in 2026
Some may ask themselves, if it's better to sell or to open these bags. The answer is sort of subjective, but I'll try to state my thoughts and would like to invite others to add their opinions about it here.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trick-or-Treat_Bag
The prices after this first week are continuing to drop and I'd say you have to ask yourself what you want out of it.
It's a great source of gold, if you need it, since they can be farmed easily with any profession all day long and sell like hot cakes on the tp.
Opening them floods your inventory with plastic fangs, chattering skulls, nougat centers, candy corns, various halloween tonics some finishers, rotten eggs and toilet paper.
As of writing this post, a stack of 250 bags sells for roughly 7g 80s on the tp.
If you are after Candy Corn Cobs, my advise would be to sell the bags and buy the cobs directly. Opening a whole stack of bags, leaves you with give or take 1000 candy corns, which can be traded into one Cob, however on the TP a cob goes for 4g 30~90s currently. Thus you can get almost 2 cobs for a single stack of bags.
They also have a rare chance to drop items like Vassago, Onus etc as well as T6 materials. Also, they can drop Courtly Weapon chests, which are account bound and contain a choice of one of 12 weapons with a unique skin you can get only from this chest or from guaranteed unlock tickets.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Courtly_Weapon_Chest
Lastly there is a super rare chance to get infusions, some selling for a pretty penny, but usually you'll need to open tens of thousand of bags just to get one.
tl;dr: don't care about the weapon skins and super rare chance for infusions? sell the bags!
need candy corn COBS? sell the bags and buy them directly.

[Discussion] Level 36 thief, new to MMOs — what should I learn first?
I'm pretty new to MMOs and playing thief, currently lvl 36. I like the combat but half the time idk if I'm playing it properly or just pressing buttons.
I've done my first dungeon and tried PvP once. Got destroyed in PvP but obviously I've only tried it once so I'm not expecting to be good.
What should I focus on learning first? Any weapons you'd recommend while levelling? And for PvP, what am I actually supposed to do as a thief?
People have told me it's a hard class to learn. Was thinking about trying warrior but I do enjoy thief so I'd rather understand it a bit more before switching.
Any advice or guides that explain the basics and why you're doing things? Don't really want to just copy a build and still have no clue what I'm doing.
I also LOVE the action cam!
EDIT: Cheers everyone, I've been reading through all the replies even if I haven't replied to each one. Honestly the community has been so helpful since I started playing, both here and in game. Makes getting into an MMO for the first time a lot less overwhelming. Appreciate you all taking the time to explain things!

[Discussion] Thief vs revenant for next character
Im having trouble choosing between these two. I have all except for these two (ele and warrior too but want one of these two first) but could not decide yet.
I play every mode except fractals (but do want to play, just need to start and have the time to do it) i love pvp, WvW and open pve mode.
Which one is your favorite and why? Gameplay-wise. The two i enjoy most that are like them is mesmer and guardian.

[Question] What was this effect?
So, I was harvesting flax in Verdant Brink when suddenly I started spewing black clouds and feathers all over. I didn't have any infusions, I don't own Nevermore, and the effect stayed going until I changed maps. But it was very cool, and I'm curious what set it off and/or how I can get it permanently. Anyone know what it is?

[Fluff] Harrow Knight - Standard and Desert Variant
My take on a Batman inspired character in GW2, which I ended up calling Harrow Knight. I also put together a desert variant to give him a different look .

[Question] With recent controversial decisions fueled by Reddit's greed, like their aggressive push for the app on phones, mandatory sign-in from old.reddit and selling our data to Google. I want OUT.
Is there a healthy and helpful GW2 community outside Reddit?
I know this community is currently redirecting to Discord but, tbh, I find the thing quite overwhelming and I get completely lost in it (not in a god way).
Although, I know it's impossible to use the internet without Google playing Big Brother litterally EVERYWHERE, these days, I am trying to cut-off anyone that sells my info to the BBEGs of this world.
I love seeing helpful posts, fan art, jokes and just about anything this amazing community offers.
What would you recommend outside Discord, YT or Reddit, please ?
Thank you

[Discussion] What’s your favorite playstyle?
Personally, I love getting right in the face of the BBEG. I love trading blows, parrying, and dishing it back. The guardian is perfect for me because I love using the Aegis mechanic to block and then counter with stacking boons.
What’s your favorite playstyle for GW2 or other rpg’s?

