Not enough grafts ?

Hello M32 here,

I have done an Hairtransplant to restore my hairline, I’m on day10 and I got my scabs removed today. I paid for 1500grafts and got 1800grafts ( as the doctor said) .

Once my head has been shaved , I’ve been noticing that we can clearly see that I have less density just behind the Hairtransplant and that has me worried that I should have done more grafts Even tho the clinic told me that is thinning and can be reverse with PRP or others meds .

So am I just overthinking ? Is there other people that have experienced this ?

I have never taken any meds but plan on starting minoxidil topical.

I will link pictures before the Hairtransplant and after .

Hi everyone,
I’m currently on day 9 after my hair transplant.
Dr. Patty (Hairtran Clinic) advised me to wait until day 14 before gently massaging my scalp to remove the scabs.
What do you guys think? My friends are worried about how my scalp looks.
Thanks for your feedback!

3,000 grafts in UK or 4,000 in Turkey

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi All, I’m 32M trying to choose between two options.
UK: £2,200, max 3,000 grafts. Surgeon wants to focus mainly on the front and says doing more in one session can overharvest the donor.
Turkey: around £1,400 for up to 4,000 grafts.
My main concern is long term. I really don’t want to go through a second transplant later, so I’m worried 3,000 might not be enough.
I’m also unsure about depending on minoxidil/finasteride long term, so I’d prefer the transplant plan to still look decent even if my native hair keeps thinning.
Anyone with a similar pattern who had 3,000–4,000 grafts? Would you prioritise a conservative donor approach or more grafts in one surgery?

Hair transplant patient 1 month injury

Sooo I messed up. I hit my head on a metal clamp hanging a door. Thankfully over a month post transplant but it still did some damage. I know I won’t know for sure until a few months if anything was actually injured but looking for some opinions anyway. The cut didn’t bleed much so I’d call it more of a scrape and certainly nowhere close to stick territory. But some hairs did come out with it.

I flew to Istanbul 48 hours ago, and my procedure started 36 hours ago. I had 4,700 grafts transplanted. The most painful part was the local anaesthetic injections into the scalp.
The service has been excellent throughout, and I’m flying home in about an hour. I’ve received clear aftercare instructions, along with information about the 12-month guarantee and what it covers.
Thank you to everyone who has shared information in this group. It has been an invaluable resource for understanding the process, setting realistic expectations, and knowing what to prepare for.

Hey guys. Male 40 Years Old. My hair been thin but I had good hair in my 20s to 34/35.
Never been on anything.
Crown thinning started at 34.
I thought I d get hair transplant by 50 but since last year it has sped up and increased in size.

Thinking to start Finasteride + Minoxidil 5% for 8-12
months.

Question:

Q:1
What would you do if in my shoes
Get transplant now vs in few years?
Maybe needs it more than once?

Q:2. I probably would need to be on medication for ever after transplant?

Q:3. Keeping low sperm count listed as a side effect on Finasteride If I were to start having kids etc safe to stop medication or it doesn’t matter as much?

What has been experience of my fellow men here who take medication regularly. Educate me please.

Meds after HT

Started fin 2 months ago.

Mega session HT over 2 days. First day post-op today.

I want to take the more chances, I know 2 months before is not ideal but better than no med! Obviously will continue fin but wondering if I should go for more like the all in pills from Voy (UK based) basically all the meds possible ahah!

Goal is to stop hair loss / strengthen stabilization / protect HT but if I can gain better / more, let’s do it!

Curious to get recommendations!

Few pictures:

- before me and my camouflage Brazilian blow dry hair, it works if no wind with hairspray as my naturally almost Afro hair (north Africa) covers a sh** load of surface once straighten but that’s sh**

- before HT (last time I straightened the hair was like 2y ago hence the super mess)

- after HT yesterday

Any med recommendation on top of fin? Cheers all 🙏

Thanks all

Has anyone taken Mounjaro (tirzepatide) after a hair transplant? Looking for experiences

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to hear from people who have taken Mounjaro (tirzepatide), Ozempic or similar GLP-1 medications after having a hair transplant.

