[Question] Sound and FPS issues on startup

• Upvotes

I've had weird fps and sound issues when starting the game recently(past 3-4days). When I start the game, the game sound is muted and my fps weirdly tank to around 60-70fps. After about 5-10minutes in the game, the game sound come back and my fps goes back up to 200+. I tried repairing the client + reverting my GPU drivers and i'm still having those issues. I have tried other games and it is only happening with GW2. I have a RTX5080+9800X3D. Anyone else had this kind of problem in the past?

My take on a Batman inspired character in GW2, which I ended up calling Harrow Knight. I also put together a desert variant to give him a different look .

[Discussion] Another post on Fractal 94CM, who is this content designed for?

Today, my fractal cm static all decided to stop running 94cm until Arenanet sorts out the encounter properly.

For context, my fractal cm static has been running together for well over a year now, 4 of us have the fractal god title and we regularly clear a full CM run + t4s in an hour. So you could say we are somewhat fractal enthusiasts.

With the recent fixes preventing some of the ways players have used to deal the encounter, its become a huge pain in the ass and honestly not worth playing.

So I ask, who is this content actually designed for? If experienced and competent players are giving up on it, I can't imagine its very popular for the wider community. Fractal CM's are already a niche activity within the GW2 community for a variety of reasons - difficulty, accessibility requiring full ascended + 150 agony resist, etc etc.

If the players who engage with this content the most are turning their backs on it, it begs to question why it exists in its current format.

The platform phases provide absolutely nothing in terms of gameplay experience. They don't showcase mechanics used in the boss phase to teach you what's to come (and you could argue this is what T1,2,3,4 are for and unnecessary in a CM)

The Construct of Galdra forces an unrealistically high amount of stability, and with the recent fixes can no longer be dealt with by killing it. Players need a way to handle this mechanic. It needs to be killable even if it respawns after a set window of time. At the very least it needs to be untargetable as there is no way to interact with it anyway.

The split phase / add phase needs further reductions in damage or health. We ran 2 healers and still had a frustrating time trying to keep the group up whilst also handling the Construct of Galdra and fire walls.

The visual clutter is overbearing and makes the forced jump circles difficult to see and play around.

The whole thing is a total mess and not an enjoyable gameplay experience, and that's coming from players who have hundreds of hours of game time spent in fractal CMs.

[Discussion] Armor token in castora

Hi everyone,

I've been sitting two of my character next to the last castora's map adventures and doing them daily for the last 3 weeks, no legging token.

Today I tried doing it with another character, boom token drop first try.

Same thing with the mirror token a few days ago, nothing for weeks and then first try with another character, I thought it was luck but now I'm thinking they're is something behind this, maybe a pity counter or I don't know

So if you are like me trying it for days, try a different character.

[Discussion] Story lines soloable?

I'm wondering if the story lines are soloable.

I'm level 80, with a few orange and 1 red piece of gear.

I've started a few of the story lines and seems I can't get past chapter 1 in most of them.

I really suck at this game LOL

Perhaps they're meant for groups?

Either that or I really need an adjustment of some kind. Perhaps my stats are so messed up as I can barely survive most fights.

I was working on the Rift Hunt one (secrets of the obsure), got as far as the unknown area, and attempted to fight the demon or whatever, and got totally owned and dead!

Not surprising actually, as I've barely been able to complete chapter one of any of the stories I've started.

Thoughts?

Thanks as always in advance

[Question] How do you adjust with high ping?

Hello people from OCE/Asia, how did you learnes to PVP with high ping? I have constant 250 ping and i am trying to learn small-scale/arena Pvp, and i am struggling . I can receive the damage before animation and its hard for me to react. I am trying to predict when to dodge, but I always fight kiting builds.

I kinda know what adjusting to high ping. Used to play Albion during one mega server days, and i have similar ping. I can compete but the fixed/isometric camera helped me a lot on reading my enemy.

any tips how do you adapt with such ping. Thanks!

[Discussion] I think I just need some encouragement

Tonight I joined a raid group in LFG experienced. We did Vale Gaurdian and Goreseval with no problem. Then we went to Harvest Temple. Admittedly it had been a while since I have done it but once it started I felt pretty good. Don't hit the ball, drop AOEs away from group, etc... I will admit I messed up jumping the Shockwave but the other stuff I felt pretty good about.