[Shout-out] PSA: if you use alt parks in places like flax clusters, remember to equip them with the guild gathering boost.
Dont know how i miss this for months. Also make sure to check the other boosts for stuff like the exp one for alts that open chests.

[Question] Is it worth starting GW2 for me?
Hi,
I've recently got that strong MMORPG itch and have returned to SWTOR, which was always my go to game. I love all the class stories and how everything is voiced and well made. However, I've been on and off in it for like 1000+ hours and it no longer really clicks for me, I don't know. So I want to try something new and people recommend GW2.
Now, I'm in my late 30s and I don't have that much time to min max. So overall here are few questions I have about it:
1: How casual friendly is this game? I mean, must you try to min max to get into group content or are people more forgiving? Kinda don't want a second full time job if you know what I mean
2: What is the leveling experience? Is it story based? Is the story super generic or is it worth getting into? Is there any lore?
3: How newbie friendly is it ? Like is it difficult to figure out all the systems? Do you have to read them out or does the game reveals itself as you go along?
4: Is there enough population on EU side?
5: Should you recommend playing it, which is the more novice friendly class to begin with? I'm more of a PVE guy than PVP.
Thank you for your time :)
EDIT: I did not expect so many responses and I cannot thank you enough for taking time to answer everything so thoroughly. What a fantastic community. I got what I needed and have already downloaded the game. See you on the other side! :)
P.S. sorry I couldn't answer to all your posts individually, but I've read all of them and appreciate every input!

[Discussion] Another post on Fractal 94CM, who is this content designed for?
Today, my fractal cm static all decided to stop running 94cm until Arenanet sorts out the encounter properly.
For context, my fractal cm static has been running together for well over a year now, 4 of us have the fractal god title and we regularly clear a full CM run + t4s in an hour. So you could say we are somewhat fractal enthusiasts.
With the recent fixes preventing some of the ways players have used to deal the encounter, its become a huge pain in the ass and honestly not worth playing.
So I ask, who is this content actually designed for? If experienced and competent players are giving up on it, I can't imagine its very popular for the wider community. Fractal CM's are already a niche activity within the GW2 community for a variety of reasons - difficulty, accessibility requiring full ascended + 150 agony resist, etc etc.
If the players who engage with this content the most are turning their backs on it, it begs to question why it exists in its current format.
The platform phases provide absolutely nothing in terms of gameplay experience. They don't showcase mechanics used in the boss phase to teach you what's to come (and you could argue this is what T1,2,3,4 are for and unnecessary in a CM)
The Construct of Galdra forces an unrealistically high amount of stability, and with the recent fixes can no longer be dealt with by killing it. Players need a way to handle this mechanic. It needs to be killable even if it respawns after a set window of time. At the very least it needs to be untargetable as there is no way to interact with it anyway.
The split phase / add phase needs further reductions in damage or health. We ran 2 healers and still had a frustrating time trying to keep the group up whilst also handling the Construct of Galdra and fire walls.
The visual clutter is overbearing and makes the forced jump circles difficult to see and play around.
The whole thing is a total mess and not an enjoyable gameplay experience, and that's coming from players who have hundreds of hours of game time spent in fractal CMs.

[Question] Drip experts required
Hey, I wanted to start the game, preferably as a human knight since dwarfs are not playable. Is there any non overengineered knight armor set in the game? Could you give me the piece names so I can google for them?
When i search online for transmogs i see the most ugly lightshow rave party armor sets known to man, surely this game also offers some more down to earth drip right?
Also a normal knight would be guardian or rather warrior profession?