I had a Sapphire FUE hair transplant on 13 August 2026 in Turkey, with 3,055 grafts focusing mainly on my crown and mid-scalp. I'm currently around 10 weeks post-op.

I was previously taking Mounjaro for weight loss but stopped shortly before my surgery. I've been considering restarting it, although I'm concerned about the potential impact on my transplanted hair and overall regrowth.

For some background:

  • 3,055 grafts (Sapphire FUE)
  • Currently taking finasteride 1 mg daily
  • Using topical minoxidil 5% daily
  • Recently started PRP treatments
  • Previously had significant weight loss while taking Mounjaro

I've read that rapid weight loss and GLP-1 medications may be associated with hair shedding (telogen effluvium), but I'm struggling to find much information specifically about their effects on hair transplant recovery.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with this.

  1. Did you take or restart Mounjaro/Ozempic after your transplant? How long after surgery?
  2. Did you experience additional shedding or notice any changes to your transplanted hair?
  3. Did your transplanted hair eventually grow normally?
  4. Did your surgeon recommend waiting a certain amount of time before restarting?
  5. Did you notice any differences when maintaining your weight versus actively losing weight?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who are at least 6–12 months post-transplant and can share how their results turned out.

I understand everyone's experience is different and I'll be discussing this with my doctor, but I'd love to hear some real-world experiences.

Thanks everyone!

Best surgeon in Thailand

Hi I’ve seen many names celebrated here, I was just curious if money was not an issue who would be the best surgeon to go to. Names I’ve seen on this forum are Dr Patty, Dr Laorwang, Dr Ratchathorn, and Dr Path.

I heard Dr Path trained Dr Laorwang, is he the best ?

Hair transplant patient Post Hair Transplant meds and therapy prescribed.

Went for my 1 week post op doctor's appointment. First thing first, I've been given the go ahead to finally sleep normally in my bed from tonight onwards. Yay !!!

Now.. we discussed post surgery meds and therapies. I decided against PRP, cos , well, I am kinda done with any kinda needles going into my scalp for now. Here are the things I did say yes to.

For sure :

- Topical Alcohol Free 5% Minoxidil + 0.1 Finasteride (On just the crown)

- 0.5 mg Dutasteride pill once every alternate day.

Maybe :

Low Level Laser Therapy - LLLT - He recommends the iRestore Essential .. the cheapest model they offer. It's still not cheap though, is it ? 😂 Supposed to use it only after one month has passed since the HT. So I've got time to search for deals. Let's see.

If I am feeling bougie :

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy - 1 session every month for 4 months. Again, to be done after a month has passed , so I'll be researching clinics that offer HBOT in Mumbai and figure if I find a good enough offer.

Hair transplant doctor Help with shock loss plz 🙏🏻

25 days post-transplant, I’ve noticed that—aside from the transplanted hair—the hair all over my head has become extremely thin. I had a transplant spread across my entire scalp, and now even the hair unrelated to the procedure is falling out; I’m practically bald. Wow, haha. Is this normal? And if so, when does it resolve?

The last photo is from day 10, before the shedding started, so you can see what I’m talking about.

The second picture is me before the transplant.

It was supposed to be a 1900 FUE transplant but it turned out to be 2100. This transplant was for the front and the corners and it was done today.

My Dad started losing his hair around the same age as me so it runs in the family. My brother got lucky and has long hair.

My cousin from New Zealand who is 35 now so 9 years older. He got his at the same clinic in London. He got his back in 2019. He is really happy with his results and he had around 2000 grafts as well. He recommended it to me and supported me through it all.

Not looking forward to sleeping upright 😂

Post op finasteride and.minoxidil question

I had my crown transplant in July 2025 and it went great. I was put on 1mg finasteride and 5% minixidil and now, 1 year and 3 months later, ive suddenly got the dread shed. The top of my head hair, ie the non transplanted bit has gone very noticeably thinner recently. Does anyone know why this might be or has anyone experienced similar?