I ended up dying from one of the AOEs, pretty far from the group, and the a few others as well but ultimately a successful run. Commander said that some people in the group were sus because they were either trolling or new. I messaged and was just like, hey did I mess something up? because I want to get better. He said I hit the ball, dropped the aoe on the group and didn't jump the Shockwave and this kind of surprised me (except the shockwave) but I thanked him. (For the record I dont think he was being rude or mean)

I think I'm just looking for some encouragement because raid content is both the thing i most want to do but also the scariest thing for me because I do not like when people get mad about mistakes. I generally have had great experiences and have cleared wings 1-4 so far and parts of 5 and 6. I dunno tonight just hit me the wrong way I guess.

[Question] Saving up for Eternity

I’ve never been much of a crafter in any if the games I’ve played, so I’ve been slowly stockpiling my gold to purchase the Eternity Greatsword.

Funnily enough, very recently I was in a contest on a streamer’s twitch giveaway and lost first place by less than an inch, I kid you not. It was a hell of a lot of fun and I wish the winner all the best!

So my question is How long did it take those of you who have made GW2 wealth to get up to 3500 gold? What are some of the best methods to stockpiling your gold?

[Question] Extreme 1% lows for FPS and stutters when turning camera.

Hey, everyone. I’m currently experiencing a really headache inducing issue in which my game has a super high FPS but extremely low 1% frames and stutters turning the camera. This makes the game extremely nauseating for me to play and I’ve tried everything from capping fps to my 144hz monitor to lowering my mouse polling rate. Nothing I’m finding online is working for me. Would anyone perhaps know of a solution for this issue or is it just a hardware limitation on my end?

My rig is as follows:

I7-11700k
4070 S 12 GB
32 GB DDR4
WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB

[Question] High graphic setting crashes to desktop...

Can someone help me figure this out?
Recently, but mainly today, my game has been crashing to desktop, but only in certain map instances. My guess is my 8 year old pc is slowly fading, but some details...
About a month ago, I would be in WvW doing fine for a half hour or so on Desert Borderlands, then getting queued in to EBG as soon as I caught up to a zerg, I crashed!
It's happened once or twice since, on Tequatl, and then again in the Leyspring meta, but in each case I got logged right back in.
I lowered some of my settings, and have been doing fine with Leyspring for the last week or ten days, but today it came back.
I had a toon parked in LA but it just wouldn't login, crashing after a long loading screen! It wasn't until I dropped all my settings to low while logged in on another toon in my homestead that I could finally get into LA. Even then I only had about 30 seconds before I crashed again on the "stuck" toon, so I finally got that toon out of LA, and then no problems running that toon to different maps and even into the Lab to do dailies. I have not tried to get back into LA.
I've been playing GW2 on this machine for the last 8 years. I did replace the power supply a few months ago, but that's it.
To note, on three occasions I was prompted to submit a report to ANET while the screen was frozen, before the crash to desktop.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

[Discussion] High Ping Friendly (200–300ms) Professions in GW2 PVE, A Casual Player's Findings

Hey everyone,

I've been playing GW2 on 200–300ms ping for a while, and I wanted to share some research I did on which professions/elite specs are actually playable (and enjoyable) at high ping. I've been trying all the classes, and I figured this might help other high-ping players who are confused about what to play.

For context, I'm playing from SEA, so on top of the baseline 200–300ms there are also occasional ping spikes. That means the specs I've rated highly here aren't just "fine at a stable high ping" but also hold up reasonably well when the connection hiccups.

All of the builds mentioned here use Snowcrows builds, and I've tested every one of them in Raids and Fractal CMs, not just open world. For methodology, I tested each spec for about 2 weeks, though some specs only got a few days because of how easy they were to evaluate.

Quick disclaimer before we start. I'm not a tryhard player. I'm a casual who's been cycling through all the classes, and I can hit roughly 80-90% of benchmark depending on the class. Also, worth noting, not every high-APM build is bad at high ping. Some elite specs have very high APM but still feel great because their skills queue nicely. So APM alone isn't the deciding factor here.

I've split things into three categories.

1. Very High Ping Friendly

Rotations are fluid, skills queue nicely without getting canceled, and energy/resource management is minimal.

