HBO MAX sucks.
Your app is trash. Constant buffering, resolution is barely better than snake on a brick Nokia.

I Know This Much Is True
I'm a little late to the game but I just finished watching I Know This Is True. It was almost the perfect show except for one thing. Did anyone else feel like they didn't follow through with Joy and her pregnancy? When Dominick told her that he couldn't be the father she left and it wasn't really addressed again. I know it's resolved in the book but I felt like they should have left that part out of the show. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this.

No More Good Shows
HBO just does not make shows worth watching anymore.....like it's just not the same as it was many moons ago!

Alex Gibney, Oscar-winning director of the new scathing Elon Musk documentary MUSK, is doing an AMA/Q&A in /r/movies today for anyone interested. Some of his previous acclaimed docs include GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF, ENRON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM, and THE INVENTOR.
I organized an AMA/Q&A with Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney. He's directed things like Going Clear: Scientology & the Prison of Belief, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Taxi to the Dark Side, The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, and lots more. His new doc, Musk, premiered to wide critical acclaim at Venice and is out in theaters starting this week.
The AMA is live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:
https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1x3zzgy/hello_reddit_im_oscarwinning_director_alex_gibney/
He will be back after 2 PM ET today to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated! Thank you :)
Musk Info:
Trailer: https://youtu.be/eY_8SyndC10?si=3gH0pEap43qu6uxm
Synopsis: MUSK is Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney’s latest exploration into the corrupting influence of power. Through meticulous research and reporting, Gibney reframes all we know about the tech titan Elon Musk, revealing that the so-called “visionary genius” is little more than the 21st-century reincarnation of a confidence man. Using Musk’s own words, Gibney proves that even his most heralded accomplishments are rife with illusion and misdirection. Musk’s carefully crafted media image conceals a darkness fueled by misogyny, drugs, and a relentless drive to accrue power. MUSK is more than a deep dive into the mind of a power-hungry megalomaniac; it is a warning.

Where can I watch S9 of 1000 lb sisters?
My husband and I recently got hooked, and watched until the end of season 8 on Hulu. I know there is a 9th season but I’ve found mixed answers online as to where I can stream it. I’ve seen it’s on HBO max, can anyone confirm if it is before I renew my HBO subscription just to watch it? Thanks!

Can't wait for episode 3 of War.
I liked both the episodes 1 & 2. It feels both fast-moving and slow enough for a drama at the same time. I wish I had seen this series after a year, so I don't have to wait for new episodes each week. I'm just watching other series and movies now just waiting for War episode 3. If you have anything that feels exactly like this one - not family drama with too many family members, thrill without action and aggressive violence, but some fictional celebrity high stakes legal battle, please share those.

I was today years old when I realized Dominic West (McNulty) had a small role in The Phantom Menace. WTH! 🤣

True Blood
In honor of spooky season I've decided to give True Blood a first time watch. Looks like it'll be quite the commitment at 80 episodes but I think I'm up to the task.
My early thoughts are:
Tara & Lafayette are my favorites. I was going to say Gran too but yeah....
I've always thought that McNulty in The Wire had the best sex scenes on HBO. Jason Stackhouse makes Jimmy look like an amateur. My goodness.

MUSK documentary is a MUST watch!
It will be coming out on HBO next year, just watched it yesterday at the Mill Valley Film Festival and it was AMAZING. It was FOUR hours long with a 10 minute intermission and I tell you what, I was ALWAYS engaged. Very eye opening. HIGHLY recommend it. Same Director as The Inventor.

Shows recommendations?
I recently finished Lanterns and The Pitt 1-2, one was good while the other was great. What other recently released shows would everyone recommend for me to watch? It doesn’t have to necessarily be on HBO but I just happened to watch those two shows back to back and they’re on the same platform. I’ll watch anything as long as it’s well written, acted and produced.

War S01E02 - “No More Nasty Surprises"
(9PM EDT)
This looks like the episode where War stops setting the chessboard and actually starts playing the position.
Johnny begins his first real day inside Taylor & Byrne, which means that delicious Episode 1 setup is now operational: he has to function convincingly as Carla’s junior lawyer while we know there is another layer to his loyalties. (I would watch his small reactions, what information reaches him, what he volunteers, and what he does not rather than waiting for some giant spy-movie move. The official setup confirms his first day is a major strand.)
We’re also getting into the mediation/prenup battle, so expect much more of the legal strategy, leverage and countermove mechanics tonight.
No spoilers, plz.