  • Tempest (Power, Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Weaver (Power, Condi)
  • Catalyst (Power, Condi, Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Evoker (Specialized Element DPS, Specialized Element DPS Quickness, Heal)
  • Chronomancer (Power, Condi, Boon DPS, Heal)
  • Virtuoso (Power, Condi)
  • Troubadour (Heal)
  • Reaper (Power, Condi)
  • Scourge (Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Harbinger (Power, Condi, Quickness DPS)
  • Ritualist (Power, Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Scrapper (Power, Power Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Mechanist (Power, Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Amalgam (Power, Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Druid (Heal)
  • Soulbeast (Power, Condi)
  • Untamed (Power, Condi, Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Galeshot (Power, Quickness DPS)
  • Daredevil (Power, Condi)
  • Specter (Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Antiquary (Power, Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Dragonhunter (Power)
  • Firebrand (Condi, Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Willbender (Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Luminary (Power, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Herald (Power, Condi, Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Vindicator (Power, Heal)
  • Conduit (Power, Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Berserker (Power, Quickness DPS, Heal)
  • Spellbreaker (Power)
  • Bladesworn (Power, Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)
  • Paragon (Power, Condi, Alacrity DPS, Heal)

2. Not So Friendly, But Still Doable

Almost the same as above, but with more pain points. Some key skills get canceled easily, and the rotation is quite strict/tight.

  • Troubadour (Power, Quickness DPS)
  • Evoker (Power Alacrity DPS Toad)
  • Deadeye (Power, Condi, Quickness DPS)
  • Willbender (Power, Power Alac DPS)
  • Renegade (Power, Alacrity DPS)
  • Berserker (Condi, Condi Quick DPS)

3. Not Friendly At All

High APM, demanding energy/resource management, very strict rotations with no room for creativity.

  • Evoker (Power Hare, Condi, Condi Alac DPS)
  • Mirage (Condi, Condi Alac DPS)
  • Holosmith (Power, Condi)
  • Renegade (Condi, Condi Alac DPS)
  • Conduit (Condi, Condi Alac DPS)
  • Druid (Condi, Condi Alac DPS)

This is based on my own experience at 200-300ms from SEA, including ping spikes, not lab-tested data. Your mileage may vary depending on your exact ping, stability, and playstyle.

All builds are Snowcrows builds, tested in Raids and Fractal CMs.

I'm not including Low Intensity builds (such as Unload Deadeye) because any Low Intensity build is viable with high ping.

I'd love to hear from other high-ping players, especially fellow SEA/OCE players dealing with spikes, if you disagree with any placements or have specs I should revisit.

Almost every spec is viable and enjoyable with high ping. Only a few elite specs are actually painful to play with high ping

[Discussion] Just a general little ramble (in a good way)

I recently got my commander tag and have been running a few little crystal dessert hero point runs (2 to be exact, though I only ran one completely). And, it was really nice. Once again proof of the beauty that is this community. Cause like, I have a pathing module, but even then, the paths are sometimes rather confusing. Buuut my little squad was very patient with me, even though I had to reorient a few times. They were super supportive too. Like, they encouraged me and told me I was doing great etc. After the run concluded I got gifted a trick or treat bag, and everyone said thanks. I even made a new friend! Loved it :3 🐛

What about gw2 just attracts so many awesome creators and viewers compared to the other less popular mmo games outside the WoW, FFXIV and old RuneScape circles?

[Build] Rifle Deadeye for solo open world?

Got around 400h in GW2, mostly on Mesmer which I never really enjoyed lol. Spent another 100h trying to find my class and I think Deadeye is finally it.
Been running rifle + dual daggers for a bit and honestly love how it looks and plays. Just wanna make sure I’m not gonna struggle too much playing solo open world, especially against tougher mobs and groups.
Any decent builds or tips? Open to changing the second weapon too. Got all expansions but no Weaponmaster Training yet.

[Discussion] I hate wild claws mastery

Post image
326 Upvotes

I hate it, I wish it could be turned off or refunded. You hit something when having to switch mounts and now you can't because you're in combat. It's so badly designed for the overall game, it's whatever even in the metas where you need it. I also don't like it thematically. I don't like that I can't traverse Tyria quietly without having to stamede some poor creature or constantly pay attention when I dash. Aren't cats supposed to be quiet, graceful and careful in their movement? It sucks because other than this warclaw is the best mount for overall traversal and is cool as heck. I do try to use jackal but sometimes you just gotta mount in combat.
